St. Mark Church Monastery also known as St. Mark's Monastery is a Serbian Orthodox Church monastery located in Sheffield, Ohio, now under the omophor of Bishop Irinej Dobrijević of the Serbian Orthodox Eparchy of Eastern America. The monastery church was initially modelled after the medieval Marko's Monastery in Skoplje in Northern Macedonia. Located just west of the monastery church is the St. Mark Church Cemetery. The patronal feast day of the monastery is 8 May (Julian calendar).St. Mark Serbian Orthodox Monastery is listed as one of the important American Orthodox monasteries. In 1985, a youth Camp opened at St. Mark Church Monastery at 1434 Lake Breeze Road in Sheffield, Ohio, which still continues with summer and winter activities.

Mercy Health Stadium is a baseball park in Avon, Ohio, United States. It is the home of the Lake Erie Crushers, a Frontier League team that began play in 2009. The ballpark has a capacity of 5,000 people and opened on June 2, 2009, with the Crushers defeating the Windy City Thunderbolts, 5-2. The ballpark was known as All Pro Freight Stadium until January 2017; Sprenger Stadium until December 2019; and Crushers Stadium in 2020. The team announced in November 2020 that beginning January 1, 2021, the facility will be known as Mercy Health Stadium after a deal was signed with Mercy Health, a Cincinnati-based healthcare provider that operates facilities around the state of Ohio, including two hospitals in the nearby communities of Lorain and Oberlin.

Ohio Assembly Plant, or "OHAP", is a Ford Motor Company factory located in Avon Lake, Ohio. The 3,700,000 square foot plant sits on 419 acres and opened in 1974 to produce the Ford Econoline/E-Series van. It produced the Mercury Villager and Nissan Quest from 1993 through 2002, and the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner until 2005. Ford E-Series van production stopped at the end of 2013 as Ford replaced the E-Series with the uni-body Ford Transit, which will be produced at Ford's facility in Kansas City, MO. The cutaway and strip chassis E-Series continues in production here for heavy duty applications. In Spring 2015, production of the Ford F-650 and F-750 began. In the summer of 2016, production of the 2017 F-350, F-450 and F-550 chassis cab began. As of 2017, the plant has over 1,700 employees.In 2017, Ohio Assembly received the coveted Q1 Quality Award for highest build quality off the assembly line.

103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Association Barracks is a registered historic building in Sheffield Lake, Ohio. It was listed in the National Register on July 14, 1978.The 103rd Ohio Infantry served during the American Civil War. Members of the 103rd Ohio Infantry built and used the barracks to hold reunions after the war.

St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church was a historic church at 2908 Wood Avenue in Lorain, Ohio.It was built in 1904 and added to the National Register in 1982. The church was closed in 2010 along with other local churches as part of a "reconfiguration" by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. Statues from the church were restored and later added to the Museum of Divine Statues in Lakewood, Ohio in April 2011.

Athletic teams are known as the Eagles and play in the Southwestern Conference as of the 2018–2019 school year. The current Avon High School opened in 1998, located on 37 acres of land on Detroit Road. The school is two stories tall and was built for 800 students with room to expand it for 1,600 students.
