Schmidt Gymnasium

The University of Arkansas (U of A, UArk, or UA) is a public land-grant research university in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It is the flagship campus of the University of Arkansas System. Founded as Arkansas Industrial University in 1871, classes were first held in 1872, with its present name adopted in 1899. The university campus consists of 378 buildings spread across 512 acres (2.07 km2) of land in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Some well known architecture on campus includes Old Main, the first permanent academic building erected. It offers over 200 academic programs, including a highly regarded history program. As of Fall 2023, total enrollment was 32,140. The university is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity" and had spent $164.4 million on research in FY 2021.The University of Arkansas's athletic teams, the Arkansas Razorbacks, compete in NCAA Division I as members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) with eight men's teams and eleven women's teams in thirteen sports. The university is known for its traditions, including Calling the Hogs at sports events, and the Senior Walk, more than 4 miles (6.4 km) of campus sidewalk etched with the names of all UA graduates since 1871.

The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences is the liberal arts college at the University of Arkansas. It is named for former University President and United States Senator J. William Fulbright. The College has 19 different academic departments, and is the largest school or college at the University. Fulbright College's Creative Writing and Translation programs rank among the top in the nation.

The David W. Mullins Library is the main research library of the University of Arkansas. The University Libraries also include the Robert A. and Vivian Young Law Library, the Fine Arts Library, the Chemistry and Biochemistry Library, and the Physics Library. Named for University President David Wiley Mullins, Mullins Library was built in 1968 to replace Vol Walker Hall as the main University Library. Mullins Library was renovated and expanded in 1997. The University Libraries’ combined holdings total more than 2.4 million volumes of books and periodicals, 5.5 million microforms, and 92,600 journal titles. Other resources include 144,000 maps, 21,000 linear feet of manuscripts, 43,000 audio and video recordings, and thousands of music scores. The Libraries’ Special Collections acquires and preserves access to historical manuscripts, University Archives, Arkansas Collection, rare books, historical maps, and the Arkansas Architectural Archives. The University of Arkansas School of Law is the law school of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a state university. It has around 445 students enrolled in its Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Law (LL.M) programs and is home to the nation's first LL.M in agricultural and food law program. The School of Law is one of two law schools in the state of Arkansas; the other is the William H. Bowen School of Law (University of Arkansas at Little Rock). According to the University of Arkansas School of Law's 2013 ABA-required disclosures, 68% of the Class of 2013 had obtained full-time, long-term, JD-required employment nine months after graduation.

Walton College offers undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs and is known nationally for its strong programs in retail, finance, information systems, and supply chain management. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Walton College among the top business schools in the country. The college has a close relationship with Walmart Stores, Inc., based in nearby Bentonville, Arkansas, and related vendor community.
