San Giovanni al Natisone (Friulian: San Zuan dal Nadison) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southeast of Udine. San Giovanni al Natisone borders the following municipalities: Chiopris-Viscone, Cormons, Corno di Rosazzo, Manzano, Trivignano Udinese.

The Natisone (Friulian: Nadison; Slovene: Nadiža; Latin: Natiso) is a 60-kilometre (37 mi) river in Slovenia and Italy. It flows for some time as a border river between Slovenia and Italy, continues in Slovenia and then crosses the border and continues in Eastern Friuli, in northeastern Italy. It is the main tributary of the Torre and a sub-affluent of the Isonzo. It has a pluvio-nival regime and belongs to the Adriatic Sea Basin.The Natisone is formed at 415 metres (1,362 ft) above sea level on the border between Friuli and Slovenia by the confluence of two streams: the Rio Bianco (Slovene: Beli potok) and the Rio Nero (Slovene: Črni potok) which spring from the Punta di Montemaggiore and Gabrovec mountains. Before the confluence with the Torre, it passes through the communes of Pulfero and Cividale del Friuli.

Chiopris-Viscone (Friulian: Cjopris e Viscon) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southeast of Udine. It is formed by the two frazioni (boroughs) of Chiopris, which is the municipal seat, and Viscone. Chiopris-Viscone borders the following municipalities: Cormons, Medea, San Giovanni al Natisone, San Vito al Torre, Trivignano Udinese.

Buttrio (Friulian: Buri) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, with a population of 4,050 people, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 10 kilometres (6 mi) southeast of Udine. Buttrio borders the following municipalities: Manzano, Pavia di Udine, Pradamano, Premariacco. Buttrio is renowned for its wines, as well as for being the place for the headquarters of the multinational company Danieli SpA, the largest supplier of equipment and plants to the metal industry in the world, are located in Buttrio.

Corno di Rosazzo (Friulian: Cuar di Rosacis) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southeast of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,313 and an area of 12.5 square kilometres (4.8 sq mi).Corno di Rosazzo borders the following municipalities: Cividale del Friuli, Cormons, Dolegna del Collio, Manzano, Premariacco, Prepotto, San Giovanni al Natisone.

Medea (Slovene: Medeja; Friulian: Migjea or Migjee; German: Mödan) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Gorizia in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) west of Gorizia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 918 and an area of 7.3 square kilometres (2.8 sq mi).The municipality of Medea contains the frazioni (boroughs) Ara Pacis, Monte di Medea, and Sant’Antonio. Medea borders the following municipalities: Chiopris-Viscone, Cormons, Mariano del Friuli, Romans d'Isonzo, San Vito al Torre.

Cormons (Italian: Stazione di Cormons) is a railway station serving the town of Cormons, in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northern Italy. The station is located on the Udine–Trieste railway. The train services are operated by Trenitalia.

San Vito al Torre (Slovene: Šentvid na Teru; Friulian: San Vît de Tor) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southeast of Udine. San Vito al Torre borders the following municipalities: Aiello del Friuli, Campolongo Tapogliano, Chiopris-Viscone, Medea, Palmanova, Romans d'Isonzo, Trivignano Udinese, Visco.

Visco (Friulian: Visc) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southeast of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 723 and an area of 3.5 square kilometres (1.4 sq mi).Visco borders the following municipalities: Aiello del Friuli, Bagnaria Arsa, Palmanova, San Vito al Torre.

Cormons or Cormòns (Slovene: Krmin; German: Kremaun) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Gorizia in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 12 kilometres (7 mi) west of Gorizia, on the border with Slovenia. Cormons borders the following municipalities: Brda (Slovenia), Capriva del Friuli, Chiopris-Viscone, Corno di Rosazzo, Dolegna del Collio, Mariano del Friuli, Medea, Moraro, San Floriano del Collio, San Giovanni al Natisone.

Pradamano (Friulian: Pradaman) is a town and comune in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, north-eastern Italy.

Tapogliano (Slovene: Tapoljan), is a locality and former comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 40 km northwest of Trieste and about 25 km southeast of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 452 and an area of 5.0 km².Tapogliano bordered the following municipalities: Campolongo al Torre, Romans d'Isonzo, San Vito al Torre, Villesse. In 2009 it became part of the newly created comune of Campolongo Tapogliano.
