Nahalat Shiv'a

Hillel Street (Hebrew: רחוב הלל, Rehov Hillel) is one of the central streets of Jerusalem. It connects King George Street to the small Ben Sira Street and the Mamilla neighbourhood and is parallel to Ben Yehuda Street. The lower part of the road is between Independence Park and the Nahalat Shiva neighborhood. The street was named for Hillel the Elder, and a street parallel to it is called Shammai Street (after Shammai the Elder). Most of the buildings on the street date from the British Mandate period and follow the architectural style of that time. It is located in the business district. There are shops, cafes, pubs and office buildings. On the street is the first two original cafés for Aroma Espresso Bar and Cafe Hillel (which got its name from the street).Among the notable buildings are: Hotel Eden, former offices of the Bank of Israel and today the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption Jerusalem Hotel Tower (Migdal Yerushalayim) Italian Synagogue and the Umberto Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art Beit Agron, which houses the offices of the foreign press of the government

The Umberto Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art (Hebrew: מוזיאון יהדות איטליה על שם ש. א. נכון; Italian: museo di arte ebraica italiana u. nahon) is a museum dedicated to preserving the heritage, art and culture of the Jews of Italy, located in Jerusalem, Israel. The museum houses cultural and spiritual treasures of Italian Jewry, from the Renaissance to the present day. Opened in 1981, the museum's collection was transferred from Italy to Israel in the 1950s and 1960s. This transfer, initiated by Dr. Umberto Nahon and other members of the Italian Jewish community in Israel, was a rescue operation to prevent the destruction and loss of these items due to neglect after World War II. The collection includes Holy Arks and hundreds of other items. The museum, including its synagogue, is dedicated to the cultural assets of the Jewish communities in Italy, serving as a significant resource for learning about and preserving the rich heritage of these communities. It is unique as the only museum in the world that presents a comprehensive collection from all Jewish communities in Italy.

The Palace Hotel (Hebrew: מלון פאלאס) was a historic hotel built across from the Mamilla Pool in Jerusalem by the Supreme Muslim Council. The hotel opened in 1929.

The Friends of Zion Museum is a museum in the historic Nahalat Shiv'a neighborhood of downtown Jerusalem. The museum celebrates Christian Zionists and their contribution to Israel.

On 13 November 1975, a bomb exploded outside an ice cream parlor in Jerusalem, Israel. The bomb had been placed in a baggage cart by Arab militants and exploded outside an ice cream shop in Zion Square on Jaffa Road at around 7:00 pm. Many Storefronts were damaged. Six teenagers were killed that night, and another died the next day. Including three boys and three girls. 42 people were injured, including two tourists from the United States and Netherlands, all of which were treated at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Two Lebanon-based Palestinian groups, Fatah and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed responsibility for the attack, which happened three days after United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379 was passed, and on the anniversary of Yasser Arafat's speech to the United Nations. According to historian Richard J. Chasdi the attack was perpetrated by Fatah and was intentionally meant to coincide with the speech's anniversary. Wafa described the bombing as "a heroic and daring operation" which had caused "[a] large number of casualties among the settlers... according to preliminary estimates 20 were killed and 50 wounded, most seriously."

West Jerusalem or Western Jerusalem (Hebrew: מַעֲרַב יְרוּשָׁלַיִם, Ma'aráv Yerushaláyim; Arabic: القدس الغربية, al-Quds al-Ġarbiyyah) refers to the section of Jerusalem that was controlled by Israel at the end of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. As the city was divided by the Green Line (Israel's erstwhile de facto border, established by the 1949 Armistice Agreements), West Jerusalem was formally delineated as the counterpart to East Jerusalem, which was controlled by Jordan. Though Israel has controlled the entirety of Jerusalem since the 1967 Arab–Israeli War, the boundaries of West Jerusalem and East Jerusalem remain internationally recognized as de jure due to their significance to the process of determining the status of Jerusalem, which has been among the primary points of contention in the Arab–Israeli conflict and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. With certain exceptions, undivided Jerusalem is not internationally recognized as the sovereign territory of either Israel or the State of Palestine. However, recognition of Israeli sovereignty over only West Jerusalem is more widely accepted as a plausible diplomatic position, as the United Nations regards East Jerusalem as part of the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

On July 4, 1975, a Palestinian terrorist exploded a booby-trapped refrigerator which contained five kilograms of explosives inside an appliance store at Zion Square in the center of Jerusalem, killing 15 people and wounding 77.

Barood (Barud) is an Israeli bar-restaurant off Jaffa Road in Jerusalem, serving Sephardic cuisine. It was founded in 1995. The last restaurant in its area open on Shabbat, the restaurant is a frequent scene of demonstrations by Haredi Jews. The restaurant features live music.

The Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem (MTJ; Hebrew: מוזיאון הסובלנות ירושלים) is a museum, convention center and entertainment venue in downtown Jerusalem. The museum's construction was controversial due to its intrusion into the Mamilla Cemetery, a centuries-old Muslim burial site.

Zion Square (Hebrew: כיכר ציון, Kikar Tziyon) is a public square in Jerusalem, located at the intersection of Jaffa Road, Ben Yehuda Street, Herbert Samuel Street, and Yoel Moshe Salomon Street. The square is one of the vertices of the Downtown Triangle commercial district. Since the British Mandate era, Zion Square has been the focal point of the cultural life of downtown Jerusalem. The square is busy day and night with tourists, elderly immigrants, overseas students, local youth, street performers, and religious activists. In recent decades, the square has become a hangout for disaffected and homeless youth. From the 1930s to 2011, the square was a popular site for mass protests and demonstrations.

A Palestinian suicide bombing was carried out on September 9, 2003 in Café Hillel in German Colony, Jerusalem. Seven people were killed in the attack and over 50 were injured.A few hours prior to the Café Hillel bombing, Palestinian militants carried out a suicide attack in a bus stop next to the military base Tzrifin.

Agron House (Hebrew: בית אגרון, Beit Agron) is a landmark in downtown Jerusalem. Constructed in memory of Gershon Agron, it has housed various Israeli national institutions in pursuit of the arts. It is located at 37 Hillel Street.
