Ponte San Nicolò

AURIGA (Antenna Ultracriogenica Risonante per l'Indagine Gravitazionale Astronomica) is an ultracryogenic resonant bar gravitational wave detector in Italy. It is at the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, near Padova. It is being used for research into gravitational waves and quantum gravity. When the oscillator gets hit with a burst of gravitational waves, it will excite the oscillator and it will vibrate for a time span longer than the duration of the gravitational wave burst. This allows for the extraction of the signal from the detector.

The ITER Neutral Beam Test Facility is a part of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) in Padova, Veneto, Italy. The facility will host the full-scale prototype of the reactor's neutral beam injector, MITICA (Megavolt ITer Injector & Concept Advancement), and a smaller prototype of its ion source, SPIDER (Source for the Production of Ions of Deuterium Extracted from a Radio frequency plasma). SPIDER started its operation in June 2018. SPIDER will be used to optimize the ion beam source, to optimize the use of cesium vapor, and to verify the uniformity of the extracted ion beam also during long pulses.

The Reversed-Field eXperiment (RFX) is the largest reversed field pinch device presently in operation, situated in Padua, Italy. It was constructed from 1985 to 1991, and has been in operation since 1992.The experiments carried out in the last two decades with two large RFP machines (MST in Madison, Wisconsin and RFX in Padova) provided new insight on the physical phenomena taking place in magnetically confined plasma dynamics.

Legnaro is a comune in the Province of Padua in the Italian region Veneto, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of Venice and about 11 kilometres (7 mi) southeast of Padua. As of 31 December, 2010, it had a population of 8,594 and an area of 14.89 square kilometres (5.75 sq mi).

The Villa Giovannelli Colonna is a rural palace located in Noventa Padovana, in the region of the Veneto near Padua, northern Italy, which once was famous for its splendid decorations. The villa was commissioned in the late 17th century by the Giovanelli family to the architect Antonio Gaspari. In 1738, on the occasion of Maria Amalia of Saxony, the daughter of the Polish king Augustus II the Strong visiting the villa, who had been married to King Charles of Naples and Sicily, the future Charles III of Spain, Andrea Giovanelli and his brother Benedetto decorated the facade of the Villa with the festive portico and a precious entrance stairway by Giorgio Massari. On the balustrades are six allegorical statues representing the five senses: the Belvedere (sight/male), Il Odorato (smell/male), Il Tatto (touch/female), L'Udire (hearing/female), Il Gusto (taste/female) which are observed by La Ragione (top right). They were executed by Antonio Tarsia, Antonio Gai and by the brothers Paolo and Giuseppe Groppelli. The interior is frescoed by Sebastiano Ricci and Giuseppe Angeli, who also did the frescos in Villa Widmann-Foscari. The frescos were changed when Federico Giovanelli, Patriarch of Venice, took over the villa. His brothers Giovanni Benedetto and Giovanni Paolo Giovannelli commissioned two large canvases by Luca Carlevarijs. The gardens consist of labyrinths and designs.

Saonara is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Padua in the Italian region Veneto, located about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of Venice and about 11 kilometres (7 mi) southeast of Padua. As of 31 August 2021, it had a population of 10,531 and an area of 13.5 square kilometres (5.2 sq mi).Saonara borders the following municipalities: Legnaro, Padua, Sant'Angelo di Piove di Sacco, Vigonovo.

Casalserugo is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Padua in the Italian region Veneto, located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southwest of Venice and about 12 kilometres (7 mi) southeast of Padua. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 5,525 and an area of 15.5 square kilometres (6.0 sq mi).Casalserugo borders the following municipalities: Albignasego, Bovolenta, Cartura, Maserà di Padova, Polverara, Ponte San Nicolò.

Noventa Padovana is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Padua in the Italian region Veneto, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) west of Venice and about 7 kilometres (4 mi) east of Padua. In the 13th century, the castle of Noventa Padovana was the residence of Isabella of England, the wife of emperor Frederick II. Noventa's territory is characterized by numerous patrician villas from the 16th to 18th centuries, such as Villa Valmarana Villa Giustiniani Villa Saccomani Villa Todeschini Villa Manzoni Villa Giovannelli Colonna

The Via Anelli Wall was a three-metre-high wall built of steel, with a length of eighty four metres, which encircled the Via Anelli quarter of Padua, northern Italy. It was built in 2006 and torn down in 2007. The area contains six apartment blocks that house roughly 1500 people. The area used to be popular with students, but is now mainly populated by people from Africa seeking asylum in Italy.The building of the wall was motivated by the extremely high crime rate in this quarter. In particular the estate was the scene of mass rioting between gangs made up of immigrants from Nigeria and Morocco, and was well known for drug dealing. The construction of the wall, which was equipped with a checkpoint, was completed in two days; some opponents dubbed it Padua's Berlin Wall. The wall was demolished between September and October 2007 after all the buildings inside it had been evacuated and all the people living there had been guaranteed fair resettlement.

Polverara is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Padua in the Italian region Veneto, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of Venice and about 14 kilometres (9 mi) southeast of Padua. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,555 and an area of 9.8 square kilometres (3.8 sq mi).The municipality of Polverara contains the frazione (subdivision) Isola dell'Abbà. Polverara borders the following municipalities: Bovolenta, Brugine, Casalserugo, Legnaro, Ponte San Nicolò.

The Ponte Corvo, rarely Ponte Corbo, is a Roman segmental arch bridge across the Bacchiglione in Padua, Italy (Roman Patavium). Dating to the 1st or 2nd century AD, its three remaining arches cross a branch of the river and are today partly buried respectively walled up. The span-to-rise ratio of the bridge varies between 2.8 and 3.4 to 1, the ratio of clear span to pier thickness from 4.9 to 6.9 to 1.Besides the Ponte Corvo, there are three more ancient segmented arch bridges in Padua: Ponte San Lorenzo, Ponte Altinate and Ponte Molino, as well as Ponte San Matteo.

Santa Sofia is the oldest Roman Catholic church structure in the city of Padua, region of Veneto, Italy. It was built in the 10th century on the site of a presumed Mithraeum. A grant was made to bishop Sinibaldo of this church in 1123, which had already been in construction. The Romanesque stone and brick facade was constructed from 1106 to 1127, but the semicircular apse may date from earlier. The interior is now relatively bare.
