Hope Mill

The Hope Mill Theatre is an independent theatre that performs original and revival plays, musicals and other events. The theater is located at 113 Pollard St in Manchester, UK in the Hope Mill building, a Grade II* listed converted textile mill building. It won Fringe Venue of The Year at The Stage awards in 2018. Hope Mill Theatre is the main work of the registered charity A Factory of Creativity.

The Church of All Souls is located on Every Street in Ancoats, Manchester, England. It was designed by William Hayley, and was constructed 1839–1840; in a Romanesque style, from brown brick with stone dressing. It was built for Samuel Warren. It has been a Grade II listed building since 15 October 1984. The church closed in 1984, and the building was subsequently used as a joinery workshop. It is now used by the Manchester Miracle Centre.

Brunswick Mill, Ancoats is a former cotton spinning mill on Bradford Road in Ancoats, Manchester, England. The mill was built around 1840, part of a group of mills built along the Ashton Canal, and at that time it was one of the country's largest mills. It was built round a quadrangle, a seven-storey block facing the canal. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964. Production finished in 1967. It was a seven-storey mill with 35 loading bays facing directly onto the canal, with a smaller three 3⁄4 story block of warehouses and offices backing onto Bradford Road. The Brunswick Mill was one of the largest in Britain at that time and by the 1850s held some 276 carding machines, and 77,000 mule spindles. 20 drawing frames, fifty slubbing frames and eighty one roving frames.

Holt Town is an inner-city area of east Manchester, England, in a loop of the River Medlock between Miles Platting to the north and west, Bradford to the east, and Ancoats to the south.Holt Town was established in 1785 by David Holt, and is the only known example of a factory colony in Manchester, that is an isolated mill complex with housing for the workers.Holt Town tram stop is on the East Manchester Line of the Manchester Metrolink light-rail system.

New Islington is a tram stop on the East Manchester Line (EML) and Zone 1 of Greater Manchester's light-rail Metrolink system. The station opened on 11 February 2013, after a three-day free trial for local residents. The station was constructed as part of Phase 3a of the Metrolink's expansion, and is located in the New Islington area of Manchester, England. It was originally proposed to open with the name Pollard Street, being located at the junction Munday Street and Pollard Street.

The station opened on 11 February 2013, after a three-day free trial for local residents, as part of Phase 3a of the Metrolink's expansion. It is beside the River Medlock in Holt Town, between Ancoats and Bradford.

Chips is a residential apartment building, alongside the Ashton Canal, in New Islington, Manchester, England. Historically part of Ancoats, the building is part of an urban renewal project, New Islington Millennium Village in east Manchester which has been led by Urban Splash. Chips is a nine-storey building and was designed by the architect Will Alsop, founder of Alsop Architects. The structural engineers where Civic Engineers. Tom Bloxham of Urban Splash requested that the building be away from "mundanity", and came up with Chips with Alsop.In January 2018, Chips failed a Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service risk assessment and the cladding on the building was found to have "non fire retardant" written on it.

The Ancoats Hospital and Ardwick and Ancoats Dispensary (commonly known as Ancoats Hospital) was a large inner-city hospital located in Ancoats, to the north of the city centre of Manchester, England. It was built in 1875, replacing the Ardwick and Ancoats Dispensary that had existed since 1828. The building is now Grade II listed.

Albion Mill is a former industrial building in Manchester, United Kingdom. It occupies the site of a former cotton mill and ironworks. John Hetherington & Sons made textile machinery in Ancoats. The company was founded in 1830 and as it expanded acquired the site of J. and J. L. Gray's Ancoats Mill, and other works on Pollard Street where around 1856 it established the Vulcan Works. The company moved to the Union Iron Works at West Gorton in 1939 as demand for its products declined. The Vulcan Works were used as business premises until 2004, when it was converted into flats as Albion Mill and Vulcan Mill. Today the mills have been converted into flats and offices.

The Manchester Art Museum, also known as the Horsfall Museum or Ancoats Museum, was an art museum in Manchester, England, from 1877 until 1953. It was begun as an educational venture in 1877 by Thomas Coglan Horsfall, who had been inspired by John Ruskin to provide education and inspiration to the working classes. In 1886 the museum was moved to Ancoats Hall. The collection included a wide range of items including paintings, engravings, photographs, reproductions, antiquities, ceramics, glass, metalwork, natural history specimens, and images of Manchester. In keeping with Horsfall's moral views, no nudes were displayed at the gallery. A room in the gallery was furnished by William Morris as an example of aesthetic design. According to the historian Shelagh Wilson, the gallery was popular as a respectable alternative attraction to pubs and music halls, but by the early 20th century it was unable to compete with new forms of popular entertainment. When a cinema opened nearby, attendance dropped dramatically. In 1918 the museum was taken over by Manchester City Council. It closed in 1953 and its contents were absorbed into the collection of Manchester City Art Gallery.

Ancoats Hall in Ancoats, Manchester, England, was a post-medieval country house built in 1609 by Oswald Mosley, a member of the family who were Lords of the Manor of Manchester. The old timber-framed hall, built in the early 17th century, was described by John Aiken in his 1795 book Description of the country from 30 to 40 miles around Manchester. The old hall was demolished in the 1820s and replaced by a brick building in the early neo-Gothic style. The new hall, at the eastern end of Great Ancoats Street between Every Street and Palmerston Street, was demolished in the 1960s.
