Columbia Heights station

Trinity Towers is an historic structure located in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in the Northwest Quadrant of Washington, D.C. Harvey Warwick designed the structure in the Gothic Moderne style. It was completed in 1928 along the 14th Street streetcar line. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

DC USA is an 890,000-square-foot (83,000 m2) retail development in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C. A Washington City Paper poll named DC USA the "Best Designed Retail Space" of 2009. The development is adjacent to the Columbia Heights station on the Yellow and Green Lines of the Washington Metro. It is also served by ten bus routes and has a 1,000-space parking garage. Anchored by big-box retail stores typically associated with suburban developments, the complex is accessible to more than 36,000 residents within a 10-minute walk of the site. A total of 335,000 residents live within a 3-mile (4.8 km) radius. The development has been designed to fit into its urban setting, with the buildings holding the street line to frame the sidewalks and continue the urban scale. Target, one of the anchors, has expanded its urban store concept to numerous cities across the country. In 2013 it opened a store in a redeveloped historic office building in the heart of Portland, Oregon.

Truck Company F, at 1336-1338 Park Rd. NW in Washington, D.C., was built in 1900. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. The listing included two contributing buildings.It was designed by architect Leon E. Dessez in Renaissance style.It has also been known as Truck Company 6, as Old Engine Company 11, and as Old Columbia Heights Firehouse. It was designated a Washington, D.C. historic designation on July 22, 2004. According to the DC Office of Planning,Truck Company F was built in 1900 to serve the emerging neighborhood of Columbia Heights. It was one of the first of a new series of high-style firehouses created in the eclectic period between the late 1890s and World War I, as an expression of civic pride and as a testament to the importance of the Fire Department. The superb Italian Renaissance Revival design by local architect Leon Dessez is executed with a high degree of finish and formality, using Roman brick and glazed terra cotta detail. The rear stable, similar in design, also remains. The firehouse was built for Truck Company F (whose designation is inscribed in the terra cotta frieze); it was renamed Truck Company 6 in 1906, and merged with Engine Company 11 in 1940. The building was removed from active duty when Engine Company 11 relocated in 1982.

Park Road Courts is an apartment building and an historic structure located in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in Washington, D.C. It is three-story brick building built on a raised basement. The architectural firm of Hunter & Bell designed the structure that was completed in 1916. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

The Riggs–Tompkins Building is an historic structure located in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C. George N. Ray designed the building that was completed in 1922. It has been listed on the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites since 1985 and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Tivoli Theatre is a landmark building in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C. on 14th Street and Park Road Northwest. Originally built as a movie theater, it currently (as of 2006) exhibits live stage productions as the home of the GALA Hispanic Theatre.

Bell Multicultural High School is a public school located in the neighborhood of Columbia Heights in Washington, D.C., United States. Bell Multicultural is a part of the District of Columbia Public Schools. As of May 2008, the principal is Maria Tukeva.

The David White House is a historic house at 1459 Girard Street NW in Washington, D.C. A National Historic Landmark, it was the home of geologist David White (1862–1935) from 1910 to 1925. White had a longtime association with the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and performed groundbreaking research on peat and petroleum geology.

National Baptist Memorial Church is a Baptist church in Washington, D.C. It is located at the intersection of 16th Street NW and Columbia Road, where the Mt. Pleasant, Columbia Heights and Adams Morgan neighborhoods meet. The crossroads is notable for the triple steeples of National Baptist Memorial Church, All Souls Unitarian Church and the Unification Church's cathedral (formerly the Mormon's Washington Chapel). It is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA, the Progressive National Baptist Convention, and to a certain extent the Southern Baptist Convention. Rev. Kasey D. Jones became the senior pastor in 2006 and served until 2017. She was the first woman and the first African-American to serve in that role. Rev. Dr. Charles E. Collins, Jr. has served as the interim pastor since 2017.

The Shrine of the Sacred Heart is a Roman Catholic parish established in 1899 in the Mount Pleasant/Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington D.C. The parish church is a large domed Byzantine structure modeled after the Cathedral in Ravenna, Italy. The current church is actually the second that the Shrine of the Sacred Heart community has called home. The original red brick structure was dedicated in 1901, and the current structure in 1922. Both buildings were influenced by the City Beautiful architectural movement which overtook Washington from 1901 to 1910.The parish was originally part of the Archdiocese of Baltimore before the establishment of the Diocese of Washington in 1923. The diocese was elevated to an archdiocese in 1939.

Francis Asbury, also known as the Francis Asbury Memorial, is a public equestrian statue, by American artist Augustus Lukeman, located at 16th Street and Mt. Pleasant Street, Northwest, Washington, D.C., in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood. It was originally surveyed as part of the Smithsonian's Save Outdoor Sculpture! survey in 1994.

Columbia Heights is a neighborhood in Northwest Washington, D.C., United States. It has diverse demographics, the DC USA shopping mall and many restaurants, BloomBars, Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park, Howard University, Banneker Recreation Center, and All Souls Church.Developed as a Washington suburb after the American Civil War, growth accelerated in the early 1900s. The extension of the DC streetcar system in 1914 made the neighborhood a popular place to live among federal workers. In the 1940s, the designation of Cardozo High School as a "colored" school resulted in a demographic shift and the neighborhood became predominantly African-American. The 1968 Washington, D.C., riots devastated the area and turmoil in the 1970s and 1980s followed. Beginning in the late 1990s, the addition of a Washington Metro station and other initiatives led to the redevelopment of the neighborhood. Columbia Heights has been listed as one of D.C.'s neighborhoods where home sellers get more than asking price. Unlike some gentrified neighborhoods in the city, Columbia Heights has not become homogeneous: "white, Asian, black and Latino residents each make up at least 10% of the population—and no group constitutes a majority." It has been described as "a perfect little microcosm of D.C." Housing includes high-priced condominiums and townhouses, as well as public and middle-income housing, and million-dollar homes.
