Quarten

Murg railway station (German: Bahnhof Murg) is a railway station in Quarten, in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. It is an intermediate stop on the Ziegelbrücke–Sargans line. The station is a short walk from the ferry across the Walensee to Quinten.

Unterterzen railway station (German: Bahnhof Unterterzen) is a railway station in Quarten, in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. It is an intermediate stop on the Ziegelbrücke–Sargans line.

Quinten is a hamlet situated on the north shore of the Walensee in Switzerland. It belongs to the municipality of Quarten. As there are no roads leading to Quinten, it is only reachable by boat or on foot.

The Walensee (German pronunciation: [ˈvaːln̩ˌzeː] ), also known as Lake Walen or Lake Walenstadt from Walenstadt, is one of the larger lakes in Switzerland, with about two thirds of its area in the Canton of St. Gallen and about one third in the Canton of Glarus. Other towns and villages at the lake include Weesen, Quinten, Quarten, and Murg. The three main rivers leading to the lake are the Seez, Murgbach, and Linth. The last continues its course from Walensee to Lake Zurich. The Schnittlauchinsel, at the eastern end of the lake, is the only island in the Walensee. The Churfirsten range raises steeply on the north side from the lake's level at 419 m to 2,306 m above sea level. On the south, the lake is overlooked by the Mürtschenstock Massif, whose peak is 2,441 m above sea level. The highest point of the lake's drainage basin is the Tödi (3,614 m).The lake provided the inspiration for a solo piano piece by Hungarian Romantic composer Franz Liszt, Au lac de Wallenstadt. The piece is part of a collection of solo piano works inspired by his travels to Switzerland in the 1830s.

Mols railway station (German: Bahnhof Mols) is a now disfunct railway station in Quarten, in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. The station was closed on 12 December 2021, because of ongoing construction work on the Bommerstein tunnel and low ridership. Buses continue to stop at the station.The station used to be an intermediate stop of the former S4 circle line (rerouted in December 2023) on the Ziegelbrücke–Sargans line.

The Leistchamm (2,101 m) is a mountain of the Appenzell Alps, located east of Amden in the canton of St. Gallen. It lies at the western end of the range overlooking the Walensee, named Churfirsten.

The Paxmal is a peace monument built by Karl Bickel between 1924 and 1949, in Walenstadtberg above Walenstadt, in front of the Churfirsten mountain range in Switzerland.The left wall depicts the earthly life: a human couple in its existence and development, love and procreation. The right wall is devoted to the spiritual life: the beings who are awakened, struggling, and which keep growing. Karl Bickel was a Swiss artist who worked for the Swiss Post as a stamps graphic designer.

The Selun is one of the peaks of the Churfirsten range, located in the Appenzell Alps. It lies between the valley of Toggenburg and Lake Walenstadt in the canton of St. Gallen. The summit is easily accessible by a trail on the northern side. The peak is named for the extended alpine pasture Selunalp to the peak's north-west, situated above c. 1700 m. The name's etymology is uncertain, possibly from a *sellonem (Latin sella) "saddle". Named for Selunalp is Johannes Seluner (c. 1828–1898) who was found in 1844 as a feral child living in Wildenmannlisloch cave.

The Schnittlauchinsel (German, lit. "chives island") is an island in the Walensee, located in the Canton of St. Gallen. It is the only island in the lake and among the largest in the canton of St. Gallen. The island has a length of 80 metres and a maximum width of 20 metres. Its highest point is 420 metres above sea level, only 1 metre above lake level (419 m). The minimum distance from the shore is about 320 metres. Politically, the island belongs to the municipality of Quarten in the district of Sarganserland.

Mühlehorn railway station (German: Bahnhof Mühlehorn) is a railway station in Mühlehorn, in the Swiss canton of Glarus. It is an intermediate stop on the Ziegelbrücke–Sargans line.

The Frümsel is one of the peaks of the Churfirsten group, located in the Appenzell Alps. It lies between the valley of Toggenburg and Lake Walenstadt in the canton of St. Gallen. The summit is easily accessible by a trail on the northern side.

Kerenzen-Mühlehorn is a former municipality in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland. It ceased to exist in 1887, when it was split into the three new municipalities Filzbach, Mühlehorn and Obstalden.
