The Diocese of Tainan (Latin: Dioecesis Tainanensis) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in Taiwan. Erected in March 1961 from territories belonging to the former Apostolic Prefecture of Kiayi, the diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Taipei.

It was established in 1917 and is considered one of the most prestigious high schools in Taiwan, usually only accepting students who rank in the top 3 percentile of the Taiwan Basic Scholastic Test.

The National University of Tainan (NUTN; Chinese: 國立臺南大學; pinyin: Guólì Táinán Dàxué) is a university in West Central District, Tainan, Taiwan. NUTN offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across six colleges: the College of Education, the College of Humanities, the College of Management, the College of Science and Engineering, the College of Arts, and the College of Environmental Sciences and Ecology. The university has several research institutes and centers, including the Center for Teacher Education and Professional Development, the Center for International Studies, and the Center for Sustainable Development.

The Tainan Confucian Temple (traditional Chinese: 臺南孔子廟; simplified Chinese: 台南孔子庙; pinyin: Táinán Kǒngzǐ Miào) or Quan Tai Shou Xue (Chinese: 全臺首學, lit. "First Academy of Taiwan"), is a Confucian temple on Nanmen Road (南門路) in West Central District, Tainan, Taiwan.

The Temple of the Five Concubines (Chinese: 五妃廟; pinyin: Wǔ Fēi Miào), known also by alternative names including the Temple of the Five Noble Ladies, is a temple in West Central District, Tainan, Taiwan. It was built in front of the tomb of the five concubines of Zhu Shugui, the Ming Prince of Ningjing, who killed themselves in 1683 to accompany him in death. It is registered as a first-class historic site by the Republic of China government.In 1683, the Qing Dynasty forces invaded Taiwan and defeated the Kingdom of Tungning, prompting Zhu Shugui to commit suicide. Rather than be left to an uncertain and inglorious fate in the hands of the Qing, the concubines elected to end their own lives as well. The names of the five concubines were Lady Yuan, Lady Wang, Xiugu, Sister Mei and Sister He; their full names are unknown.

The National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL; Chinese: 國立臺灣文學館; pinyin: Guólì Táiwān Wénxuéguǎn) is a museum under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of China (Taiwan), located in Tainan, Republic of China (Taiwan). The museum researches, catalogs, preserves, and exhibits literary artifacts, and is also the first national literature museum in Taiwan. As part of its multilingual, multi-ethnic focus, it holds a large collection of local works in Taiwanese, Japanese, Mandarin and Classical Chinese. It was planned as a national-level organization to fill in a long-perceived gap in how the Republic of China's institutions had handled Taiwanese literature as a field of academic inquiry and popular discourse. Tainan was chosen for its historical significance as a cultural center. As of May 2023, it houses a collection of approximately 130,000 items. Formerly the Tainan Prefectural Hall, the museum was repurposed as the venue for the National Museum of Taiwan Literature in Jan. 2003, marking an important case of "historical building reuse" in official architecture in Taiwan. On November 10 of the same year, it was officially designated as a national historic site.
