Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) is a public university located in Vilnius, Lithuania. Lithuanian Space Science and Technology Institute (Lithuanian: Kosmoso mokslo ir technologijų institutas) is private research organization established by the Lithuanian Space Association in 2010, based in Vilnius, Lithuania.In 2013 LSSTI was one of the creators of one of the first two scientific nano-satellites in Lithuania, which were intended both for scientific tasks, technologies demonstrations, educational purposes and popularization of science. The satellite was successfully launched in 2014.LSSTI is a member of Neva Consortium.

Antakalnis Cemetery (Lithuanian: Antakalnio kapinės, Polish: Cmentarz na Antokolu, Belarusian: Антокальскія могілкі), sometimes referred as Antakalnis Military Cemetery, is an active cemetery in the Antakalnis district of Vilnius, Lithuania. It was established in 1809.

The General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania (Generolo Jono Žemaičio Lietuvos karo akademija) is a state-sponsored institution of higher learning based in Vilnius, Lithuania. It was founded in 1994 by the Lithuanian Seimas, and is overseen by the Ministry of National Defense. It is named in honor of General Jonas Žemaitis, commander of the armed anti-Soviet resistance in Lithuania.

Sapieha Palace (Lithuanian: Sapiegų rūmai, Polish: Pałac Sapiehów w Wilnie) is a High Baroque palace in Sapiegos str., Antakalnis district of Vilnius, Lithuania. It is the only surviving of several palaces formerly belonging to the Sapieha family in the city. The palace is surrounded by the remains of the 17th-century formal park, with parterres, ponds, and avenues. The impressive Baroque gate secures the entrance to the park from Antakalnis street and the other gate is on the opposite side of the park, near the palace. Both of them were restored in 2012.

The Church of Jesus the Redeemer (Lithuanian: Švč. Jėzaus Atpirkėjo bažnyčia) is a Roman Catholic church in the Antakalnis eldership in Vilnius, Lithuania. It was founded by the Lithuanian Grand Hetman and Voivode of Vilnius Jan Kazimierz Sapieha the Younger and the Trinitarians in 1694. Its architect is Pietro Perti, who is also the author of the nearby Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. The church, Trinitarians Monastery and the Sapieha Palace with its park formed a magnificent Baroque ensemble.

The Saulė Cemetery (Lithuanian: Saulės kapinės; transl. Sun Cemetery) is a cemetery in Antakalnis district of Vilnius, Lithuania. It is the old parish cemetery of the St. Peter and St. Paul Church and is the place of rest of many noble Poles and Lithuanians.

Vilnius Žirmūnai Gymnasium is a Lithuanian language gymnasium school located in Žirmūnai district of Vilnius, Lithuania. It used to be known as Vilnius Secondary School No. 7. The Gymnasium had 800 students in 2006. The school was granted the title Gymnasium in 2000; it is home to the brass band Septima, established in 1966.

Belmontas (originally Belmont) is a suburb of Vilnius. It is located in the area of Rasos, on the right bank of Vilnia River, to the east of Užupis. Originally a clearing in the woods surrounding the city of Vilna, it belonged to the municipal artillery units, along with the nearby cannon foundry (modern Pūčkoriai). In the 19th century a French emigrant built a flour mill on the spot and named it Belmont, possibly after one of several locations named Belmont in France. Abandoned, the mill was rebuilt in the early 2000s as a tourist attraction, a restaurant and a hotel.

The Kingdom of Lithuania was a failed attempt to create an independent constitutional Lithuanian monarchy. It was created towards the end of World War I when Lithuanian-speaking lands were under military occupation by the German Empire. The Council of Lithuania declared Lithuania's independence on 16 February 1918, but the council was unable to form a government, police, or other state institutions due to the continued presence of German troops. The Germans presented various proposals to incorporate Lithuania into the German Empire, particularly Prussia. The Lithuanians resisted this idea and hoped to preserve their independence by creating a separate constitutional monarchy. On 4 June 1918, they voted to offer the Lithuanian throne to the German noble Wilhelm Karl, Duke of Urach. He accepted the offer in July 1918 and took the regnal name Mindaugas II. However, he never visited Lithuania. His election stirred up controversy, divided the council and did not achieve the desired results. As Germany was losing the war and was engulfed in the German Revolution, Lithuania suspended its decision to invite the Duke on 2 November 1918, thereby ending his reign.
