Varese Lake (Italian: Lago di Varese) is a lake of glacial origin in Lombardy, in the north of Italy. It has an area of 14.5 km², a medium depth of 11 m, and a maximum depth of 23 m. It hosted the Canoeing European Championships in 2012, the World Rowing Master Regatta in 2013, the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in 2014, the second Canoeing World Championship in 2015 and the World Rowing Under 23 / Under 19 Championships in 2022.

Barasso has a population of 1657 people (based on December 2020 data). In the fourth century, Emperor Theodosius I commissioned S.Giulio to build a church there.

It had been a comune until 1 January 2023, when it merged with Bardello and Malgesso, and became part the newborn comune of Bardello con Malgesso e Bregano.

Casciago is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Milan and about 4 kilometres (2 mi) west of Varese. As of 1 December 2021, it had a population of 3.613 and an area of 4.0 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi).Casciago borders the following municipalities: Barasso, Gavirate, Luvinate, Varese. Casciago could very well be the location of the ancient Cassiciacum, where Saint Augustine and a few friends lived together in a kind of philosophical commune after Augustine's conversion to Christianity.
