Thomas A. DeVilbiss High School was a public high school in Toledo, Ohio from 1931 to June 1991. It was part of the Toledo Public Schools, serving students from the DeVeaux, Elmhurst, Grove Patterson, Longfellow, Mayfair, McKinley, Nathan Hale, Old Orchard, and Whittier elementary schools. The building still sits at 3301 Upton Avenue near the Central Avenue intersection. The DeVilbiss Tigers were members of the Toledo City League and donned the colors of orange and black. On the contrary, the school colors were the colors of the rainbow, hence the yearbook being the Pot O' Gold, and the school newspaper/newsletter the Prism. Their main rivals were the Start Spartans, although rivalries existed with the St. Francis Knights and the Libbey Cowboys, whom they annually played football against on Thanksgiving day from 1933–1963. In 1974 DeVilbiss received an obscure salute when 1965 alumnus, and then budding satirist P. J. O'Rourke, along with fellow Ohioan Doug Kenney, used the Pot O’ Gold and DeVilbiss as templates for the National Lampoon 1964 High School Yearbook Parody. That issue contains dozens of direct and indirect references to DeVilbiss and west Toledo. O’Rourke later said that they “… used DeVilbiss because Ohio and Toledo and DHS just seemed so perfectly 1964 American prelapsarian typical…” By “prelapsarian” he meant before the social and political unrest and violence that occurred in the intervening ten years. Due to a declining enrollment and low finances, DeVilbiss was closed along with Macomber and Whitney high schools by TPS at the end of the 1990–1991 school year. The DeVilbiss district was split up so students could attend Bowsher, Rogers, Scott, or Start high schools.The building has been renovated by Duket Architects and currently serves as Toledo Technology Academy, which opened in 1997.DeVilbiss served as the home of Scott High School for two years while Scott's building underwent renovations from 2010–2012.DeVilbiss' Page Stadium was fully torn down at the end of May 2012.

St. Francis de Sales School or SFS is a private, all-male, college-preparatory school in Toledo, Ohio. It is located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toledo. The school was named as one of the top 20 Catholic high schools in the nation for academics by Catholic High School Honor Roll for two consecutive years in 2005 and 2006.

Westmoreland is a historic neighborhood in Toledo, Ohio and is roughly bordered by Dorr Street, Parkside Boulevard, Bancroft Street, and Upton Avenue."In March 1986 Westmoreland, located about one half mile from the University of Toledo, was designated a historical district by the United States Department of Interior." "This national designation has helped the neighborhood preserve its unique character.""The vision of real estate developers William B. Welles and Badger C. Bowen, the neighborhood was named because of its rolling hills that reminded them of the east Virginia county [where] George Washington was born." "Appropriately, the streets were named after other Virginia namesakes, such as Mount Vernon, Richmond, Potomac and Shenandoah.""It was the home of some of Toledo's most prominent Business men and Industrialists." "Names like Folgers, Spieker, Pinkerton, Siegel, McKesson, Moburg, Ohlinger, Fructhman all called Westmoreland home." "[The neighborhood] dates back to 1918 when construction began and now has 217 of the original 323 built upon, which allows many green park like areas in the neighborhoods."

Woodlawn Cemetery is a rural cemetery and arboretum located in Toledo, Ohio. It is one of several cemeteries in the United States to have that name, and one of a few to be on the National Register of Historic Places.Established in 1876, it sits on 160 acres (0.65 km2) of land, 47 acres (190,000 m2) are undeveloped, and consists of 65,000 interments.

Brooks Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the University of Toledo. The observatory is used primarily for public viewing and undergraduate instruction. It hosts an array of small telescopes, the centrepiece of which is a Celestron 14 Edge HD. It is located on the campus of the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio (USA), occupying the 6th floor of McMaster Hall, home to the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Adjacent to Brooks Observatory is Ritter Observatory, which houses Ritter Planetarium and a one-metre telescope. In contrast to the telescopes at Brooks Observatory, the Ritter telescope is used for graduate and faculty research.

Savage Arena (formerly John F. Savage Hall and Centennial Hall) is a multi-purpose arena located in Toledo, Ohio, on the campus of the University of Toledo. The arena opened in 1976 and originally seated 9,000 for basketball and up to 10,000 for concerts. As part of a $30 million renovation and addition to the arena, completed in 2008, the seating capacity was reduced to 7,300 for basketball and up to 8,300 for concerts. It primarily serves as the home venue for the Toledo Rockets men's and women's basketball teams and women's volleyball team, and also hosts concerts, commencement exercises, and other events.

The 2014–15 Toledo Rockets Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Toledo during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Rockets, led by fifth year head coach Tod Kowalczyk, played their home games at Savage Arena, as members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 20–13, 11–7 in MAC play to finish in second place in the West Division. They advanced to the semifinals of the MAC tournament where they lost to Central Michigan. Despite having 20 wins, they were not invited to a postseason tournament.

The Ritter Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the University of Toledo (UT) in Toledo, Ohio. Ritter Planetarium is located in the same building, and the university also operates Brooks Observatory in an adjacent building. Ritter Observatory features a 1.06 m (42 in) Ritchey-Chrétien telescope built in 1967 by Warner & Swasey Company of Cleveland, Ohio. It was installed in 1968, and is used primarily for spectroscopy and occasionally for instruction and public viewing events. Research conducted at the observatory focuses on long-term spectroscopic monitoring of stars such as Rigel, Beta Lyrae, and Zeta Tauri.

Old Orchard is a neighborhood in Toledo, Ohio that is roughly bordered by Bancroft Street, Secor Road, Central Avenue and Douglas Road, and is bordered by the University of Toledo to the south and the Village of Ottawa Hills to the west.

The Toledo Metropolitan Area, or Greater Toledo, or Northwest Ohio is a metropolitan area centered on the American city of Toledo, Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the four-county Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) had a population of 646,604. It is the sixth-largest metropolitan area in the state of Ohio, behind Cincinnati–Northern Kentucky, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, and Akron. Located on the border with Michigan, the metropolitan area includes the counties of Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood. The Greater Toledo area has strong ties to Metro Detroit, located 40 miles (64 km) north, and has many daily commuters from southern Monroe County, Michigan. Toledo is also part of the Great Lakes Megalopolis.The separate micropolitan areas of Findlay, Fremont, and Tiffin are included in the Toledo-Findlay-Tiffin Combined Statistical Area (CSA), which includes the counties of the Toledo MSA as well as Hancock County, Sandusky County, and Seneca County. The 2020 Census lists the population of the CSA at 835,489. The wider region of Northwest Ohio adds Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Williams counties.
