The Leasowes

Leasowes High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Halesowen in the West Midlands of England.It regularly performs well in the Dudley Borough's GCSE league tables; and there is a high application rate amongst primary school leavers, meaning that some local children have to attend schools further afield, such as Earls High School and Windsor High School.

Lapal is a residential area of Halesowen in the West Midlands of England (part of Worcestershire until 1974). It is situated in the east of the town on the border with Birmingham. The Lapal area sits to the East of the Lapal Canal, to the North of Lapal Lane South up to what is now the M5 motorway, to the South West of Carters Lane and Kent Road, and to the South East of Mucklow Hill. Most of the houses were built between 1930 and 1980. In the late 1970s the large Abbeyfields estate was built alongside the currently disused portion of the Dudley Canal, adding to its already extensive owner-occupier housing stock. It is the most affluent suburb of Halesowen, commanding the largest average house prices of all the suburbs in the town. The area is served by Lapal Primary School and Leasowes High School, the Royal Oak public house and a small cluster of shops opposite, including a newsagent/post office, bakery, fish and chip shop, Chinese take-away, pharmacy and general grocery store. Also to be found in the area the ruins of the 13th century Halesowen Abbey, located in a field off the Manor Way by-pass. The area has local bus connections with Halesowen town centre, Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Cradley Heath, Merry Hill, Birmingham and Oldbury. It is situated near to Junction 3 of the M5 motorway. The disused Lapal Canal Tunnel is nearby.

Halesowen railway station was a railway station in Halesowen, England, on the Great Western Railway & Midland Railway's Joint Halesowen Railway line from Old Hill to Longbridge.

Hill was a township in what is now the metropolitan county of West Midlands in England. The township was situated between Halesowen and Blackheath, and covered an area including Coombeswood, Mucklow Hill and the Halesowen Golf Club. It was originally associated with the Halesowen parish, a detached part of Shropshire, which was transferred to the jurisdiction of Worcestershire in 1844 by the Counties (Detached Parts) Act 1844. It became considered a separate civil parish in its own right in 1866. It became part of Stourbridge poor law union, and Stourbridge rural sanitary district (RSD). It 1894 it became part of the Halesowen Rural District formed from the Worcestershire parts of the Stourbridge RSD. In 1919 the parish was abolished to merge with Cakemore to form the parish of Hill and Cakemore. In 1925 the Halesowen rural district became the Halesowen urban district.

Bromsgrove Road Cutting is a 0.2 hectare (0.5 acre) geological site of Special Scientific Interest in the West Midlands. The site was notified in 1990 under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is located on the eastern edge of Halesowen.

Hurst Green is a suburb of Halesowen in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, located on its north-eastern side. Its principal thoroughfares are Narrow Lane/Fairfield Road, Summerfield Avenue and Hurst Green Road and Woodbury Road with a small shopping centre at the eastern end of the latter bordering the M5 motorway. It is a mixture of owner-occupied and municipal housing, the latter concentrated around Brandon Road/Westfield Road. There is an industrial area to its north along Fairfield Road and Cakemore Road. It is served by buses X8, X10, 13A, 14, 19, 202, 231 Although it is administratively part of Halesowen, it is geographically closer to Blackheath, where its residents have traditionally shopped and to where most of its public transport links operate.

Seth Somers Park is a cricket ground in Halesowen, West Midlands. It is home to Halesowen Cricket Club, whose 1st XI play in the Birmingham and District Premier League. The park was used for first-class cricket by Worcestershire on two occasions in the 1960s, at which time Halesowen lay in Worcestershire. In 1964 they beat Cambridge University by ten wickets, and five years later they beat the same opposition by an identical margin. Two games in the 1986 ICC Trophy were played at Seth Somers Park: Canada beat Hong Kong by four wickets, while Denmark beat Bermuda by six wickets.

Coombes Holloway Halt railway station was a railway station in Halesowen, England, on the Great Western Railway & Midland Railway's Joint Halesowen Railway line from Old Hill to Longbridge. The station was intermediate stopping point between Halesowen and Old Hill, and was only ¾ of a mile from Old Hill station. It had a short lived life as a station of only 22 years. The station site is now covered by a small industrial unit, alongside which the disused embankment can be seen.

Halesowen (originally called Hale Manor) was a medieval parish in the West Midlands of England. The townships of Halesowen, Cakemore, Hasbury, Hawne, Hill, Hunnington, Illey, Lapal, Oldbury, Ridgacre, Romsley and Warley Salop formed a detached part of Shropshire; the rest of the parish, consisting of the chapelries of Cradley and Frankley, and the hamlets of Lutley and Warley Wigorn, was part of Worcestershire.The Counties (Detached Parts) Act 1844 made the entire area part of Worcestershire. Each of these townships, chapelries and hamlets became a civil parish in 1866. Subsequently Ridgacre, under the name of Quinton was added to Birmingham in Warwickshire in 1909, and has formed part of the Birmingham metropolitan district in West Midlands since 1974 Halesowen (with Cakemore, Cradley, Hasbury, Hawne, Hill, Illey, Lapal and Lutley) has formed part of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in West Midlands since 1974 Oldbury, Warley Salop and Warley Wigorn became part of the County Borough of Warley (Worcestershire) in 1966 and since 1974 the Sandwell metropolitan borough in West Midlands Frankley and Romsley do not form part of any metropolitan district; and are part of the Bromsgrove district of Worcestershire; part of Frankley was added to Birmingham and is now known as New Frankley in Birmingham

Halesowen and Rowley Regis is a constituency in the West Midlands represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2010 by James Morris, a Conservative.

The Earls High School is a secondary school with academy status on Furnace Lane near the A458 in Halesowen, West Midlands. Established in 1652 and formerly Halesowen Grammar School, it also incorporates the former Halesowen Technical School.
