Saitama University (埼玉大学, Saitama Daigaku) is a Japanese national university located in a suburban area of Sakura-ku, Saitama City, capital of Saitama Prefecture in Tokyo Metropolitan Area. Founded in 1873, it became a national university is 1949, and currently has five faculties (schools) for undergraduate education: Liberal Arts, Education, Economics, Science, and Engineering; and four graduate schools: Cultural Science, Education, Economic Science, and Science and Engineering. All of these schools offer programs leading to doctorates as well as master's degrees. The total enrollment in the university is more than 8,500 with more than 500 overseas students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Its abbreviated form is Saidai (埼大).

Ikazuchi stable (雷部屋, Ikazuchi-beya), formerly known as Irumagawa stable from 1993 to 2023, is a stable of sumo wrestlers, part of the Dewanoumi ichimon or group of stables. It was set up in January 1993 by former sekiwake Tochitsukasa, who branched off from Kasugano stable. The first sekitori produced by the stable was Oyamato (also known as Shirasaki) in January 1994. As of February 2023 it had seven wrestlers.

Sakura-ku (桜区, Sakura-ku) is one of ten wards of the city of Saitama, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and is located in the southwestern part of the city. Akigase Park (秋ヶ瀬公園, Akigase kōen) is a park in Japan that occupies a section of flood plain of the Arakawa River, which is located at the western edge of Saitama City. The park covers an area of 100.1ha on the eastern side of the river between its northern boundary, 3 km north of the Akigase Bridge, and the southern boundary, the Hanekura Bridge. In 1971, former Urawa City established the park as a measure to manage the rising issue of insufficient park availability stemmed from rapid urban expansion. Baseball fields, soccer fields, and tennis courts, along with patches of pristine forest make up its grounds.

Chūō-ku (中央区, lit. "Central ward") is one of ten wards of the city of Saitama, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and is located in the northern part of the city. As of 1 March 2021, the ward had an estimated population of 102,364 and a population density of 12,000 persons per km2. Its total area is 8.39 square kilometres (3.24 sq mi). Despite its name, it is not the administrative or the commercial centre of the city, roles which are designated to Urawa-ku and Ōmiya-ku respectively.

Shiki (志木市, Shiki-shi) is a city located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 January 2021, the city had an estimated population of 76,445 in 35,407 households and a population density of 8400 persons per km². The total area of the city is 9.05 square kilometres (3.49 sq mi).

Omiya Law School (大宮法科大学院大学, Ōmiya Hōkadaigakuin Daigaku) is a graduate level law school in Saitama, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The school closed in 2015.

Though the institution is coeducational, female students greatly outnumbers male students. In July 2004 it was selected for Good Practice, a grant program by the Ministry of Education.
