In 1999, the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTM Research Reserve) was designated in St. Johns and Flagler counties, Florida as a part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) system. The GTM Research Reserve represents the east Florida sub-region of the Carolinian bioregion. It is one of 30 NERRs in 23 states and one territory. GTM is one of three NERRs in Florida and is administered on behalf of the state by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Coastal Office as part of a network that includes forty-one aquatic preserves, three NERRs, a National Marine Sanctuary, the Coral Reef Conservation Program and the Florida Oceans and Coastal Council. Additional interests are held in the research and management of the GTM and connected preserved or conserved lands including: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Friends of the GTM Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission Florida and US Department of Environmental Protection University of North Florida, Whitney Laboratory, Marineland State, National, Federal, Cit park systems St. Johns River Water Management District State and Federal Forestry Service

Deep Creek State Forest (DCSF) is a 380-acre state forest 11 miles north of St. Augustine, Florida in St. Johns County, Florida. Deep Creek State Forest is located on both sides of Deep Creek, for which it is named. The state forest is west of the Guana River Wildlife Management Area across the Intracoastal Waterway (Tolomato River).

NFRA serves as a key connection point for air travel in the Northeast Florida region. It is a public airport managed by the St. Johns County Airport Authority on behalf of the citizens of St. Johns County. Airport facilities include both commercial and general aviation terminals. Most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but Northeast Florida Regional Airport is SGJ to the FAA and UST to the IATA (which assigned SGJ to Sagarai, Papua New Guinea).

The Battle of Fort Mose (often called Bloody Mose, or Bloody Moosa) was a significant action of the War of Jenkins' Ear that took place on June 14, 1740 in Spanish Florida. Captain Antonio Salgado commanded a Spanish column of 300 regular troops, backed by the free black militia under Francisco Menéndez and allied Seminole warriors consisting of Indian auxiliaries. They stormed Fort Mose, a strategically crucial position newly held by 170 British soldiers under Colonel John Palmer. Palmer and his garrison had taken the fort from the Spanish as part of James Oglethorpe's offensive to capture St. Augustine. Taken by surprise, the British garrison was virtually annihilated. Colonel Palmer, three captains and three lieutenants were among the British troops killed in action. The battle destroyed the fort. The Spanish did not rebuild it until 1752.

Fort Mose, originally known as Gracia Real de Santa Teresa de Mose (Royal Grace of Saint Teresa of Mose), and later as Fort Mose, or alternatively, Fort Moosa or Fort Mossa, is a former Spanish fort in St. Augustine, Florida. In 1738, the governor of Spanish Florida, Manuel de Montiano, had the fort established as a free black settlement, the first to be legally sanctioned in what would become the territory of the United States. It was designated a US National Historic Landmark on October 12, 1994. Fort Mose Historic State Park, which now includes a visitors' center and small museum, is located on the edge of a salt marsh on the western side of the waterway separating the mainland from the coastal barrier islands. The original site of the 18th-century fort was uncovered in a 1986 archeological dig. The 24-acre (9.7 ha) site is now protected as a Florida state park, administered through the Anastasia State Recreation Area. Fort Mose is the "premier site on the Florida Black Heritage Trail".In 2022, the Florida State Parks Foundation was awarded a grant from the Florida African American Cultural and Historical Grants Program to reconstruct the fort for historic purposes. Additional funds were raised from a jazz concert held shortly before the announcement.Fort Mose has become a venue for outdoor concerts. Another blues concert was held in February 2023.

The Church of Our Saviour is an Episcopal church in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville, Florida, U.S. It is located on the St. Johns River at 12236 Mandarin Road. The congregation was founded in 1880 by a group Episcopalians, Church of England members and those from other denominations who wanted to start a new church in the Anglican mode. These people had gathered for Bible readings with Professor Calvin E. Stowe and his famous wife, Harriet Beecher Stowe for many years. They constructed a small but sound church building designed by Ellis and McClure in 1883, which stood until 1964 when Hurricane Dora's winds broke off part of a giant Live Oak and sent it crashing through the church's roof. The Stowe Memorial stained glass window, created by Louis Comfort Tiffany, was completely destroyed. The congregation built a new church in a similar design; it remains an active parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Florida.

Vilano Beach is an unincorporated community in St. Johns County, Florida, United States. It was listed as the Villano Beach census-designated place (CDP) by the U.S. Census Bureau from 2010 to 1990; however, the name was corrected to Vilano Beach for the 2020 census. The population was 2,514 at the 2020 census.

St. Augustine High School is the oldest active public high school in the St. Johns County School District, located in unincorporated St. Johns County, Florida, with a St. Augustine postal address. It teaches students in grades 9 through 12. SAHS is home to an athletics department, performing arts department, visual arts department, Aerospace Academy, Teaching Assistant, and Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC), and Law and Homeland Security Academy. Historically, there was no distinction between Ponte Vedra and Ponte Vedra Beach. However, after the Nocatee development became reality and Ponte Vedra High School opened, the United States Postal Service designated the area south and southwest of the 32082 area as Ponte Vedra and assigned it zip code 32081 in anticipation of future growth. Ponte Vedra is located west of the Intracoastal Waterway; south and east of the Duval county line. It presently includes parts of Palm Valley, much of Nocotee, Allen D. Nease Senior High School and Ponte Vedra High School The population of Ponte Vedra was 33,249 according to Census data:ACS 2023 and it is primarily a residential area.

St. Johns Technical High School is a public high school located in St. Augustine, Florida. "St. Johns Technical High School serves the district as a "School of Choice". "The school was created in 2004 and was designed to provide our district's at-risk students an academic program matched with technical training in a smaller, more personalized learning environment for the purpose of effecting a successful post-secondary career transition."

The Fullerwood Park Residential Historic District is a U.S. historic district in St. Augustine, Florida. The district is roughly bounded on the north by Hildreth Drive, the south by Macaris Street, the west by San Marco Avenue and east by Hospital Creek.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 24, 2010.
