Fairfax District (Kansas City, Kansas)

The Fairfax Assembly & Stamping is a General Motors automobile factory at 3201 Fairfax Trafficway, Kansas City, Kansas in the United States. As of 2022, the 4,900,000 sq ft (460,000 m2) plant employs over 2,100 hourly and salaried employees. Employees are represented by UAW Local 31.

The Platte Purchase Bridge was a continuous truss bridge over the Missouri River that handled northbound U.S. Route 69, connecting the Seventh Street Trafficway in Fairfax, Kansas with Interstate 635 (Kansas–Missouri) in Riverside, Missouri. Its biggest span was 465.96 feet and it is 2552.19 feet long and had a deck width of 28.31 feet and vertical clearance of 15.02 feet. The bridge was named for the Platte Purchase.

The Fairfax Bridge was a truss bridge over the Missouri River that handled southbound U.S. Route 69 (US 69), connecting Interstate 635 (I-635) in Riverside, Missouri with the Seventh Street Trafficway in Fairfax, Kansas. Built by the Kansas City Bridge Company, it was 2,486.5 feet (757.9 m) long and had 13 spans on 15 piers. The bridge has now been removed, with the approach spans being demolished using explosive charges on January 16, 2015, and the main spans on January 24, 2015.

The US 69 Missouri River Bridge is a girder bridge carrying U.S. Route 69 (US 69) over the Missouri River. It connects Interstate 635 (I-635) in Riverside, Missouri with the 7th Street Trafficway and Fairfax District in Kansas City, Kansas. Construction began in the fall of 2014. The bridge opened to automobile traffic in October 2016 and was formally opened to all traffic on March 16, 2017. In addition to automobiles, the bridge also carries bicycle and pedestrian traffic. It replaced the now-demolished Fairfax and Platte Purchase bridges. The bridge was constructed by the Missouri Department of Transportation at cost of $79 million (equivalent to $89 million in 2021). Construction costs were split with the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Line Creek is a stream in Platte County in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of the Missouri River. Line Creek was named for the fact its course flows parallel to the Clay—Platte county line.

Kaw Point is part of Kaw Point Park, in the Fairfax District of Kansas City, Kansas. Kaw Point Park is administered by the National Park Service as a destination along the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. The point is along the shores of the confluence of the Kansas River (Kaw River) and the Missouri River, at the eastern termination of the Kansas River, and where the Missouri River turns its southerly course eastward through the state of Missouri to the Mississippi River at St. Louis.

The Kansas River, also known as the Kaw, is a river in northeastern Kansas in the United States. It is the southwesternmost part of the Missouri River drainage, which is in turn the northwesternmost portion of the extensive Mississippi River drainage. Its two names both come from the Kanza (Kaw) people who once inhabited the area; Kansas was one of the anglicizations of the French transcription Cansez (IPA: [kɑ̃ze]) of the original kką:ze. The city of Kansas City, Missouri, was named for the river, as was later the state of Kansas.The river valley averages 2.6 miles (4.2 km) in width, with the widest points being between Wamego and Rossville, where it is up to 4 miles (6.4 km) wide, then narrowing to 1 mile (1.6 km) or less in places below Eudora and De Soto. Much of the river's watershed is dammed for flood control, but the Kansas River is generally free-flowing and has only minor obstructions, including diversion weirs and one low-impact hydroelectric dam.

The United States District Court for the District of Kansas (in case citations, D. Kan.) is the federal district court whose jurisdiction is the state of Kansas. The Court operates out of the Robert J. Dole United States Courthouse in Kansas City, Kansas, the Frank Carlson Federal Building in Topeka, and the United States Courthouse in Wichita. The District of Kansas was created in 1861, replacing the territorial court that preceded it, and President Abraham Lincoln appointed Archibald Williams as the Court's first judge. Appeals from the District of Kansas are made to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit (except for patent claims and claims against the U.S. government under the Tucker Act, which are appealed to the Federal Circuit). As of March 10, 2023 the United States Attorney is Kate E. Brubacher. On March 12, 2015, Ronald L. Miller, most recently police chief of Topeka, Kansas, was confirmed as U.S. Marshal.The Clerk of Court is Skyler B. O'Hara, who is located in Topeka.

Sumner Academy of Arts and Science is a nationally ranked magnet school in Kansas City, Kansas which prepares students for high-level academic and creative pursuits. Named for abolitionist Charles Sumner, it started in 1905 during a period of racial tension as a segregated school for black ("Negro") students, which offered vocational training, but emphasized college-preparatory training. Located at 1610 N. 8th Street, the current architecturally significant complex began with its Art Deco core in 1937, but has been repeatedly expanded. The segregated Sumner High School closed in 1978, converting at that time to its present high-challenge magnet program.

Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport (IATA: MKC, ICAO: KMKC, FAA LID: MKC) is a city-owned, public-use airport serving Kansas City, Missouri. Located in Clay County, this facility is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems, which categorized it as a general aviation reliever airport.

The Union Pacific Bridge (Two Rivers Bridge) is the first bridge on the Kansas River at Kansas City. It was built in 1904, and is a four span, through-truss structure carrying a single railroad track. It is located immediately north from the Intercity Viaduct. It replaces the first bridge at this location, which was destroyed by a flood in 1903.
