Derwydd Road railway station

Derwydd is a hamlet in the south-east of Carmarthenshire, Wales, historically situated in the parish of Llandybie, north of Ammanford. It is around halfway between Ammanford (to the south) and Llandeilo, at a rural crossroads between the A483 and A476 roads. The name of the hamlet literally means "druid" in Welsh, but is more likely to have derived from derwen (oak tree), which are common in the area.In 1870–72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Derwydd as follows:"DERWIDD, or Derwydd, a hamlet in Llandebie parish, Carmarthen; on the river Cennen, near the Vale of Towy railway, 4 miles SSE of Llandeilo-fawr. Derwidd-Road station, on the railway, is east of the hamlet. Derwidd House belonged to Sir Harry Vaughan, who commanded in the army of Charles I.; belonged afterwards to the Stepneys; and contains some furniture of the time of Henry VIII."

Llandybie railway station serves the village of Llandybie near Ammanford, Carmarthenshire. The railway station is located below street level just off Kings Road. This is a convenient stop for Glynhir Estate and Glynhir Falls. Two miles from the station is the Llandybie 18-hole golf course. All trains serving the station are operated by Transport for Wales. For trains travelling south this is a request stop, but those travelling north have to make a mandatory call so that the train driver can press the plunger on the platform that activates the warning lights & barriers at the adjacent level crossing over the A483 prior to departure.When the original station was replaced, the signal box was saved and can be found on the Gwili Railway at Bronwydd Arms.

Llandybie (Welsh: Llandybïe [ˌɬandəˈbiːɛ] , "Saint Tybie's church") is a village and community which includes a large village of the same name situated 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Ammanford in Carmarthenshire, Wales. According to the United Kingdom Census 2001, Llandybie village itself is home to a population of 3,800, while the community – which also includes the villages of Blaenau, Caerbryn, Capel Hendre, Cwmgwili, Pentregwenlais, Penybanc, Pen-y-groes, and Saron – has 8,800 inhabitants, increasing to 10,994 at the 2011 census.It was in Llandybie, in 1943, that the mineral Brammallite was found for the first time. Llandybie hosted the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 1944. The village is served by Llandybie railway station on the Heart of Wales Line and the A483 road which is the main road. Llandybie Community Primary School is located in the north-easterly fringe of the village. The community is bordered by the communities of: Dyffryn Cennen; Cwmamman; Betws; Ammanford; Llanedi; Llannon; Gorslas; and Llanfihangel Aberbythych, all being in Carmarthenshire.

Dyffryn Cennen is a community located in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The population of the community taken at the 2011 census was 1,176.The community is bordered by the communities of: Manordeilo and Salem; Llangadog; Cwmamman; Llandybie; Llanfihangel Aberbythych; and Llandeilo, all being in Carmarthenshire. It includes the villages of Ffairfach and Trapp. The community is part of the Llandeilo electoral ward for elections to Carmarthenshire County Council.

Coed Llandyfan is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Carmarthen & Dinefwr, Wales. It is an ancient semi-natural broadleaved wood near the small village of Llandyfan, and is 6.7 hectares (17 acres) in extent.

Ffairfach railway station serves the village of Ffairfach, near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The station is on the Heart of Wales Line 30 miles (48 km) north east of Swansea. The railway station is located next to the main road Heol Cennen, which crosses the line at its south end. This is the nearest railway station to Carreg Cennen Castle. The former station signal box has been preserved on the Gwili Railway as a working museum exhibit after being made redundant here when the level crossing was automated.All trains serving the station are operated by Transport for Wales.

Milo is a small village of some 50 homes in the parish of Llanfihangel Aberbythych, some three miles north of Ammanford in Carmarthenshire, Wales. According to the 2001 census, the parish is home to 1,277 inhabitants.

Ysgol Bro Dinefwr is a bilingual secondary school for pupils aged 11–19 in Ffairfach, Carmarthenshire. As of 2016, the school had 1,182 pupils on roll, with approximately 200 of those pupils in the sixth form.

Ffairfach is a village one-half mile (0.80 km) south of the market town of Llandeilo in the eastern part of Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is close to the confluence of the Afon Cennen and the River Towy. Population is 516 according to 2017 census.

Llandilo Bridge railway station served the town of Llandeilo, in the historical county of Carmarthenshire, Wales, from 1865 to 1963 on the Llanelly Railway.

The Afon Cennen is a river in the county of Carmarthenshire, south Wales. It rises on the northern slopes of the Black Mountain to the east of the summit of Tair Carn Uchaf and flows north to Blaencennen Farm, then westwards past Carreg Cennen Castle, continuing through the village of Trap where it exits the Brecon Beacons National Park. Near the hamlet of Derwydd it turns northwest for a mile then northeast to run through the village of Ffairfach to its confluence with the River Towy opposite Llandeilo.The name could derive either from 'cen' meaning lichen or else from a personal name.

Dinefwr Castle (also known as Old Dynevor Castle) is a ruined castle overlooking the River Towy near the town of Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales. It lies on a ridge on the northern bank of the Towy, with a steep drop of one hundred feet to the river. Dinefwr was the chief seat of the Dinefwr dynasty of the Kingdom of Deheubarth. The castle is a Grade I listed building.
