Barnes rail crash

Marc Bolan's Rock Shrine is a memorial to Marc Bolan, of glam-rock band T. Rex, on the site where he died in a car crash in Barnes, London, on 16 September 1977. Bolan was a passenger in a car which hit a part-metal and wood fence and then a sycamore tree on Queen's Ride (part of the B306, close to Gipsy Lane). A memorial stone was unveiled at the site in 1997, and a bust of Bolan added in 2002.

Mill Hill is a street in Barnes, London, England. Mill Hill is effectively an enclave of eleven large houses on the site of a former windmill, surrounded by Barnes Common. Mill Hill is the most elevated location in Barnes, and a windmill stood on the site from at least 1443 until the 19th century. In 1780, a hurricane destroyed the Post Mill, and in 1783 the new Smock Mill replaced it. In 1812, the Italian servant who assassinated Louis-Alexandre de Launay, comte d'Antraigues, and his wife at their nearby home in Barnes Terrace was buried nearby.In 1836, the mill was demolished by the Yewd family to allow for housing development. The houses date from the 19th century, apart from Mill Hill Lodge, part of which is the miller's 18th-century cottage.Mill Hill is effectively an enclave of eleven large houses surrounded by Barnes Common, and three of the houses are grade II listed: The Mill Hill, Mill Hill Lodge and Mulberry Lodge.In 1902, Frederick Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts's sister was living at Mill Hill. In 1912, The Mill Hill was home to a Mrs Eykyn.

Barnes Common is common land in the south east of Barnes, London, England, adjoining Putney Lower Common to the east and bounded to the south by the Upper Richmond Road. Along with Barnes Green, it is one of the largest zones of common land in London with 49.55 hectares (122.4 acres) of protected commons. It is also a Local Nature Reserve. Facilities include a full-size football pitch and a nature trail.The common is made up of mixed broadleaf woodland, scrubland and acid grassland and is generally flat. Dover House Estate is one of a number of important London County Council cottage estates inspired by the Garden city movement. The land was previously the estates of two large houses, Dover House and Putney Park House, which were purchased by the London County Council soon after World War I. Dover House was demolished for the new estate, but Putney Park House remains.

Fairacres is a Grade II listed four-storey apartment block at Roehampton Lane, Roehampton, London.It was built in 1936 by the architects Anthony Minoprio (1900–1988) and Hugh Spencely (1900–1983), for the property developer Charles Kearley. The block of 64 flats in a semi-elliptical arc is modern in style with 1930s curved walls, but traditional in construction. It is very little altered since being built.There are six acres of private gardens, overlooking the Roehampton Club grounds (and with a secure private entrance) and Richmond Park beyond. Each flat was built with 3–5 bedrooms, 2–3 bathrooms, drawing room, dining room and servant's quarters.
