1955 PGA Championship

Meadowbrook Country Club is a country club in Northville Township, Wayne County, near Northville, Michigan. The idea for Meadowbrook Country Club, a private golf and social club, came about in 1916 when 23 Northville businessmen purchased 125 acres (0.51 km2) of the Fred C. Cochran Farm. The club was named after a brook, which ran through the property. Its golf course hosted the PGA Championship in 1955, won by Doug Ford. Willie Park, Jr is credited with designing the original Meadowbrook 6-hole course which are present-day holes #10, #11, #7, #2, #3, and #18. Meadowbrook has hosted The Motor City Open which was a PGA Tour event played at various clubs in and around Detroit from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. The PGA Tour record for the longest sudden-death playoff was established at the 1949 Motor City Open, played at Meadowbrook. Cary Middlecoff and Lloyd Mangrum played 11 holes at Meadowbrook Country Club and were still stalemated when darkness arrived. Tournament officials, with the players mutual consent, declared them co-winners. Meadowbrook hosted the Motor City Open in 1948, 1949, 1954, and 1959. The Joseph D. Yerkes House was a single-family home located at 42580 Eight Mile Rd in Novi, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, and burned in 1989.

Greenmead Historical Park, also known as Greenmead Farms, is a 3.2-acre (1.3 ha) historic park located at 38125 Base Line Rd., Livonia, Michigan. It includes the 1841 Greek Revival Simmons House, six other structures contributing to the historic nature of the property, and additional buildings moved from other locations. Greenmead Farms was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1971 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Ford Valve Plant is a factory building located at 235 East Main Street in Northville, Michigan. The plant was built as part of Henry Ford's vision of decentralizing manufacturing and integrating it into rural communities. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Northville Township, officially the Charter Township of Northville, is a charter township of Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan and a suburb in Metro Detroit. The population was 28,497 at the 2010 census.The City of Northville is adjacent to the northern part of the township but is administratively autonomous. Portions of Northville Township were incorporated into the Village of Northville, which later incorporated as the City of Northville. Portions of the township have also since been annexed to the city. The most recent annexation was property owned by the City of Northville as part of the Rural Hill Cemetery. The entire township is served by the Northville District Library and by its own police and fire departments.

The Northville Historic District is located in Northville, Michigan. It was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1970 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The district is roughly bounded by Cady Street, Rogers Street, and Randolph Street; alterations to the boundaries of the city-designated district in 2003 and 2007 included structures on the opposite sides of the original bounding streets within the district. The district is located in the heart of old Northville, and is primarily residential, although the 73 contributing structures, include several commercial buildings and a church. The majority of the district contains Gothic Revival houses constructed between 1860 and 1880.

Novi Township is a civil township of Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. At the 2010 census, the township had a population of 150. Of the original 36-square-mile (93 km2) survey township, only a small portion of 0.11 square miles (0.28 km2) remains unincorporated from the surrounding city of Novi. Novi Township is the smallest township in the state by total land area and the third-smallest municipality after the villages of Ahmeek and Copper City.The township consists solely of the Brookland Farms #1 subdivision and is served by the Northville 48167 ZIP Code.
