Siege of Fort Mose

Fort Mose, originally known as Gracia Real de Santa Teresa de Mose (Royal Grace of Saint Teresa of Mose), and later as Fort Mose, or alternatively, Fort Moosa or Fort Mossa, is a former Spanish fort in St. Augustine, Florida. In 1738, the governor of Spanish Florida, Manuel de Montiano, had the fort established as a free black settlement, the first to be legally sanctioned in what would become the territory of the United States. It was designated a US National Historic Landmark on October 12, 1994. Fort Mose Historic State Park, which now includes a visitors' center and small museum, is located on the edge of a salt marsh on the western side of the waterway separating the mainland from the coastal barrier islands. The original site of the 18th-century fort was uncovered in a 1986 archeological dig. The 24-acre (9.7 ha) site is now protected as a Florida state park, administered through the Anastasia State Recreation Area. Fort Mose is the "premier site on the Florida Black Heritage Trail".In 2022, the Florida State Parks Foundation was awarded a grant from the Florida African American Cultural and Historical Grants Program to reconstruct the fort for historic purposes. Additional funds were raised from a jazz concert held shortly before the announcement.Fort Mose has become a venue for outdoor concerts. Another blues concert was held in February 2023.

The Fullerwood Park Residential Historic District is a U.S. historic district in St. Augustine, Florida. The district is roughly bounded on the north by Hildreth Drive, the south by Macaris Street, the west by San Marco Avenue and east by Hospital Creek.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 24, 2010.

St. Augustine Water Works is a national historic site located at 184 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine, Florida in St. Johns County. Completed in 1898, in 1928 it was converted to a community center. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 5, 2014.

The Nelmar Terrace Historic District is a U.S. historic district in St. Augustine, Florida. The district is roughly bounded by Hospital Creek on the east, San Marco Ave. on the west, San Carlos Ave. on the south and Milton and Alfred streets on the north.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 28, 2011.

The Old Jail (also known as Authentic Old Jail) is a historic jail in St. Augustine, Florida. It is located at 167 San Marco Avenue. On August 27, 1987, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The St. Johns County Jail now serves as the Old Jail Museum.

St. Johns Technical High School is a public high school located in St. Augustine, Florida. "St. Johns Technical High School serves the district as a "School of Choice". "The school was created in 2004 and was designed to provide our district's at-risk students an academic program matched with technical training in a smaller, more personalized learning environment for the purpose of effecting a successful post-secondary career transition."

The Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park is a privately owned 15-acre (61,000 m2) park in St. Augustine, Florida, located along Hospital Creek, part of the Intracoastal Waterway. It has been touted as the likely 1513 Florida landing site of Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon, although no evidence has been found to substantiate this claim. Recent research by amateur historian Douglas Peck has placed another possible landing site in the vicinity of Melbourne Beach in Brevard County.The park contains a well claimed to be the freshwater source referred to by Antonio de Herrera y Tordesillas in his Historia general de los hechos de los castellanos en las Islas y Tierra Firme del mar Océano and supposedly sought by Ponce de Leon, but there is no supporting evidence. Archaeological excavations made by Dr. Kathleen Deagan on the park's grounds in the 1990s uncovered remains of the first Spanish settlement and its fortifications in St. Augustine.

Vilano Beach is an unincorporated community in St. Johns County, Florida, United States. It was listed as the Villano Beach census-designated place (CDP) by the U.S. Census Bureau from 2010 to 1990; however, the name was corrected to Vilano Beach for the 2020 census. The population was 2,514 at the 2020 census.

Mission Nombre de Dios is a Catholic mission founded in 1565 in St. Augustine, Florida, on the west side of Matanzas Bay. It is part of the Diocese of St. Augustine and is likely the oldest extant mission in the continental United States. The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche, the oldest shrine in that region, is located on the mission grounds.

The Horace Walker House, also known as Castillo Sebastian is a historic home in St. Augustine, Florida built around 1888. It is located at 33 Old Mission Avenue, near the north city gate. On January 30, 1998, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The house was erected using mold-formed concrete blocks, commonly called "artificial stone". Smith was the first to make concrete blocks that used crushed coquina instead of sand, along with Portland cement. In the late 19th century, this type of construction was new but the blocks used display the same characteristics: smooth/rough opposite surfaces, plus iron rods used for structural reinforcement. The two-story, two bedroom, two bath house is one of St. Augustine's smallest examples of Moorish Revival architecture. The flat roof with decorative parapets are typical for the style; as is the front porch with five Tuscan arches—three facing the street. The interior is ornate, with heart of pine floors; the doors and ceilings feature carved wood. The central element is a double staircase with a landing between.The structure was designed by Franklin W. Smith, who also constructed Villa Zorayda, his personal residence in St. Augustine, and the Casa Monica Hotel, which was sold to Henry Flagler.
