Granada Mosque

Sacromonte, sometimes also called Sacramonte, is a traditional neighbourhood in the eastern area of the city of Granada in Andalusia, Spain. It is one of the six neighbourhoods that make up the urban district of Albayzín and borders the neighbourhoods of Albayzín, San Pedro, Realejo-San Matías, El Fargue and Haza Grande. It is located on the hillside and in the valley of Valparaíso, opposite the Alhambra – emblem of Granada. The neighbourhood occupies both banks of the Darro river, whose name seems to be derived from the phrase "d'auro" ("of gold") because of its famous gold-bearing sediments. Traditionally the neighborhood of the Granadian Romani, who settled in Granada after the Christian conquest of the city in 1492, it is one of the most picturesque neighbourhoods of the city, with cave houses installed in whitewashed caves.The Romani of Sacromonte have a mixed language known as Caló, which has seen a rapid decline in use over the past century. It is derived from India, where the Romani originated. The Romani of Sacromonte were famously portrayed by the poet Federico García Lorca in his book of poems Romancero Gitano.

The Church of San Salvador (Spanish: Iglesia de El Salvador), also known as the Church of El Salvador or Collegiate Church of San Salvador, is a church and historic monument in Granada, Spain. The church is located in the historic Albaicín neighbourhood, at Plaza del Salvador (off Cuesta del Chapiz street). It was built in the 16th century on the site of the neighbourhood's former main mosque and incorporates some of its remains.

The Archaeological Museum of Granada is an archaeological museum in the Albayzín district, Granada, Spain. It was established in 1879.The museum is located at 41, Carrera del Darro in the Castril palace, dating from the 16th century. It hosts many artefacts from a range of time periods, namely halls dedicated to Paleolithic and hominization process; Neolithic and Eneolithic; Bronze Age; Colonizations and Hispano-Roman peoples; Roman era, Late Roman and Paleo Christian; Hispano-Visigothic and Mozarab archeology; and Western Middle Ages and Hispano-Muslim Archeology.It includes a Renaissance patio. The building's façade was created in 1593.

The Castril palace (also House of Castril) is a Renaissance style palace located in Sacromonte, a district of the Spanish city of Granada. Nowadays it hosts the Archaeological Museum of Granada. The house is nailed in the Race of the Darro, in the old Arab district of Ajsaris, seat of 16th century's granadine nobility. The palace is one of the best Renaissance palaces of Granada and belonged to the family of Hernando de Zafra, secretary of Catholic monarchs who participated actively in reconquering it from the Muslim hands during the Reconquista. At the top of the facade the date of its foundation is recorded: 1539. This work has been attributed to Sebastián de Alcántara, one of the most outstanding disciples of Diego de Siloé. In 1917, the Castril palace was acquired by arabist and orientalist Leopoldo Eguílaz y Yanguas to make it a definitive location of the Archaeological Museum of Granada.

The Maristan of Granada (Spanish: Maristán de Granada) was a bimaristan (hospital) in Granada, Spain. It was built in the 14th century during the Nasrid period and demolished in the 19th century.

The Bañuelo or El Bañuelo (a diminutive of Spanish baño "bath"), also known as the Baño del Nogal ("Bath of the Walnut") or Hammam al-Yawza, is a preserved historic hammam (Islamic bathhouse) in Granada, Spain. It is located in the Albaicin quarter of the city, on the banks of the Darro River. It was used as a bathhouse up until the 16th century at least, before becoming defunct and being converted to other uses. In the 20th century it underwent numerous restorations by Spanish experts and is now open as a tourist attraction.

Musical Documentation Center of Andalusia (CDMA) is an organization created in 1987 by the Ministry of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía to recover, preserve, catalog, classify and disseminate the musical heritage created in or related to Andalusia in all forms. Its current director is the musicologist Reynaldo Fernández Manzano. The singer Esteban Valdivieso (died 2008) was a director. It is located at C / Carrera del Darro 29-18010 Granada.

The Aljibe del Rey (the King's Cistern) in the Albaicín district in Granada, Spain is a cistern dating from the 10/11th centuries. Built by the Nasrid rulers to provide water to their palace complex, al-Qaṣaba al-Qadīma, it is the largest cistern in the district. The aljibe is now managed by the AguaGranada Foundation and the attached carmen (house) contains an interpretation centre. The aljibe is open daily.

The Church of San Miguel Bajo (Spanish: Iglesia de La Aurora y San Miguel Bajo) is a church and historic monument in Granada, Spain. The church is located in the historic Albaicín neighbourhood, at Placeta de San Miguel Bajo. It was built in the 16th century on the site of the neighbourhood's former main mosque and incorporates an element of its remains.

The Palace of the Forgotten (Spanish: Palacio de los Olvidados) is a museum in Granada, Spain, dedicated to the Spanish Inquisition, Jewish history, and Granada's and Andalusia's heritage. The building is located in the Albaicín, a neighbourhood declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994 as an extension of the monumental complex of the Alhambra and the Generalife.The museum occupies the symbolic Casa-Palacio de Santa Inés (Palace-House of St. Agnes), a restored 16th century building declared Bien de Interés Cultural (heritage site of cultural interest). On its façade there is an unidentified coat of arms, with features suggesting it belonged to a converted Jew who intended to show based on heraldry his status of pureza de sangre (blood purity). The museum, opened in 2014, also offers guided tours after previous booking.

The School of Arabic Studies (in Spanish Escuela de Estudios Árabes, EEA) is a research Institute of the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC) with headquarters at the Houses of the Chapiz in Granada. This building, declared an Object of Cultural Interest according to Spanish legislation, is made up of two former Morisco houses located in the well-known Granada district of Albaicín. The School was born in 1932, when the Schools of Arabic Studies of Madrid and Granada were created with the aim of "protecting and encouraging Arabic studies in Spain". In its early stages, the Granada School was entitled to teach Arabic language and civilization, Hebrew language, Muslim cultural and political history, Islamic law and institutions, Arabic dialectology, art and archaeology. In 1939, after the Spanish Civil War, the School became a part of the newly created Spanish National Research Council and, consequently, it was devoted to research according to the guidelines of this institution. The School of Arabic Studies of Granada is nowadays the only Institute that keeps the original name, after the School of Madrid took other names, and the only CSIC Institute entirely devoted to Arabic studies. The School has a sole department, called "Department of Arabic Studies", which is made up of four research groups dealing with history of al-Andalus, Arabic historiography, medieval archaeology, Islamic architecture, natural science in al-Andalus, Arabic biographical literature, Islamic law, and edition and translation of Arabic texts.

Dar al-Horra (Arabic: دار الحرة; Spanish: Palacio de Dar al-Horra) is a former 15th-century Nasrid palace located in the Albaicín quarter of Granada, Spain. Since the early 16th century it was used as part of the Monastery of Santa Isabel la Real. It is now a historic monument.
