Tondiarpet metro station

Kasimedu is a hamlet in the neighbourhood of Royapuram, in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu state in the peninsular India. This hamlet is occupied by fishermen whose families depend on the fishing harbour and the fish market nearby. It stretches for about 2 km, near Ennore fishing harbour along the shore, north of Chennai Port. Large numbers of victims from Kasimedu fishing community were found during the tsunami observed on 26 December 2004. Kasimedu is located at about 5 km from Chennai Beach railway station. Near about 200 tons of fishes are brought to Kasimedu, daily. State Highway 114 (Ennore Express road) passes through Kasimedu.

Diesel Loco Shed, Tondiarpet is a motive power depot performing locomotive maintenance and repair facility for diesel locomotives of the Indian Railways. It is located near Tondiarpet railway station (TNP) of the Southern Railway zone in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu and is one of the four diesel loco sheds of the Southern Railway, the others being at Ernakulam (ERS) at Kochi, Erode (ED) and Golden Rock (GOC) at Trichy.

Royapuram fishing harbour, also known as Chennai fishing harbour or Kasimedu fishing harbour, is one of the major fishing grounds for catching fishes and crustaceans located at Kasimedu in the Royapuram area of Chennai, India. The harbour is located north of the Chennai Port and is under the administrative control of the Chennai Port Trust. The harbour is also a shipbuilding facility, chiefly building fishing boats. The nearest railway station is the Royapuram Railway Station. The harbour can accommodate 575 fishing boats, and by 2013 the number of boats has gone up to 1,395.

It is located north of Parrys Corner and adjacent to Royapuram. Washermanpet is famous for its jewelry shops and matchbox industries, many of which are centered on two main arterial roads.
