Aria di Festa is a sagra—a festival based around a local culinary item—that takes place in San Daniele del Friuli over a period of three days at the end of June each year. The speciality here is a dry-cured raw ham known as prosciutto di San Daniele. The event draws thousands of tourists every year from across the world, especially from nearby Austria and Slovenia. Aria di Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the Prosciutto Festival, takes place from June 24 to 27, 2016. As an addition to the Festival, musician Bob Dylan will kick off his Italian Tour on June 27, in San Daniele del Friuli at Zanussi Stadium.

San Daniele del Friuli (Friulian: Sant Denêl) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Udine, in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northwest of Udine. Ragogna (Friulian: Ruvigne) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine, in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Udine. Ragogna borders the following municipalities: Forgaria nel Friuli, Pinzano al Tagliamento, San Daniele del Friuli.

The March of Friuli was a Carolingian frontier march, centered in the historical region of Friuli (corresponding mainly to the modern province of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in north-eastern Italy). Since the Frankish conquest and pacification of the Lombard Kingdom in 774-776, the Duchy of Friuli was placed under the administration of Frankish dukes and gradually expanded towards eastern territories, serving as the main frontier march against the Slavs and Avars. It was reorganized in 828, and its central region (Friuli) was placed under administration of local counts, later margraves. In 843, the region was attached to the Middle Francia, and governed by margraves (sometimes also referred as dukes) from the house of Unruochings. The region remained linked to the Carolingian and post-Carolingian Italy until 952, when it was ceded to the Duchy of Bavaria as the March of Verona. Its core territory comprised parts of modern-day Italy and Slovenia.

Fagagna (Friulian: Feagne) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 13 kilometres (8 mi) northwest of Udine. As of 2011, it had a population of 6,279 and an area of 37.0 square kilometres (14.3 sq mi). It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").The municipality of Fagagna contains the frazioni (boroughs) Ciconicco, Villalta, San Giovanni in Colle, Battaglia, and Madrisio. Fagagna borders the following municipalities: Basiliano, Colloredo di Monte Albano, Martignacco, Mereto di Tomba, Moruzzo, Rive d'Arcano, San Vito di Fagagna. It is well known among nature-lovers for being the municipality which holds the nature reserve which bred the critically endangered Northern Bald Ibis or Waldrapp, from which 37 of the many individuals present were released in 2014 (under somewhat mysterious circumstances).The local festival held every September includes two traditional events which attract tourists: the donkey race (since 1891), and the Palio dei Borghi, theatre performances given by the inhabitants of the four borghi, the districts of the town, on the main square.

San Vito di Fagagna borders the following municipalities: Coseano, Fagagna, Mereto di Tomba, Rive d'Arcano.

Mereto di Tomba borders the following municipalities: Basiliano, Codroipo, Coseano, Fagagna, San Vito di Fagagna, Sedegliano and Pasian di Prato.

Moruzzo (Friulian: Murus) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 11 kilometres (7 mi) northwest of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,240 and an area of 17.9 square kilometres (6.9 sq mi).The municipality of Moruzzo contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Alnicco, Brazzacco, Telezae, Modotto, and Santa Margherita del Gruagno. Moruzzo borders the following municipalities: Colloredo di Monte Albano, Fagagna, Martignacco, Pagnacco. It is also known as the "Beverly Hills" of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
