Venthône Castle

Noble-Contrée is a municipality in the district of Sierre in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. On 1 January 2021 the former municipalities of Miège, Venthône and Veyras merged to form the new municipality of Noble-Contrée.

Sierre (French pronunciation: ​[sjɛʁ]; German: Siders, [zidɐs]; Arpitan: Siérro, [ˈʃiʁo] (listen)) is the capital municipality of the district of Sierre, located in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. It has a population of 16,332. Sierre is nicknamed City of the Sun (French: Cité du Soleil) for its average of 300 days of sunshine a year. It is the last official French-speaking city in Valais before the French–German language border of the canton located at the forêt de Finges, a few kilometres after the town. A German-speaking minority lives in Sierre, counting for around 8% of the population.

Château de Muzot (also known as Maison Muzot or Muzot Castle) is a 13th-century fortified manor house located near Veyras in Switzerland's Rhone Valley. In 1921, it was purchased by Swiss merchant and arts patron Werner Reinhart who then invited Bohemian-Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926) to live there rent-free. It was at Muzot, during a few weeks in February 1922, that Rilke after a long silence caused by severe depression finally completed the Duino Elegies and wrote the entire Sonnets to Orpheus (both published in 1923).

Marie-Eugénie Caps (1892-1931) was a French Catholic sister who founded the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Spirit or Spiritaines or Spiritan Sisters in January 1921, at the age of 28.

The Rainer Maria Rilke Foundation (in French: Fondation Rainer Maria Rilke) was established in 1986 in Sierre, Switzerland, on the patronage of the municipality. Its goal is to promote the knowledge of Rainer Maria Rilke's works, through a museum, exhibitions, lectures, conferences, publications and a festival. The famous poet spent the five last years of his life in the city, living in the Château de Muzot, a 13th-century fortified manor on the edge of town. Since 1987, the foundation installed the museum in the Maison de Courten, built in 1769, located at the rue du Bourg 30 in Sierre.

Sierre/Siders railway station (French: Gare de Sierre, German: Bahnhof Siders) is a railway station in the municipality of Sierre, in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is an intermediate stop on the Simplon line and is served by local and long-distance trains. Lac de Géronde (German: Gerundensee) is a lake at Sierre, Valais, Switzerland. At an elevation of 523 metres (1,716 ft), it has a surface area of 0.055 square kilometres. A trail, made out of woodchips, leads around the lake. A public bathing beach, the „Bains de Géronde“, is located at the northwest border of the lake. Besides the main lake, there are two "petit lacs" (small lakes) close by. From Sierre train station, the Lac de Géronde can be reached by foot in 10 minutes.
