Start High School (Toledo, Ohio)

Thomas A. DeVilbiss High School was a public high school in Toledo, Ohio from 1931 to June 1991. It was part of the Toledo Public Schools, serving students from the DeVeaux, Elmhurst, Grove Patterson, Longfellow, Mayfair, McKinley, Nathan Hale, Old Orchard, and Whittier elementary schools. The building still sits at 3301 Upton Avenue near the Central Avenue intersection. The DeVilbiss Tigers were members of the Toledo City League and donned the colors of orange and black. On the contrary, the school colors were the colors of the rainbow, hence the yearbook being the Pot O' Gold, and the school newspaper/newsletter the Prism. Their main rivals were the Start Spartans, although rivalries existed with the St. Francis Knights and the Libbey Cowboys, whom they annually played football against on Thanksgiving day from 1933–1963. In 1974 DeVilbiss received an obscure salute when 1965 alumnus, and then budding satirist P. J. O'Rourke, along with fellow Ohioan Doug Kenney, used the Pot O’ Gold and DeVilbiss as templates for the National Lampoon 1964 High School Yearbook Parody. That issue contains dozens of direct and indirect references to DeVilbiss and west Toledo. O’Rourke later said that they “… used DeVilbiss because Ohio and Toledo and DHS just seemed so perfectly 1964 American prelapsarian typical…” By “prelapsarian” he meant before the social and political unrest and violence that occurred in the intervening ten years. Due to a declining enrollment and low finances, DeVilbiss was closed along with Macomber and Whitney high schools by TPS at the end of the 1990–1991 school year. The DeVilbiss district was split up so students could attend Bowsher, Rogers, Scott, or Start high schools.The building has been renovated by Duket Architects and currently serves as Toledo Technology Academy, which opened in 1997.DeVilbiss served as the home of Scott High School for two years while Scott's building underwent renovations from 2010–2012.DeVilbiss' Page Stadium was fully torn down at the end of May 2012.

Library Village is one of many historic neighborhoods in Toledo, Ohio; the neighborhood is named for the historic West Toledo Branch Library, located just off Sylvania Avenue at Willys Parkway."West Toledo Branch opened in its present building in 1930. In 2001 the branch remodeled and expanded. This library is such a beloved community center that the entire neighborhood is called Library Village."

Toledo Propulsion Systems (previously called Toledo Transmission Operations, TTO, and Powertrain Toledo) is a 2.8 million square feet; 151 acres General Motors transmission factory in Toledo, Ohio. The plant manufactures and assembles GM’s six-speed, eight-speed and ten-speed rear-wheel-drive and nine-speed front-wheel-drive transmissions that are used in a variety of Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. Hourly employees are represented by UAW Local 14.

Whitmer High School is a public high school in Toledo, Ohio, named for John Wallace Whitmer, an educator who helped organize high school classes for the area. It is the only high school in the Washington Local School District in Lucas County, Ohio, serving the northwest section of Toledo up to the Michigan state line. It is the largest high school in the Toledo area. Whitmer offers 200 courses including honors and AP classes, 16 career training programs, 22 varsity sports, and more than 50 extracurricular activities. Students regularly receive district, state, and national accolades in art, music, and career training competitions.

ProMedica Toledo Hospital is a 794-bed non-profit hospital in Toledo, Ohio operated by ProMedica. The hospital is a Level I trauma center and the largest acute care hospital in the Toledo metropolitan area with at least 4,800 health care professionals, including more than 1,000 specialty and primary care physicians, making it the region's largest employer.The hospital's Toledo campus includes ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital, a Level II pediatric trauma center with 151 beds, including a 72-bed newborn intensive care unit.Divisions of ProMedica Toledo Hospital include ProMedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania and ProMedica Wildwood Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital in Sylvania Township. In 2015, the University of Toledo entered into a 50-year agreement with ProMedica to affiliate the school's University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences with the hospital.

Ottawa is a neighborhood in west central Toledo, Ohio, bordered by Secor Road to the West, Dorr Street to the South, Central Ave. to the North, and Upton and Monroe to the East and North. It derives its name from the Ottawa Indians that settled in the area in the early 18th century, as well as Ottawa Park, a prominent recreational area located within the community.The district features historic neighborhoods such as Old Orchard, Indian Hills and Westmoreland. Old Orchard and Indian Hills are parallel to the Village of Ottawa Hills and have similar architectural styles and multi-level single-family homes. Westmoreland is bordered by Bancroft Street, Parkside Boulevard and Upton Ave. It is characterized by architectural styles ranging from Colonial to French, with rounded, undulating streets and open miniparks.

Notre Dame Academy is an all-girls Catholic high school located in Toledo, Ohio. It is within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toledo and is sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame. The academy was founded in 1904 and is fully accredited by the Ohio State Department of Education, and the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association (OCSAA). The school president is Mrs. Kim Grilliot and the principal is Mrs. Sarah Cullum. Notre Dame Academy offers a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities, such as Global Concerns, various language clubs, Current Events club and the popular speech team and Fall musical. Notre Dame Academy offers a variety of athletics as well, such as crew, golf, soccer, tennis, basketball and swimming.

Davis University is a private for-profit college in Toledo, Ohio. It was formerly known as Davis College, Davis Business College, and Toledo Business College. In July 2019, the college announced it would be moving its campus to downtown Toledo, Ohio.

Old Orchard is a neighborhood in Toledo, Ohio that is roughly bordered by Bancroft Street, Secor Road, Central Avenue and Douglas Road, and is bordered by the University of Toledo to the south and the Village of Ottawa Hills to the west.
