Kirby Sigston

Kirby Sigston Manor is a manor house in the village of Kirby Sigston in North Yorkshire, England. It is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England. It is two storeys in height and constructed to a three-bay plan with a pair of four-bay wings to the rear of the house. The main door to the house has a Doric doorcase. It has extensive gardens including a lake with a boathouse and a weir. It is owned by Rishi Sunak, the former prime minister of the United Kingdom.

Ellerbeck is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. The population of the parish was estimated at 50 in 2011 and 2011. As the population taken at the 2011 Census remained less than 100, the details are maintained in the civil parish of Winton, Stank and Hallikeld. Ellerbeck lies on the A684 road between Northallerton and the A19 near Osmotherley. Ellerbeck also lies on the route of one of the variations of the Coast to coast walk. Cod Beck flows through Ellerbeck on its way down into the Vale of Mowbray from the North York Moors. The village of Elrebec is mentioned in the Domesday Book as having two ploughlands and being the property of Ligulf in 1066, but King William in 1086. The name was recorded as either Elrebec or Alrebec and means Alder Brook. There was a violent gas explosion in Ellerbeck in the late 1990s which destroyed a house in the village but did not cause any deaths.

Sowerby-under-Cotcliffe is a civil parish in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. The population at the 2011 Census was less than 100. Details are included in the civil parish of Winton, Stank and Hallikeld. It is 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Northallerton, 0.5 miles (0.8 km) south of Kirby Sigston, and 1.2 miles (2 km) west of the A19 road. The Cod Beck river flows to the east of the parish forming a border with KIrby Sigston and Landmoth-cum-Catto civil parishes. In 2011, North Yorkshire County Council estimated the population to be 40, which had dropped to 30 by a 2015 estimate. The area was recorded in the Domesday Book as belonging to King William and having 75 ploughlands with 100 acres (40 ha) of meadows. The name is a combination of the Old Norse Saurbi meaning swampy farmstead, and koteclyf, meaning Bank by the cottage. At the turn of the 19th century, a Roman Road was uncovered when building work was being undertaken to build a new road. The 72-mile (116 km) route went from Barmby to Stamford Bridge, Thirsk and then onto Durham.

East Harlsey is a village and civil parish in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. It is about 1 mile (2 km) west of Ingleby Arncliffe and the A19 and 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Northallerton. The population of the village as measured at the 2011 census was 281. Within the village there is a pub called the 'Cat and Bagpipes'. Harlsey Hall manor house is in the centre of the village: the manor was the property of the Lascelles family from the 11th century until 1654, when it passed to the Trotter Bannerman family, and from 1825, to the Maynard family. Comedian Roy 'Chubby' Brown has a home at Harlsey Manor, to the east of East Harlsey.

Cotcliffe is a hamlet and civil parish in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. The hamlet is 3.7 miles (6 km) south east of Northallerton and 0.62 miles (1 km) west of the A19 road. In 2015, North Yorkshire County Council estimated the population to be ten people.

St Oswald's Church is an Anglican church in East Harlsey, a village in North Yorkshire. A church was built on the site in the 12th century, from which period some of the walls survive, and there is a 15th-century window in the south wall of the chancel. It was altered in the 17th century, and the south porch and bellcote are of this date. The church was largely rebuilt in 1885 by Austin, Johnson and Hicks. It was grade II* listed in 1970. The church is built of stone with slate roofs, and consists of a nave, a north aisle, a south porch, and a chancel with a north aisle. At the west end is a double bellcote with rusticated stonework, four-centred arched bell openings, a moulded cornice, and a pyramidal gable surmounted and flanked by squat obelisks. The porch has a coped gable with three ball finials, and contains a four-centred arched opening with a chamfered surround. Inside, there is an effigy of a knight dating from the 1320s and an 18th-century monument of carved marble.

Thimbleby is a small village and civil parish in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England, it is in the North Yorks Moors and close to the village of Osmotherley and the Cleveland Way, 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Northallerton. The population of the civil parish as of the 2011 census was 258.

St Mary's Church is the parish church of Leake, North Yorkshire, a village in England. The church was built in the early 12th century, from which period the tower and part of the nave wall survive. The north aisle was added in the early 13th century, and the south aisle late in the century. The chancel was then rebuilt, the work being completed in 1313, and the clerestory was added in about 1370. The roofs and some of the windows were replaced in the 15th century. The church was grade I listed in 1970. The church is built of stone, and has roofs of Welsh slate and lead. It consists of a nave with a clerestory, north and south aisles, a south porch, a chancel and a west tower. The tower is embraced by the aisles, and has three stages, a three-light west window with a pointed arch and a hood mould. In the top stage is a triple arcade, the central arch with a bell opening, and the outer arches blind, and above is a corbel table and a plain chamfered parapet. Inside, there is a 13th-century piscina, and a carving on an animal reset in the south wall, which is probably late 12th century. There are Jacobean benches, three stalls in the chancel dating from 1519, a 17th-century font cover, and a brass memorial to John Watson and his wife, from about 1530.
