Highland Park Historic District (Denver, Colorado)

The Romeo Block, located at 2944 Zuni St. in Denver, Colorado, was built in 1889. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.It was designed in 1889 by the Baerresen Brothers, Harold and Viggio, for use by five storefronts on the street level, as a rooming house on the second floor, and possibly also as a blacksmith shop in the basement.

The All Saints Episcopal Church in Denver, Colorado, later known as Chapel of Our Merciful Saviour, is a historic church at 2222 W. 32nd Avenue. It was built in 1890 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

St. Elizabeth's Retreat Chapel is a historic Catholic chapel at 2825 W. 32nd Avenue in Denver, Colorado, United States. It was built in 1894 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.It was designed by architect Frederick G. Sterner and has an apsidal plan.

North High School is a historic public high school located in the Northside of Denver, Colorado, United States. The school is part of the Denver Public Schools system and has been in continuous operation since 1883. It is one of four original high schools in Denver; the other three are East, West, and South.

Highland is a distinct city-center neighborhood in Denver, Colorado, United States, bounded by West 38th Avenue to the north, a Union Pacific Railroad line on the east, the South Platte River to the southeast, Speer Boulevard on the south, and Federal Boulevard on the west. The Highlands is sometimes used to refer to two separate city-center neighborhoods in Denver; Highland and West Highland, although the two neighborhoods are distinct. Highland and West Highland are both in the area that is referred to as the Northside. Highland is located immediately northwest of downtown. Note that the Highland neighborhood association has a slightly different definition with the easternmost boundary stopping at I-25. And the West Highland neighborhood to the immediate west of Highland, with the borders of 38th and 29th Avenues on the north and south and Federal and Sheridan Boulevards on the east and west. To distinguish between its immediately adjacent neighbor, West Highland, Highland is sometimes referred to as East Highland, Lower Highland or LoHi. The two together are casually called "the Highlands," a term which often falsely encompasses other Northwest Denver neighborhoods such as Jefferson Park, Sunnyside and Berkeley. Realtors have particularly pushed the inclusion of the recently gentrified Berkeley, located directly north of West Highland, as part of the Highlands, sometimes going so far as to refer to Berkeley and parts of Sunnyside as the "Upper Highlands". To add further confusion, within the Highlands neighborhoods there are several historic designations of various degrees, including Potter Highlands, Scottish Highlands and Highlands Park.West Highland and the Highland neighborhoods (large portions of zip codes 80211 and 80212) currently have a population of about 57,000 people.

The Highlands Masonic Lodge, also known as the Pythian Building, is a historic building located in Denver, Colorado. Built in 1905 and constructed in the Classical Revival style, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.Originally constructed as a meeting place for the Knights of Pythias, it was later the meeting place of Highlands Lodge No. 86, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.It is a two-story red brick front-gabled building with four gray brick pilasters in its symmetrical front facade. It is 36 by 75 feet (11 m × 23 m) in plan. Its cornice and pediment are supported by decorative brackets. It is unusual for a Classical Revival building to have been front-gabled, but that configuration can work well in a narrow lot as here.

The St. Dominic's Church in Denver, Colorado, is a historic church at 3005 W. 29th Avenue. It was built during 1923 to 1926 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.Described as Late Gothic Revival in style overall, it is said to exhibit "characteristics of the middle to late Ravonnant and Flamboyant styles." It has a Latin Cross plan. It is 165 feet (50 m) long, 85 feet (26 m) wide, and 80 feet (24 m) high (rooftop level). It has a rose window in a tall parapeted gable.

The Highland Bridge is the third of three pedestrian bridges to connect Downtown Denver with the Highland neighborhood. The bridge crosses the Valley Highway (Interstate 25) between Platte Street and Central Street as an extension of the 16th Street Mall. The bridge was opened on December 16, 2006. It is 325 feet long and cost US $5.2 million to build.

The Highland Park in Denver, Colorado, is a 7-acre (2.8 ha) park area bounded by Highland Park Place, Federal Blvd., and Fairview Place. It was developed as a park in 1907, and since 2013 it has included the Woodbury Branch Library. The park, with the library considered a contributing building, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, as part of a Multiple Property Submission of historic resources of Denver's parks and parkways system.It is a 7-acre (2.8 ha) park which was deemed to have local significance as "a good example of a small multi-use park laid out in the English landscape tradition. The plantings include a sophisticated mix of plant material, including a few Plains Cottonwoods planted as street trees at the turn of the [20th] century." It was developed during 1907-10 by an unknown designer.The listing included a contributing building (the library) and two contributing structures.

National Velvet is a sculpture by John McEnroe, installed at the base of Denver's 16th Street Pedestrian Bridge, in the U.S. state of Colorado.

The Amos H. Root Building, or simply the Root Building, at 1501-1529 Platte St. in Denver, Colorado, was built in 1884 for businessman Amos H. Root. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The building "displays many elements characteristic of commercial structures of the period."It was one of the last cast iron structures built in Denver. Its first floor facade is made of cast iron column and beam construction, which supports two stories above of brickwork. Early on, the building served as a drugstore, furniture store, warehouse, and rooming house. Later it became a manufacturing plant for George Washington Olinger's Highland Casket Company, a company which still existed in 1979.It was deemed "significant for its association with Amos H. Root, an important businessman in Colorado, for its architectural features, and for its role in the commercial development of the downtown Denver."

Confluence Park is an urban park encompassing the confluence of Cherry Creek and the South Platte River in Denver's Lower Downtown (LoDo), a bustling district of 19th-century brick warehouses and storefronts that has been redeveloped since the late 1980s.
