Bang Rak (Thai: บางรัก, pronounced [bāːŋ rák]) is a khwaeng (subdistrict) and historic neighbourhood in Bangkok's Bang Rak District. It lies between the Chao Phraya River and Charoen Krung Road, and was home to communities of European expatriates who settled in the area mostly during the second half of the 19th century as Siam (as Thailand was then known) opened up to the West. Among them were the Portuguese, French and British, whose embassies occupied extensive grounds in the area, Danes who founded shipping companies as well as the historic Oriental Hotel, and Catholic missionaries who established some of the first schools in the country on the grounds surrounding Assumption Cathedral. Bang Rak was among the city's busiest commercial neighbourhoods at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries, but declined in prominence as newer development soon moved elsewhere. Beginning in the 2010s, urban revitalization efforts have led the area to become known as the Charoenkrung Creative District, a project led by the Thailand Creative & Design Center, which re-established its headquarters at the Grand Postal Building in 2017.

The Embassy of France in Bangkok is the chief diplomatic mission of France in Thailand, and one of the oldest in the country. It was established as a consulate in its current location on the Chao Phraya River off Charoen Krung Road in Bangkok's Bang Rak District in 1857, following the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Commerce which re-established diplomatic relations between the two countries the previous year. The mission was elevated to a legation in 1892 and an embassy in 1949, and supports the ambassador in promoting political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries. The original embassy building, which now serves as the ambassador's residence, predates the embassy's establishment, and was probably built during the 1840s–1850s, undergoing major modifications between 1875 and 1894, as well as several later renovations and restorations. It is recognized as a historic heritage building, having received the ASA Architectural Conservation Award in 1984, and stands in contrast with the striking contemporary design of the embassy's new office building, completed in 2015.

Surawong Road (Thai: ถนนสุรวงศ์, pronounced [sù.ra.wōŋ]) is a road in the Bang Rak District of Bangkok, Thailand, linking Charoen Krung Road to Rama IV and forming the boundary between Suriyawong and Si Lom subdistricts. It was built at the end of the 19th century during Bangkok's period of expansion following the country's opening up to the West, and was home to many leading businesses, upper-class families, and members of the expatriate community. It was known as a Western-style nightlife entertainment district during the 1920s, and was—and still is—home to many leading hotels. The road grew as a business district along with the nearby Si Lom Road during the mid-20th century, but lagged behind in development toward the end of the century due to its limited traffic capacity. Today, it is still home to several historic landmarks, as well as many well-known restaurants.

Assumption Suksa School (AS) is the first school affiliated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bangkok. It is a private school for girls located in Bangkok, Thailand. Assumption Suksa School was founded by Pastor Leo Perudong. This school provides general education for students from kindergarten 1 to grade 12 including kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, and high school education.

The Peninsula Bangkok is a 5-star hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. The hotel opened in 1998, counting 37 floors and 367 rooms. The hotel was 50% owned by the Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels (HSH) and 50% by the Phataraprasit family until 2020, when HSH purchased the Phataraprasit family's stake in the property.

Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok is a five-star hotel in Bangkok owned in part and managed by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. Located on the Chao Phraya River, the original structure was the first hotel built in Thailand when it opened as The Oriental in 1876. Today, the hotel is one of two flagship properties of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

Assumption College (Thai: โรงเรียนอัสสัมชัญ) is a private Catholic boys school in Bangkok, Thailand. The school, founded by Rev. Fr. Emile-August Colombet on 16 February 1885, is the first school founded by the Gabrielite Brothers in Thailand. Assumption College is the third-oldest boys school in Thailand.The school provides education for students from years 2 through 13. Matriculation, especially in the first grade, is highly competitive. Assumption College has a long list of distinguished former pupils including four Prime Ministers of Thailand, 15 privy counselors, and three pupils among Thailand's 10 Richest.Assumption College is one of four schools which participates in Jaturamitr Samakkee, a traditional football match by the four oldest boys' schools in Thailand: Suankularb Wittayalai School, Debsirin School, Bangkok Christian College and Assumption College.

Haroon Mosque, or Masjid Haroon (Thai: มัสยิดฮารูณ), is a mosque in Bang Rak, Bangkok, Thailand. It was founded in 1837 by Musa Bafadel, an Indonesian-Arab trader from south Borneo, and named after his son, Haroon. Originally built in wood in the Javanese style on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the mosque was relocated about 500 metres inland during the reign of King Rama V in 1899 when the government constructed a customs house at the pier, and the community was given a larger plot of land for the new site. In 1934 the wooden structure was replaced with the present two-storey building, influenced by European townhouse design with neo-classical floral motifs, Romanesque pillars, and wooden shutters. The present two-storey structure continues to serve local worshippers and visitors, and the mosque is also known for hosting a halal food festival.

The Assumption Cathedral (Thai: อาสนวิหารอัสสัมชัญ) is the principal Roman Catholic church of Thailand, located at 23 Oriental Avenue, New Road, in the Bang Rak District of Bangkok. It is the main church of the Archdiocese of Bangkok. The cathedral hosted both of the Papal visits to Thailand; Pope John Paul II in 1984 and Pope Francis in 2019.

The old Customs House (Thai: ศุลกสถาน, RTGS: Sunlakasathan) is a historic building in Bangkok, located on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River in Bang Rak District. It was built in 1888 as one of the many Western-style buildings commissioned by King Chulalongkorn, and was designed by Joachim Grassi in the neo-Palladian style. The building fell into disrepair during the mid-20th century. Beginning in 2019, it is undergoing restoration and re-development as a luxury hotel.

The East Asiatic Building is a historic building in Bangkok's Bang Rak District. It sits on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River, opposite the Oriental Hotel on Soi Charoen Krung 40 and adjacent to the Catholic Mission and Assumption Cathedral. The building was built c. 1900 in Renaissance Revival style to designs by Annibale Rigotti, and served as the headquarters of the East Asiatic Company (Thailand) until 1995. The building is well-conserved, and received the ASA Architectural Conservation Award in 1984. Nowadays, it is used as a commercial event space, administrated by Charoenkrung Studio, and is often rented as a filming location. The building is generally closed to the public, but was opened to visitors in November 2018 when it was one of the venues for the Bangkok Art Biennale.

Assumption Convent School (ASC) is a private girls' school in Thailand. It was founded in 1904 by the Roman Catholic Mission of Siam and has since been managed by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres. The school is located in the vicinity of the Assumption Cathedral in Bangkok's Bang Rak District.
