High Spy

Dale Head is a fell in the north-western sector of the Lake District, in northern England. It is 753 metres or 2,470 foot above sea level and stands immediately north of Honister Pass, the road between Borrowdale and Buttermere.

Maiden Moor is a fell in the English Lake District, it stands 6 km (3+3⁄4 miles) south of the town of Keswick and is part of the high ground that separates the Newlands Valley and Borrowdale, it has a modest height of 576 m (1,890 ft) and so fails to be mentioned on many UK mountain lists but it does have a separate chapter in Alfred Wainwright’s Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells.

Castle Crag is a hill in the North Western Fells of the English Lake District. It is the smallest hill included in Alfred Wainwright's influential Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells, the only Wainwright below 1,000 feet (300 m). Wainwright accorded Castle Crag the status of a separate fell because it "is so magnificently independent, so ruggedly individual, so aggressively unashamed of its lack of inches, that less than justice would be done by relegating it to a paragraph in the High Spy chapter." Subsequent guidebooks have not always agreed: Castle Crag is one of only two Wainwrights not included in Bill Birkett's Complete Lakeland Fells.

The Honister Slate Mine in Cumbria is the last working slate mine in England. Quarrying for Westmorland green slate has been taking place in the area since 1728. Apart from the mining it is also a popular tourist attraction in the Lake District National Park.

Seatoller is a settlement in Borrowdale in the English Lake District. Historically part of Cumberland, it lies on the B5289 road at the east foot of the Honister Pass, and to the south of Derwent Water. The nearest town to Seatoller is Keswick, which is situated approximately 7 miles (11 km) to the north. Seatoller was the destination of a regular walkers bus in the 1960s and 1970s which left Carlisle each Sunday at 07:30 giving access by public transport into the heart of the lakes. The hamlet consists of a farmhouse, two bed and breakfasts, a tea shop and two rows of cottages.

Scope Beck is a minor river in the county of Cumbria in England. The beck runs through Little Dale, a valley between the mountains of Hindscarth (to the east) and Robinson, in a north north easterly direction. The beck is fed by Deep Gill, which runs east from Burnt Crags, and two streams from Littledale Edge. Scope Beck itself surrenders its waters to Newlands Beck south of Chapel Bridge.

Hindscarth is a mountain between the valleys of Buttermere and Newlands, in the north-western part of the English Lake District. The fell's name is derived from two words from the Old Norse language, Hind and Skarth, and means the pass used by the red deer.

Stonethwaite Beck is a minor river in Cumbria, England. It is a tributary of the River Derwent. Stonethwaite Beck is formed at the confluence of Langstrath Beck and Greenup Gill beneath Eagle Crag, at Smithymire Island. It continues north west and north through Galleny Force, past the villages of Stonethwaite and Rosthwaite, flowing into the Derwent in Borrowdale.

Newlands Church is a 16th-century church situated less than 500 metres west of the hamlet of Little Town, Cumbria, England in the Newlands Valley of the Lake District. Its exact date of origin is unknown, but a map of 1576 shows a "Newlande Chap." on the site. The church exterior presents white-washed roughcast walls and a green slate roof; the interior displays two stained glass windows, a gallery, and a reading desk and a pulpit dated 1610. Tourists and hillwalkers visit on their way to the fells. The church is a Grade II listed building.

Grange, often called Grange in Borrowdale, is a village in Borrowdale in the English Lake District. It lies just off the B5289 road to the south of Derwent Water and 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Keswick, in the county of Cumbria, historically part of Cumberland,Historically part of Cumberland, the village is overlooked by Grange Fell and Castle Crag, which flank either side of the narrow section of Borrowdale in which it sits. Its origins date back to medieval times, when the monks of Furness Abbey built a monastic grange on the site. The double-arched bridge that links the village to the B5289 across the River Derwent was built in 1675. Holy Trinity Church followed in 1861.The novelist Hugh Walpole owned Brackenburn, a large house about 1 mile (1.6 km) to the north of Grange, and lived there from 1924 until his death in 1941.

Little Town is a hamlet in the civil parish of Above Derwent, in the Allerdale district of Cumbria, England. It is in the Workington constituency of the United Kingdom Parliament. Prior to Brexit in 2020 it was part of the North West England constituency of the European Parliament.Little Town is in the Lake District National Park. It is in the Newlands Valley, separated from Derwent Water to the east by the summit of Catbells. The hamlet is about 5.5 miles (9 km) by road from Keswick.

Keskadale Beck is a minor river of Cumbria, England. The beck rises at the confluence of High Hole Beck (which rises beneath Robinson Crags) and Moss Beck (from Buttermere Moss). From there, Keskadale Beck flows north east, picking up Dudmanscomb Gill (running north from Robinson). Ill Gill joins near Keskadale Farm. The beck joins Newlands Beck opposite Little Town.
