The Mirfield Free Grammar (also known as the MFG) and sixth form is a secondary school in the town of Mirfield, West Yorkshire, England. Patrick Stewart was a student at the MFG and, in September 2011, he opened the school as an academy. The school was rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in both 2008 and 2012.In 2013 a new extension was added to the sports centre which included a state-of-the-art Dance Studio and Gym.The school underwent major renovations that were completed by September 2014, they included a brand new Music, Drama and DT classrooms, as well as a redeveloped quad area with ramp access for students that required the permanent demolition of existing buildings.

Hollybank was one of the first registered schools for disabled children to be built in the North of England. It is a registered charity and care home, specialising in caring for children with multiple and profound disabilities. Hollybank Trust was established in 1954 in Lindley, a suburb of Huddersfield in Yorkshire. Huddersfield is known for its central role at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, for being the birthplace of rugby league and birthplace of the former British Prime Minister, Harold Wilson. According to its website it employs over 500 full and part-time staff at locations across Yorkshire, in Mirfield, Halifax, Holmfirth, Barnsley and South Kirkby. Local Paralympian athlete Paul Cartwright, is ambassador for the Hollybank School, which he attended as a boy. Paul represented Great Britain at the 1984 Stoke Mandeville Paralympic Games in 100m, 200m, 400m sprint, and the marathon.

Hartshead is a village in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England, 3.7 miles (6 km) west of Dewsbury and near to Hartshead Moor.The village has pre-Norman Conquest origins; the Walton Cross is believed to be dated from the 11th century.The name Hartshead is derived from Herteshevet or Herteshede which is Scandinavian in origin and means Hill of Heort, Heort meaning Hart in modern English.Patrick Brontë met his wife, Maria Branwell (they met in Rawdon, some dozen or so miles away from Hartshead) in 1811, when he was parson of Church of St Peter in Hartshead. They were married in Guiseley and became the parents of Anne, Branwell, Charlotte and Emily Brontë.Kirklees Hall is between Hartshead and the nearby village of Clifton. Robin Hood is reputed to have been buried near Hartshead or in the grounds of the nearby Kirklees Hall. The exact place is not known, as the gravestone has been moved at least 3 times.

Colne Bridge Mill (English: ) was a factory, built in 1775, in the village of Colne Bridge near Bradley and Kirkheaton, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England, which was destroyed by fire on 14 February 1818. It was owned by the wealthy manufacturer Thomas Atkinson (1779–1838), who was also proprietor of another business at Bradley Mills, Huddersfield.

Colne Bridge (English: ) is an historic 18th-century bridge near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. A Grade II listed stone-built arch bridge, it spans the River Colne between Bradley and Kirkheaton. A Colne Bridge was mentioned in the Fountains Abbey records of the 12th century. It gave its name to a village, and also to Colne Bridge Mill which was destroyed by fire in 1818. According to Ted Ruddock, Colne Bridge may have been the design inspiration for John Smeaton's work on the Blackfriars Bridge.
