El Corte de Madera Open Space Preserve is a 2,908-acre (1,177 ha) open space preserve in San Mateo County, California.

The Mountain House is a restaurant located in King's Mountain, Woodside, California. Initially established over a century ago hosting a variety of community roles, it has been featured in a plethora of music video clips by prominent artists mostly due to its unique location inside a redwood forest.

Skeggs Point is a scenic turnout in San Mateo County along State Route 35 between Kings Mountain and State Route 84. The feature is marked with a guide sign along the road and is listed on the USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle, "Woodside, California" as well as in the National Geographic Names Database. The area is about three miles (five kilometers) west and 2,000 feet (600 m) above the town of Woodside. If not for the vegetation, there would be a panoramic view of the San Francisco Bay south of Candlestick Park, (a.k.a. Monster Park, 3Com Park) (Candlestick Park was demolished in 2015). Skeggs Point is about 2,300 feet (700 m) above mean sea level, (AMSL). NAD83 coordinates for the location are 37°24′39″N 122°18′20″W. The USGS shows a benchmark of 2,315 ft (706 m) at the vista point. A peak named Sierra Morena (elevation 2,417 ft or 737 m) is a prominent local feature about 100 feet (30 m) west of the Skeggs Point turn-out. One of the highest points in San Mateo County (according to U.S. Geological Survey maps), Sierra Morena is closed to the public because of communication antennas and microwave equipment. Land along the roadway is largely owned by a Special District, the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District.

The Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is located on the western slopes of historic Kings Mountain in Woodside, California. This 4,471-acre (1,809 ha) preserve was established with a $2 million gift from the Save the Redwoods League. Purisima Creek and several of its tributaries flow through the preserve. The main entrance for the Purisima Open Space is off the Skyline Boulevard section of State Route 35. The park is notable for its tall coastal redwoods, along with coastal scrub and hardwood forests of tanoak, madrones, and Douglas firs. The preserve overlooks Half Moon Bay, and has over 21 miles (34 km) of trails for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. The popular Redwood Trail is wheelchair accessible. Like many parks in California, dogs are not allowed. The preserve is home to many species of animals, including bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes and rabbits. The Purisima Open Space is part of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, spanning over 50,000 acres (200 km2) in the San Francisco Bay Area. Parking is available at the main entrance, 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south of Highway 92 on Skyline Boulevard.

Rancho Cañada de Raymundo was a 12,545-acre (50.77 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day San Mateo County, California given August 4, 1840 to Raimundo (also known as Raymundo), a native of Baja California, who was sent out by the padres of Mission Santa Clara to capture runaway Mission Indians in 1797. On the 1856 Rancho de las Pulgas and 1868 Easton maps, the valley of Laguna Creek was referred to as the Cañada de Raymundo. Laguna Creek was also alternatively known as Cañada Raimundo Creek. In 1841 Rancho Cañada de Raymundo was granted to John Coppinger by Governor Juan Alvarado for helping in the revolt led by Alvarado against the Mexican authorities in Monterey. The two and one half league long by three-quarter league wide grant consisted the eastern slopes and valleys in the present-day Woodside area. The grant began at Alambique Creek, the north border of Rancho Corte de Madera, and extended north to Rancho Feliz. Rancho Cañada de Raymundo was bounded on the east by Rancho de las Pulgas. The rancho contained Laguna Grande (absorbed by Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir), then a natural lake that was the campsite of the Portolà expedition on November 5, 1769, and was bisected by Laguna Creek, which flowed from southeast to northwest through the lake on its way to San Mateo Creek.

The Phleger Estate is a park in San Mateo County, California, United States. The park is located outside the town of Woodside and adjacent to Huddart County Park. The park was acquired in 1991 by the Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) for $25 million and is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA).

San Mateo County ( SAN mə-TAY-oh), officially the County of San Mateo, is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 764,442. Redwood City is the county seat, and the third most populated city following Daly City and San Mateo. San Mateo County is included in the San Francisco–Oakland–Berkeley, CA MSA (metropolitan statistical area), Silicon Valley, and is part of the San Francisco Bay Area, the nine counties bordering San Francisco Bay. It covers most of the San Francisco Peninsula. San Francisco International Airport is located in the northeastern area of the county and is approximately 7 miles (11 km) south of the city and county limits of San Francisco, even though the airport itself is assigned a San Francisco postal address. The Woodside Store also called Tripp Store, sits at 3300 Tripp Road at Kings Mountain Road, Woodside, San Mateo County, California. This building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1985 and is listed as a California Historical Landmark in San Mateo County since 1949. It was preserved through the efforts of the San Mateo Historical Association in the 1940s. After being taken under the wing of the Association in 1979, it was subject to a substantial restoration during the mid-1980s, which was completed by 1994.
