Footballer Chris Judd lived in Joondanna when he played for the West Coast Eagles, and Paralympian Louise Sauvage grew up in the suburb.

St Denis Church is a Roman Catholic church in the Perth suburb of Joondanna, Western Australia. The building was designed by Ernest Rossen and Iris Rossen, and is inspired by the Chapel du Ronchamp. It was built in 1967 and consecrated in 1968.The church has a pipe organ. The instrument was originally built in 1957 for the chapel at St John of God Subiaco Hospital. That chapel was demolished in 1994 and the organ was removed and rebuilt at St Denis. It was damaged during a severe storm in 2010, but subsequently repaired.In 2010/11 a five-year plan to renovate the church building commenced: The crying room was converted to a gathering space. A new sound system was installed, including hearing units for those hard-of-hearing. Indoor toilets were installed. Reverse-cycle air-conditioning was installed. Solar panels were installed on the roof of the church and presbytery.In 2014 the tabernacle was moved from its original location on the side of the sanctuary to directly behind the altar.In 2017 a memorial garden was built on the west side, between the church and the presbytery.

The name "Nollamara" is a Noongar word for the flowering plant Macropidia, commonly known as the black kangaroo paw.The suburb is less than 10 km (6.2 mi) away from the Perth central business district and is approximately 11 km (6.8 mi) from Trigg beach. Previously known as a lower income area, Nollamara has gone through a period of gentrification over the past decade that continues on to this day. Older homes are being replaced with new townhomes and there has been a surge in young families and professionals populating the suburb. The area is characterized by extensive trees, parks and recreational facilities. The newly renovated Des Penman Reserve is a good example of this as it includes tennis, soccer, lawn-bowls, playground, shaded lunch areas and BBQ facilities. Parts of Nollamara are elevated, providing views of surrounding neighborhoods. Nollamara borders prominent areas such as Yokine and Dianella that are host to multimillion-dollar homes. A newly developed Flinders Street and Wanneroo Road provide easy access to Leederville, Subiaco, Northbridge and the Perth CBD.

Mount Hawthorn is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Vincent. The Mount Hawthorn area was first selected for urban development in 1887. In the late 1890s part of it was purchased by a syndicate of Edward Wittenoom, a politician and pastoralist; James Hicks and C. L. W. Clifton. When this group subdivided their land in 1903, Hicks called his portion of the subdivision Hawthorn Estate, as he had recently been in Melbourne and stayed at Hawthorn.
