Ranby is a small village in the north of Nottinghamshire, next to the Chesterfield Canal and adjacent to the A1. It is in the civil parish of Babworth. It is known for its two schools, the prep school Worksop College Preparatory School (formerly Ranby House) and the primary school Ranby Primary School, and the nearby church All Saints Babworth.Ranby Prison is located on the A620 to Retford. The Prison has been updated over the last 5 years and houses an increasing number of inmates. Nearby stood Morton Hall that was built for William Mason J.P. in the 1860s. His children included Agnes Mason, Harriet Mason and Arthur James Mason. The hall was demolished in 1946. The grounds of the hall contained a "Money Stone". The one metre high stone commemorates a hoard found in 1802 containing 621 Roman copper and silver coins. The 1802 stone is now listed.

Scofton is a hamlet in the Bassetlaw district of northern Nottinghamshire, England. It is 130 miles (210 km) north west of London, 25 miles (40 km) north of the county town and city of Nottingham, and 3 miles (4.8 km) east of the nearest town Worksop. Having a shared modern history with nearby Osberton Hall, it is sometimes referred to as Scofton-with-Osberton. Other close neighbours are Bilby and Rayton which also have historical associations.

It is 125 miles north west of London, 22 miles north of the city of Nottingham, and 3½ miles south east of the market town of Worksop.The parish touches Babworth, Carburton, Elkesley, Perlethorpe cum Budby and Welbeck. The parish was formed on 1 April 1994. The area is within Sherwood Forest and has close historical associations with the Dukes of Newcastle, being part of a wider region known as The Dukeries. There are 26 listed buildings in Clumber and Hardwick.

Clumber Park is a country park in The Dukeries near Worksop in the civil parish of Clumber and Hardwick, Nottinghamshire, England. The estate, which was the seat of the Pelham-Clintons, Dukes of Newcastle, was purchased by the National Trust in 1946. It is listed Grade I on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.The main house was demolished in 1938 after damage by several fires. The nearby Grade I listed chapel in Gothic Revival style and a four-acre walled kitchen garden still survive. The gardens and the estate are managed by the National Trust and are open to the public all year round. In 2020/21 over 350,000 people visited Clumber Park, making it one of the National Trust's top ten most visited properties.
