Saltbox Hill is a 22.2 biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in three separate areas in Biggin Hill in the London Borough of Bromley. One area of 6.9 hectares is owned and managed by the London Wildlife Trust. It is also a Site of Metropolitan Importance. It is a steeply sloping 55 acre biological site, which is close to Charles Darwin's home, Down House, and inspired him and provided him with a picnic place.Much of it is chalk grassland which is rich in plants which are rare in Greater London, and it is one of only two sites in London which has the dark green fritillary butterfly. Ten species of orchid and over thirty of butterflies have been recorded. The site also has an area of woodland. The site was notified to Natural England in 1985, but by 1999 it was in danger of being lost through neglect, and the London Wildlife Trust launched an appeal to save it. The trust aimed to buy the whole site, but only succeeded in purchasing part of it amounting to seventeen acres.There is access from Hanbury Drive and the road Saltbox Hill.

Biggin Hill is a settlement on the south-eastern outskirts of Greater London, England, within the London Borough of Bromley. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Kent, prior to 1965 it was also in the administrative county of Kent. It is situated beyond London's urban sprawl, 15.2 miles (24.5 km) south-southeast of Charing Cross, with Keston to the north, New Addington to the north-west and Tatsfield, in the neighbouring county of Surrey, to the south. At the 2011 Census, Biggin Hill had a population of 9,951. Biggin Hill is one of the highest points of Greater London, rising to over 210 metres (690 ft) above sea level. Biggin Hill Airport occupies land formerly used by RAF Biggin Hill, one of the principal fighter bases protecting London from German bombers during the Battle of Britain.

Two aviation crashes occurred on June 2–3, 2001, during the annual Biggin Hill Airshow, at London Biggin Hill Airport in Bromley, England. An aircraft landing incident and two separate fatal aircraft crashes occurred during the weekend show. A de Havilland Venom suffered minor damage to its fuselage when it landed with its landing gear retracted. Six hours later, a de Havilland DH-115 Vampire was attempting a wingover, when the aircraft lost control and dived into the ground, destroying the Vampire and killing pilots Kenneth Hayr and Jonathan Kerr. A Bell P-63 Kingcobra crashed the following day after attempting a maneuver with insufficient speed, destroying the aircraft and killing pilot Guy Bancroft-Wilson. After the conclusion of the airshow, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch opened three investigations into the events of June 2–3 for the Venom, Vampire and Kingcobra respectively. Their findings on how wake turbulence affects aircraft during air displays and how communication issues could be improved between performing aircraft and air traffic control were published in their individual reports. The residents of Biggin Hill agreed that the weekend had been a terrible tragedy and were divided over whether the airshow should continue. Despite the concern, the airshow continued to run annually until 2011, at which time it was replaced by an open house air day.

London Biggin Hill Airport (IATA: BQH, ICAO: EGKB) is an operational general aviation airport at Biggin Hill in the London Borough of Bromley, located 12 NM (22 km; 14 mi) south-southeast of Central London. The airport was formerly a Royal Air Force station RAF Biggin Hill, and a small enclave on the airport still retains that designation. Biggin Hill is best known for its role during the Battle of Britain in the Second World War, when it served as one of the principal fighter bases protecting London and South East England from attack by German Luftwaffe bombers. Over the course of the war, fighters based at Biggin Hill claimed 1,400 enemy aircraft, at the cost of the lives of 453 Biggin Hill based aircrew.The airport has a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P804) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee (Regional Airports Limited). It specialises in general aviation, handling a spectrum of traffic from private aviation to large business jets. It currently has no scheduled airline service, as flights using the airport are not permitted to carry fare-paying passengers.

The Kings Arms, Leaves Green is a pub in Leaves Green Road, Leaves Green, Keston, Bromley, London. It is a Grade II listed building, dating back to the 18th century.

Leaves Green is a village in Greater London within the London Borough of Bromley. The village lies on the Bromley to Westerham road (A233), adjacent to the north-western perimeter of Biggin Hill Airport. It is some 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Bromley and 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Biggin Hill. Leaves Green village has a large (and eponymous) village green which straddles the A233. This is the location for one of London's coal tax posts (number 186) which formerly denoted the boundary of the area in which the City of London Corporation was empowered to collect duty on coal. The post is also depicted on the village sign.

Tatsfield is a village and civil parish in the Tandridge District of Surrey, England. It is located 3.3 miles north west of Westerham and 3.9 miles north east of Oxted, and is adjacent to the Surrey border with both Greater London and Kent.

Charles Darwin School is the only secondary school in the Biggin Hill area of the London Borough of Bromley, England. The school consists of 1,320 secondary and sixth form students. Currently the head teacher is Mr Aston Smith. The school has recently received a good in an October 2013 Ofsted inspection. GCSE results have demonstrated continued year-on-year improvement to 69.4% A*-C including English and maths, with 90% 5 GCSE good grades. At A-level 82% of 6th formers gained A-C grades. The school is London's most southerly school and has a catchment including schools from Bromley, Croydon, Kent and Surrey. Public transport to the school is via 320, 664, 69, 464, R8, R2 and 246 bus routes. The school is also a creative arts college, and is locally renowned for their annual school productions. In July 2014, they put on an end of year production of The Demon Headmaster produced by Kian Hollis.The school has a thriving sporting community where pupils have represented and have won events at Kent County level in boys and girls football, rugby and cricket. A number of pupils have represented at England U18 football, Olympic diving and Premier league football. The school facilities include a gym and an all-weather astro-turf football pitch.

Meridian High School is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in the New Addington area of the London Borough of Croydon, England. The School takes its pupils mainly from the Addington, New Addington, Forestdale, Selsdon and Shirley areas. In January 2007, strong winds swept the roof of the school off. No-one was harmed and the school was fully repaired by April 2007. The school converted to academy status on 1 June 2013. The school changed its name to Meridian High School in June 2015 to avoid bad assumptions of students that people had of previous students that attended the school. The school had previously been called Addington High School and before that Fairchildes secondary modern School. The Prime Meridian passes straight through the school playground, hence the current name.

Aperfield is a hamlet and area in London, England, within the London Borough of Bromley, 16.2 miles (26 km) south-southeast of Charing Cross. It is near Biggin Hill and Berry's Green. The name has its first recorded use in 1242 as Apeldrefeld and means field where apple trees grow, from the Old English words apuldor and feld.

West Kent Golf Course is located in Downe in the London Borough of Bromley. Three areas totalling 9.2 hectares within the golf course, owned by the golf club, are managed by the London Wildlife Trust (LWT) as a nature reserve. The site is close to Down House, the former home of Charles Darwin. It is part of Darwin's Landscape Laboratory, which was the UK's unsuccessful 2010 nomination as a World Heritage Site, and is (as of 2016) on the Tentative List of World Heritage Sites. The nature reserve is also part of the West Kent Golf Course and Down House Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation.According to the LWT, the most important part of the reserve is chalk grassland in a dry valley, and it "was crucial to Charles Darwin’s study of local wildlife that appeared in The Origin of Species and his later botanical books especially his study of orchids." It has a number of scarce orchids, including the nationally rare man orchid. Other wild flowers include wild thyme and yellow rattle, and over 28 species of butterfly have been recorded, such as the increasingly scarce small blue.A public footpath from Milking Lane in Orpington crosses the site.

The Tatsfield Receiving Station – known formally as the BBC Engineering Measurement and Receiving Station – was a radio broadcasting signals-receiving and frequency-measuring facility operated by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on the North Downs just south of London in the United Kingdom. The station was in operation between 1929 and 1974.
