Mombaccus Mountain is located in the Catskill Mountains of New York. To the south, it looms over the hamlet of Samsonville in the town of Olive. Together with Little Rocky and South Mountain, Mombaccus Mountain is part of a massif dominated by Ashokan High Point. Below its north slope is the Kanape Brook trail, an old wagon road that leads to a saddle between Mombaccus and Ashokan High Point. Big Rosy Bone Knob, a lesser summit, lies southwest of Mombaccus Mountain. According to historian DeWitt Davis, Mombaccus was "noted for huckleberries and bears" and bear traps were dug on its slopes.The placename Mombaccus ("mask of Bacchus" in Greek), was given by Dutch settlers to the area now known as the town of Rochester. It was inspired by a carving of a face (likely the Algonkan bear god Maysingwey) found on a sycamore tree where Rochester Creek (formerly known as Mombaccus Creek) enters Rondout Creek Today, Mombaccus is used as the name of a hamlet within Rochester on County Route 3 and for a tributary of Rochester Creek. The name Mombaccus was not given to the mountain until much later. When the town of Olive was formed, the area south of Mombaccus was known as "Subbeatty Land" and old deeds for properties on its slopes still refer to it as "Subbeatty Mountain."

Common School No. 10 is a historic one-room school building located in Accord in Ulster County, New York. It is a 1-story, two-by-three-bay, frame building on a fieldstone foundation built about 1870. It is topped by a gable roof with an open belfry. It operated as a school until 1955. Also on the property is a privy, shed, and well with hand pump.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.Now known as Palentown School House Museum, the school is open twice a year and by appointment.

Named, like Palenville in Greene County, for a family that ran tanneries in the Catskills in the mid-19th century, Palentown is situated inside the Catskill Park in the northwest part of the town of Rochester. Palentown is located off Ulster County Route 3 (Samsonville Road) just south of the Rochester-Olive town line. The hamlet is northeast of the nearby hamlet of Riggsville and south of the Olive hamlet of Samsonville. It is within the Kerhonkson, New York ZIP Code.

Ashokan High Point is a 3,081 feet (939 m) summit in the Catskill Mountains of New York. High Point is the loftiest part of a massif that includes the adjacent Mombaccus Mountain, Little Rocky and South Mountain. The summit can be accessed via the Kanape Brook Trail, which ascends from Ulster County Road 42 to the saddle between High Point and Mombaccus. This trail, named for 19th-century farmer John Canape, was formerly a wagon track connected to the present-day Freeman Avery Road on the south side of the mountain, providing a route between Watson Hollow and Samsonville in the days of the Catskills tanneries. The Gazetteer and Business Directory of Ulster County, N. Y. For 1871-2 referred to the peak as "Shokan Point". It was also known as "Samson," after the Catskill tannery owner for whom Samsonville was named, and is so identified on a 1942 United States Coast and Geodetic Survey benchmark at the summit. Nowadays, Samson Mountain is the name given to a nearby peak above the upper reaches of Rondout Creek. A lesser summit below the main peak affords an expansive view of the area. It has been called "Little Ashokan," "Round Mountain," "Ashokan Cobble" or "Samson's Nose").

Krumville (also Kromville) is a hamlet in the southeastern corner of the town of Olive in Ulster County, New York, United States. It takes its name from one of the most prominent of the early Dutch families who settled the area. Krumville is bordered on the northwest by the Olive hamlet of Samsonville, on the north by the hamlet of Olivebridge, on the southeast by the town of Marbletown and on the southwest by the town of Rochester. It lies at an elevation of 774 feet (236 m) above sea level. The major commercial business in Krumville is the Country Inn, a bed-and-breakfast/restaurant in what was once known as the Deer Park Falls House, a long-time boarding house and inn. The Deer Park (or Deerhaven) is a long, low gorge that drains into Beaver Lake and Beaverdam Creek below the Deer Park Falls. The center of the hamlet is the intersection of Ulster County Route 2, which connects Kripplebush and Samsonville, and County Route 2A, also known as the Krumville Road or Krumville-Davis Corners Road. The Krumville Reformed Church was located nearby. The building was originally located in Samsonville but was taken down and rebuilt in Krumville in 1873. That church burned down in 1946. The former Krumville schoolhouse was converted into a replacement church dedicated in 1955. The church conducted its final service in 2011.Krumville once had its own Post Office but is now included in the Olivebridge ZIP Code, 12461. The U.S. Postal Service, however, still considers Krumville to be an "acceptable" city address within that ZIP.Krumville is mentioned in Spalding Gray's Swimming to Cambodia and Terrors of Pleasure. It also is the song title of one of the tracks on Oneohtrix Point Never's 2023 album Again.

Big Rosy Bone Knob is a mountain located in the Catskill Mountains of New York southwest of West Shokan. Little Rocky is located north-northeast, and Steiny Hill is located south of Big Rosy Bone Knob.

South Mountain, 2,185 feet in elevation, is a lesser summit in the New York Catskill Mountains massif that includes Ashokan High Point, Mombaccus Mountain and Little Rocky. Its northwest slope descends to Watson Hollow, its southwest slope to South Hollow and its eastern side rises above High Point Mountain Road in the Olive hamlet of West Shokan. Following a 2005 court ruling against the town of Olive, a prominently visible cell phone tower was erected on a patch of private property on the ridge north of the South Mountain summit.
