Ishneich is a waterfall of Scotland.This stunning waterfall can be reached by following the John Muir trail past the Burncrooks reservoir and through the forest. Venture off the John Muir trail along a red coloured forest path on the left just before you reach trees on either side of the path. At the bottom of this path is the burn that feeds the falls. West Dunbartonshire (Scots: Wast Dunbairtonshire; Scottish Gaelic: Siorrachd Dhùn Breatann an Iar, pronounced [ˈʃirˠəxk ɣum ˈpɾʲɛht̪ən̪ˠ əɲ ˈiəɾ]) is one of the 32 local government council areas of Scotland. The area lies to the north-west of the Glasgow City council area and contains many of Glasgow's commuter towns and villages. West Dunbartonshire also borders Argyll and Bute, East Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire and Stirling. The council area was formed in 1996 from the former Clydebank district and the eastern part of Dumbarton district, which had both been part of Strathclyde Region. West Dunbartonshire has three main urban areas: Clydebank, Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven. The area also includes the intervening rural areas, including the Kilpatrick Hills and the south-eastern bank of Loch Lomond. The council is based at 16 Church Street in Dumbarton, although Clydebank is the largest town.

Gartocharn (; Scottish Gaelic: Gart a’ Chàirn [ˈkarˠʃt̪ ə ˈxaːrˠɲ]) is a village in West Dunbartonshire in Scotland, United Kingdom. It is the only village in the parish of Kilmaronock (not to be confused with the town of Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire). The parish has a population of c. 680.It lies on the A811, the main road from Balloch to Stirling. It is close to the shore of Loch Lomond, and to Ross Priory. It is dominated by a nearby hill, Duncryne, also known as the Kilmaronock Dumpling. The village has two churches, a primary school, convenience shop and garage. There is a weekly fruit and vegetable market held at France Farm. The former Gartocharn Hotel is now closed The local bi-monthly magazine is known as the ‘Gartorag’. Historically, the village's economy was based on agriculture, being surrounded by many large farms and estates. In recent years, this has dwindled, however, there is still a large haulage firm, Coopers, and the Lochs and Glens holiday company based in the village. Sir Walter Scott is reputed to have written Lady of the Lake whilst staying at Ross Priory and Gartochraggan, on the waters edge, north of the village. In the 1870s and 1880s, the village had a football side, Kilmaronock Thistle F.C., which played in the Scottish Cup.

West Dunbartonshire is a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election and covers the same area as the county of West Dunbartonshire. The current constituency was first used in the 2005 general election. There was also an earlier West Dunbartonshire constituency, from 1950 to 1983. The current MP is Martin Docherty-Hughes of the Scottish National Party, who was elected at the 2015 general election and was re-elected at the 2017 general election and 2019 general election.

Ross Priory is an early 19th-century country house located west of Gartocharn, West Dunbartonshire, on the south shore of Loch Lomond, Scotland. From the 14th century the estate, known as The Ross, was owned by a branch of the Buchanan family of Buchanan Castle, who built a house here in 1695. The present house is the result of remodelling by James Gillespie Graham and was complete in 1816. The term "priory" does not imply ecclesiastical provenance, but is simply a 19th-century romantic affectation. Sir Walter Scott spent time at Ross Priory in the years following the rebuilding. It was owned by subsequent members of the Leith-Buchanan family until the later 20th century. In 1973 it was sold to Strathclyde University and now serves as a recreational and conference centre. Ross Priory is protected as a category A listed building, and the grounds are included on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant gardens.

Buchanan Auld House (or Buchanan Old House) is a ruined house in Stirlingshire, Scotland, located 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of the village of Drymen. Historic seat of the Clan Buchanan, the house was the property of the Chiefs of Clan Buchanan who controlled the surrounding lands from at least 1231 until 1682. Following the death of John Buchanan in the late 17th century, the estate passed to the Grahams who substantially rebuilt the house during the 18th century. The property burned down in 1852 and James Graham, 4th Duke of Montrose commissioned the country house of Buchanan Castle as a replacement, which was built in 1852-1858 and stands 0.5 miles (0.80 km) to the southeast. The ruins of Buchanan Auld House exist today as part of a courtyard attached to the clubhouse of the Buchanan Castle Golf Club, which occupies the surrounding lands.

Aber Isle or Aber Inch is a small island in Loch Lomond, in west central Scotland. It is near the mouth of the River Endrick, by the abandoned village of Aber, and is 1⁄2 mile (800 metres) from Clairinch. Its name derives from the Celtic word for the mouth of a river, or Gaelic eabar meaning "mud, mire".There are some trees on it including alders and a collection of Scots pine and Hornbeam. It is owned as part of Claddoch, north of Gartocharn.

The Endrick Water or River Endrick (Scottish Gaelic: Eunarag) is a river which flows into the eastern end of Loch Lomond, Scotland. Its drainage basin covers a large part of the west of Stirling District. The Burnfoot Burn rising on the southern slopes of the Gargunnock Hills and the Backside Burn rising on the eastern slopes of the Fintry Hills combine to form the Endrick Water which flows south before turning sharply westwards at the foot of the western dam of Carron Valley Reservoir. The river flows through Strathendrick, the village of Fintry and past Balfron and Drymen before entering Loch Lomond.

Buchanan Castle is a ruined castle in Stirlingshire, Scotland, located 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the village of Drymen. The house was commissioned by The 4th Duke of Montrose and built in 1852-1858 as a home for the Montrose family, serving as such until 1925. It was built as a replacement for Buchanan Auld House, which is located 0.5 miles (0.80 km) to the northwest but was destroyed in a fire in 1852. The old house and surrounding lands had been the property of the Clan Buchanan but passed to the Clan Graham in the late 17th century. The roof of the building was removed in 1954 and the condition of the house has since deteriorated, but it remains the seat of the Clan Graham.

Dunbartonshire (Scottish Gaelic: Siorrachd Dhùn Breatann) or the County of Dumbarton is a historic county, lieutenancy area and registration county in the west central Lowlands of Scotland lying to the north of the River Clyde. Dunbartonshire borders Perthshire to the north, Stirlingshire to the east, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire to the south, and Argyllshire to the west. The county covered a similar area to the earldom and later duchy of Lennox. The historic county gives its name to two of Scotland's modern council areas, being East Dunbartonshire and West Dunbartonshire.

Milton of Buchanan is a small village in Stirling, Scotland, within the parish of Buchanan. Historically, the village was in the Registration County of Stirlingshire. It was the main village of the parish of Buchanan. However, the village is now a quiet collection of houses along with a school, village hall, and church.

Croftamie (Scottish Gaelic Croit Sheumaidh) is a small village and community council area in the Stirling council area in Scotland. It lies to the south of the larger village of Drymen. The village was traditionally part of Dunbartonshire. Under the local government reforms in 1975 it became part of the Dumbarton district of Strathclyde. A boundary change in 1983 transferred Croftamie to the Stirling District of the Central Region. Further reforms in 1996 saw the Central Region abolished and Stirling District became the unitary Stirling council area. There is an active community council for Croftamie, which generally meets at the But and Ben public house.Drymen station on the Forth and Clyde Junction Railway was situated in the village.
