Sutton Poyntz Liberty was a liberty in the county of Dorset, England, containing the following parishes: Chickerell (part) Preston StockwoodSutton Poyntz is also a small and ill-defined village which forms a northern extension to the larger village of Preston. It lies in a small enclosed valley beneath the Osmington White Horse, a local landmark.

Bennetts Water Gardens is an 8-acre (32,000 m2) garden in Chickerell, near Weymouth, Dorset, in southern England. It holds national and international collections of water lilies which flower from late May through to September. The plants are displayed in a series of ponds and lakes. A feature of the garden is a blue Japanese bridge built in 1999 to celebrate 100 years since Claude Monet painted his famous piece Water Lily Pond 1899. The site was originally a clay pit as far back as 1859; Oxford Clay was dug by hand from the ground for brickmaking. Today a museum on the site details this local history, including Chickerell village, which is mentioned in the Domesday Book; Chesil Beach; and The Fleet lagoon. The collection of Nymphaea (Water Lily) is accredited with Plant Heritage as a National Plant Collection.

Charlestown is a suburb of Weymouth in Dorset, England, situated in the west of the town beside The Fleet, although it is in Chickerell parish (population 5,282 in 2001).

Fleet Old Church is a Church of England mortuary chapel in Fleet, Dorset, England. It was formerly the village's parish church until its partial destruction in the Great Storm of 1824. The surviving chancel is now a Grade II* listed building.

Budmouth Academy (formerly Budmouth College) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form situated in Weymouth, Dorset, overlooking the Jurassic Coast in England. It is named after the semi-fictional town of Budmouth (based on Weymouth) in Thomas Hardy's novels.

Fleet is a small, scattered village and civil parish in south Dorset, England, situated approximately 2.5 miles (4.0 km) west of Weymouth. It consists of the small settlements of East Fleet, West Fleet, Fleet House, and Fleet Common, all of which are close to the shore of The Fleet, a brackish lagoon behind Chesil Beach. The name "Fleet" is derived from fleot, Old English for an inlet or estuary. Dorset County Council estimated that the population of the civil parish was 60 in 2013.The Great Storm of 1824 caused waves to breach Chesil Beach, and many of the buildings in the village were destroyed, including the nave of the original parish church. An eye-witness described the event: At six o'-clock on the morning of the 23rd I was standing with other boys by the gate near the cattle pound when I saw, rushing up the valley, the tidal wave, driven by a hurricane and bearing upon its crest a whole haystack and other debris from the fields below. We ran for our lives to Chickerell, and when we returned found that five houses had been swept away and the church was in ruins. A new church, Holy Trinity, was built a short distance inland and only the chancel of the old one stands today.J. Meade Falkner's smuggling novel Moonfleet is set in the village. There is a brass memorial to Falkner in the old church, together with brass plate memorials to members of the Mohun family whose name was used in the novel. Moonfleet Manor Hotel is a Georgian building in the west of the parish on the shore of The Fleet, previously called Fleet House. The bouncing bomb, designed by Barnes Wallis and immortalised in the film The Dam Busters, was tested on the waters of the Fleet.

Holy Trinity Church is a Church of England church in Fleet, Dorset, England. It was built in 1827–29, replacing an earlier parish church which was partially destroyed during the Great Storm of 1824. Holy Trinity remains in religious use and has been Grade I Listed since 1956.

Chesil Beach (also known as Chesil Bank) in Dorset, England is one of three major shingle beach structures in Britain. Its name is derived from the Old English ceosel or cisel, meaning "gravel" or "shingle". It runs for a length of 29 kilometres (18 mi) from West Bay to the Isle of Portland and in places is up to 15 metres (50 ft) high and 200 metres (660 ft) wide. Behind the beach is the Fleet, a shallow tidal lagoon. Both are part of the Jurassic Coast and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and together form an SSSI and Ramsar Site. The beach is often identified as a tombolo, although research into the geomorphology of the area has revealed that it is in fact a barrier beach which has "rolled" landwards, joining the mainland with the Isle of Portland and giving the appearance of a tombolo.The beach curves sharply at the eastern end, near the village of Chiswell, and forms Chesil Cove against the cliffs of the Isle of Portland, and this protects the low-lying village from flooding. It has been the scene of many shipwrecks and was named "Dead Man's Bay" by Thomas Hardy. The beach provides shelter from the prevailing winds and waves for the town of Weymouth, Dorset and the village of Chiswell on Portland. Simon Jenkins rates the view of Chesil Beach from Abbotsbury along the coast to Portland Bill as one of the top ten in England.

The Bob Lucas Stadium (formerly named the Wessex Stadium) is a football stadium in Weymouth, England. It has been the home ground of Weymouth F.C. since 1987. It was formerly a greyhound racing and speedway stadium.

Wyke Regis Training Area is an army training area primarily located in the parish and town of Chickerell, but near to the parish of Wyke Regis in neighbouring Weymouth, Dorset, England. The training area is located at three different sites. It is part of the Ministry of Defence's Defence Training Estate (DTE), which covers 240,000 hectares of land across the country, used to train armed forces. Although mainly used by the army, the training area has allowed an increasing amount of public use of both the climbing facilities and adventure training over the last few years. When the firing range is in use, signs, restriction gates and red flags are used to require walkers to divert inland around the back of the range before returning to the Coastal Path.

Southill, Weymouth is a modern suburb of Weymouth, Dorset, England, and lies about 2 miles (3 km) north of the town centre. It was developed on the western shore of Radipole Lake in several phases from the 1960s onwards. At its centre lay a post office, confusingly and wrongly named South Hill Post Office, but this closed in January 2007. There is a small shopping centre, a community centre, a church and a pub, the John Gregory. A primary school was built to serve the new estate in the 1970s. Southill is part of the parish of Radipole, the hill itself coming between Radipole and Weymouth..
