Ladywood High School was a private, Roman Catholic, all-girls high school in Livonia, Michigan. It was located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit. It opened in 1950. From 2005 to 2017 the number of students declined by 60%, with 169 students in 2017. In December 2017, the archdiocese announced that Ladywood High School would close at the end of the 2017–2018 school year.

Greenmead Historical Park, also known as Greenmead Farms, is a 3.2-acre (1.3 ha) historic park located at 38125 Base Line Rd., Livonia, Michigan. It includes the 1841 Greek Revival Simmons House, six other structures contributing to the historic nature of the property, and additional buildings moved from other locations. Greenmead Farms was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1971 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park is a non-profit cemetery in Livonia, Michigan and Macomb Township. Glen Eden began serving the community when a small group of investors started the cemetery in 1929. In 1932, a twist of fate transferred ownership and operation of the cemetery to four Lutheran churches. The St. Gabriel Mausoleum was designed by the architectural firm of J. Stuart Todd of Dallas, Texas, an international firm with over 1,500 completed cemetery projects to their credit. McCarthy & Smith, Inc. of Farmington Hills, Michigan providers of construction services to cemeteries throughout southeast Michigan for over thirty years provided construction services on the mausoleum. Both of these firms were also involved in the development of the first new cemetery in Macomb County in over three decades Glen Eden East, in Macomb Township as well. Surrounding the Chapel are four traditional burial gardens, beautifully landscaped and distinguished by specific themes that reflect life and individual character. The Garden of Faith, Garden of Hope and Garden of Resurrection feature individual and family lots while two specially dedicated gardens honor community members who have served during their lives; The Pastors Point Garden reserved for Lutheran pastors and their spouses, and The Garden of Valor which provides a special setting of honor for veterans and their spouses. In June 1962, Lutheran War Veterans Auxiliary, Gold Star Mothers and Blue Star Mothers, as a special place to pay tribute to veterans, dedicated Glen Eden's Veteran's Monument, now the focus of the Garden of Valor. To commemorate veterans who are buried elsewhere, a cenotaph memorial surrounds the massive flagpole in the Memorial Plaza Boulevard featuring a solid bronze bas-relief sculpture depicting those who have served their country.

Adlai E. Stevenson High School is a public high school located in Livonia, Michigan, a suburb west of Detroit.

The 1955 PGA Championship was the 37th PGA Championship, held July 20–26 in Michigan at Meadowbrook Country Club in Northville Township, northwest of nearby Detroit. Doug Ford won the match play championship, 4 & 3 over Cary Middlecoff in the Tuesday final; the winner's share was $5,000 and the runner-up earned $3,000. This was the first of two major titles for Ford, who won the Masters in 1957. Ford was also the medalist in the stroke-play qualifying with a 135 (−7), worth $250 and the Alex Smith trophy. He was the fourth to win the final match after winning the qualifier, joining Walter Hagen (1926), Olin Dutra (1932), and Byron Nelson (1945). Ford was the last medalist, as the format was changed in 1956 to seven rounds without a qualifier for two years, then to 72-hole stroke play in 1958. Defending champion Chick Harbert, a local resident, was defeated in the second round by Johnny Palmer, 1 up. No former champion advanced past the second round. This was second time in three years the PGA Championship was played near Detroit; the 1953 event was played at Birmingham Country Club in Birmingham, about 20 miles (30 km) northeast. The 1947 edition, in which Harbert was runner-up, was also held in the Detroit area.

Meadowbrook Country Club is a country club in Northville Township, Wayne County, near Northville, Michigan. The idea for Meadowbrook Country Club, a private golf and social club, came about in 1916 when 23 Northville businessmen purchased 125 acres (0.51 km2) of the Fred C. Cochran Farm. The club was named after a brook, which ran through the property. Its golf course hosted the PGA Championship in 1955, won by Doug Ford. Willie Park, Jr is credited with designing the original Meadowbrook 6-hole course which are present-day holes #10, #11, #7, #2, #3, and #18. Meadowbrook has hosted The Motor City Open which was a PGA Tour event played at various clubs in and around Detroit from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. The PGA Tour record for the longest sudden-death playoff was established at the 1949 Motor City Open, played at Meadowbrook. Cary Middlecoff and Lloyd Mangrum played 11 holes at Meadowbrook Country Club and were still stalemated when darkness arrived. Tournament officials, with the players mutual consent, declared them co-winners. Meadowbrook hosted the Motor City Open in 1948, 1949, 1954, and 1959. Livonia Transmission is a Ford Motor Company transmission factory in Livonia, Michigan. It is located at 36200 Plymouth Road. The plant sits on 182 acres and totals 3.3 million square feet of enclosed floorspace, making it the largest transmission plant in North America.

Livonia is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 95,535 at the 2020 census, which ranked it as Michigan's ninth most-populated municipality.Livonia is a part of Metro Detroit and is located about 2 miles (3.2 km) west of the city limits of Detroit, separated only by Redford Township. Originally organized as Livonia Township in 1835, it incorporated as a city in 1950.
