Fara Gera d'Adda

Cassano d'Adda (Milanese: Cassan su l'Adda; Bergamasque: Cassà) is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Milan, Lombardy, Italy, located on the right side of the Adda River. It is on the border of the Metropolitan City of Milan and the province of Bergamo. It is served by Cassano d'Adda railway station.

The Battle of Cassano took place on 16 August 1705, during the War of the Spanish Succession, near Cassano d'Adda, in Lombardy, Italy. It was fought between a French army of 22,000 commanded by the duc de Vendôme and an Imperial force of 24,000 under Prince Eugene of Savoy. In October 1703, Victor Amadeus II repudiated his treaty with France and joined the Grand Alliance. By August 1705, the French had occupied most of the Savoyard state, with the exception of its capital Turin. With Savoy on the brink of defeat, Imperial general Prince Eugene tried to relieve the pressure on Turin by crossing the River Adda at Cassano, and threatening Milan. Although taken by surprise, the French managed to hold the bridge after several hours of combat, both sides suffering heavy casualties. The battle is generally viewed as inconclusive since while Vendôme prevented him crossing the Adda, Prince Eugene achieved his primary aim of delaying their assault on Turin until 1706. Vendôme and many of his troops were recalled to France after the Battle of Ramillies in May 1706, allowing the Imperialists to break the Siege of Turin in September; fighting in Northern Italy ended with the March 1707 Convention of Milan.

The Visconti Castle or Castello Visconteo of Cassano is a castle of medieval origin in Cassano d'Adda, Lombardy, Northern Italy. It received the current form in the 14th century, when Bernabò Visconti, lord of Milan, enlarged the existing fortification as part of a defensive system of the Visconti dominions on the Adda river. At the end of the 20th century, after a period of abandonment, it was restored and transformed into a hotel.

The Battle of Cassano was fought in the Autumn of 1259 between Guelph and Ghibelline armies in Northern Italy. In 1259, Ezzelino da Romano and his Ghibelline army moved into Lombardy and besieged Orci Novi. However, the approach of the Guelph army forced Ezzelino to abandon the siege and cross the Oglio River. Joined by exiled nobles from Milan, the Ghibellines attempted to take the city of Monza by force but failed. Ezzelino and his troops, aware of their now-dangerous position, retreated to the Adda River.Here, Ezzelino and his troops were defeated by the Guelphs under Azzo VII d'Este. Ezzelino was wounded and captured, and imprisoned at Soncino, where he died of his wounds a few days later.In Soncino, a weekly bell ring recalls Ezzelino III da Romano's death. Legend has it that he was buried with his treasure.

Vaprio d'Adda (Milanese: Vaver; Bergamasque: Aer; locally Vavar) is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy, about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northeast of Milan. Vaprio d'Adda borders the following municipalities: Trezzo sull'Adda, Capriate San Gervasio, Grezzago, Canonica d'Adda, Pozzo d'Adda, Cassano d'Adda, Fara Gera d'Adda.

Canonica d'Adda (Bergamasque: Calònega; Milanese: Canòniga) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northeast of Milan and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Bergamo. It lies on the left bank of the river Adda which separates it from Vaprio d'Adda and is here the boundary between the Province of Bergamo and the Province of Milan. Canonica d'Adda also borders the municipalities of Brembate, Capriate San Gervasio, Fara Gera d'Adda and Pontirolo Nuovo.

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 4,649 and an area of 10.8 square kilometres (4.2 sq mi).The municipality of Pontirolo Nuovo contains the frazione (subdivision) Fornasotto. Cassano d'Adda is a railway station in Italy. Located on the Milan–Venice railway, it serves the town of Cassano d'Adda. It is one of the original stations of the line, built by the Austrian Empire.

Crespi d'Adda is a village in northern Italian and hamlet (frazione) of Capriate San Gervasio, a municipality in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy. It is a historic settlement and an outstanding example of the 19th and early 20th-century "company towns" built in Europe and North America by enlightened industrialists to meet the workers' needs. The site is still intact and is partly used for industrial purposes, although changing economic and social conditions now threaten its survival. Since 1995 it has been on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,903 and an area of 4.2 square kilometres (1.6 sq mi).Pozzo d'Adda borders the following municipalities: Grezzago, Trezzano Rosa, Basiano, Vaprio d'Adda, Masate, Inzago, Cassano d'Adda.
