Noble-Contrée is a municipality in the district of Sierre in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. On 1 January 2021 the former municipalities of Miège, Venthône and Veyras merged to form the new municipality of Noble-Contrée.

Sierre (French pronunciation: ​[sjɛʁ]; German: Siders, [zidɐs]; Arpitan: Siérro, [ˈʃiʁo] (listen)) is the capital municipality of the district of Sierre, located in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. It has a population of 16,332. Sierre is nicknamed City of the Sun (French: Cité du Soleil) for its average of 300 days of sunshine a year. It is the last official French-speaking city in Valais before the French–German language border of the canton located at the forêt de Finges, a few kilometres after the town. A German-speaking minority lives in Sierre, counting for around 8% of the population.

Lac de Géronde (German: Gerundensee) is a lake at Sierre, Valais, Switzerland. At an elevation of 523 metres (1,716 ft), it has a surface area of 0.055 square kilometres. A trail, made out of woodchips, leads around the lake. A public bathing beach, the „Bains de Géronde“, is located at the northwest border of the lake. Besides the main lake, there are two "petit lacs" (small lakes) close by. From Sierre train station, the Lac de Géronde can be reached by foot in 10 minutes.

The Sierre coach crash occurred on 13 March 2012 near Sierre, Switzerland, when a coach carrying school teachers and pupils crashed into a wall in the Sierre Tunnel. Of the 52 people on board, 28 were killed in the crash, including both drivers, all four teachers, and 22 of the 46 children. The other 24 pupils, all aged between 10 and 12, were injured, including three who were hospitalised with severe brain and chest injuries. The coach was one of three operated by the Aarschot-based Top Tours company and was transporting mostly Belgian school teachers and students from a skiing holiday in Val d'Anniviers back to their two schools in Belgium. It crashed at around 9.15 pm CET while travelling on the A9 motorway near Sierre, in the southern canton of Valais. It was Switzerland's second-worst road accident in history and the country's worst in a motorway tunnel. The investigation into the crash initially closed inconclusively in May 2013, having ruled out a number of factors that had been the subject of media speculation but failing to identify a cause. A further public investigation, closing at the end of June 2014, attributed the crash to a non-criminal error on the part of the coach driver. Media speculation has continued.

Château de Muzot (also known as Maison Muzot or Muzot Castle) is a 13th-century fortified manor house located near Veyras in Switzerland's Rhone Valley. In 1921, it was purchased by Swiss merchant and arts patron Werner Reinhart who then invited Bohemian-Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926) to live there rent-free. It was at Muzot, during a few weeks in February 1922, that Rilke after a long silence caused by severe depression finally completed the Duino Elegies and wrote the entire Sonnets to Orpheus (both published in 1923).

Venthône Castle is a fortified tower in the village of Venthône which is part of municipality of Noble-Contrée of the Canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

Marie-Eugénie Caps (1892-1931) was a French Catholic sister who founded the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Spirit or Spiritaines or Spiritan Sisters in January 1921, at the age of 28.

Beauregard Castle (in French "Château de Beauregard") is a ruined castle on the territory of Chippis in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. It is situated on a rocky spur at the entrance to the Val d'Anniviers. Of unknown origin and use, it belonged to the Raron family in the 14th century. In 1387, the castle was damaged by the soldiers of Amadeus VII in reprisal for an uprising of the Raron against the Bishop of Sion, Edward of Savoy. Thirty years later, it was destroyed in a fire as a result of the Raron affair. Archaeological excavations between 2008 and 2011 have revealed its perimeter and ruins. The castle had a dwelling served by a spiral staircase, a tower and a circular cistern unique in Valais, all surrounded by an enclosure. Access from the footpath used to be via a wooden footbridge. Since 2017 it is accessible via a short via ferrata.
