As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 233 and an area of 2.1 square kilometres (0.81 sq mi).Valnegra borders the following municipalities: Lenna, Moio de' Calvi, Piazza Brembana, Piazzolo.

In the cemetery is buried Guido Galli an Italian judge killed by the Red Brigades in the 1980s.

Olmo al Brembo is an ancient village built along Strada Priula. About 15 kilometres (9 mi) from there is San Marco Pass, which links Valle Brembana and Valtellina

Its frazione of Cornello dei Tasso is a member of the I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy") association.
