Cosseria

Cengio (Ligurian: Ceng or Çengio; Piedmontese: Cengg) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Savona in the Italian region Liguria, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) west of Genoa and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) northwest of Savona. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,744 and an area of 18.8 square kilometres (7.3 sq mi). Cengio borders the following municipalities: Cairo Montenotte, Cosseria, Millesimo, Montezemolo, Roccavignale, and Saliceto.

Millesimo borders the following municipalities: Cengio, Cosseria, Murialdo, Osiglia, Pallare, Plodio, and Roccavignale. It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").

Roccavignale borders the following municipalities: Castelnuovo di Ceva, Cengio, Millesimo, Montezemolo, and Murialdo.

Bormida (Ligurian: Bormia or Burmia; Piedmontese: Bormia), with a population of 453 spread over an area of 22.4 square kilometres (8.6 sq mi), is a rural municipality of the Province of Savona in the Italian region Liguria. The municipality is a member of the Comunità Montana Alta Val Bormida. On May 11, 2017 it was reported that due to a declining population the town's mayor Daniele Galliano recommended a proposal to the Ligurian regional government, and not a confirmed measure, but that it hopes to enact the bonus in 2018 of offering €2,000 ($2,175) and very low rents starting at $50 per month for anyone willing to move there.

Osiglia (Ligurian and Piedmontese: Oseria) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Savona in the Italian region Liguria, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) west of Genoa and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) west of Savona. Osiglia borders the following municipalities: Bormida, Calizzano, Millesimo, Murialdo, Pallare, and Rialto.

Mallare (Ligurian: Molre, locally Malle; Piedmontese: Mälre) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Savona in the Italian region Liguria, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southwest of Genoa and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) west of Savona. Mallare borders the following municipalities: Altare, Bormida, Calice Ligure, Carcare, Orco Feglino, Pallare, and Quiliano.

The Battle of Dego took place on September 21, 1794, in present-day Italy, during the War of the First Coalition. The battle was fought between French and Austrian armies resulting in a French victory. The battle is notable for being described in Napoleon's correspondence, as he was present at the battle. The Austrian army attempted to seize Savona, but were checked by the French at Dego. The French plan of battle was drawn up by General of Artillery Napoleon Bonaparte. The commander-in-chief of the French forces, Pierre Jadart Dumerbion, reported the victory to the French government, writing of Bonaparte's involvement, "It is to the ability of the General of Artillery that I owe the clever combinations which have secured our success." The French did not follow up on this success, due to the grand strategy of the French government for a defensive war.

Colle di Cadibona - 436 m (1,430 ft) - is a mountain pass between Savona and Altare in the Ligurian Alps, delineating the boundary with the Apennine Mountains. It is also known as Bocchetta di Altare. On the south-eastern side of the Alps Godovič Pass (Slovenia) conventionally represents the opposite end of the Alpine range.

The Battle of Monte Settepani (24 June–7 July 1795) saw the Coalition armies of Habsburg Austria led by Feldzeugmeister (FZM) Joseph Nikolaus de Vins and the Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont led by Feldmarschall-Leutnant (FML) Michelangelo Alessandro Colli-Marchi attack the Republican French Army of Italy led by General of Division (GD) François Christophe de Kellermann during the War of the First Coalition. The attack captured a few key positions though it was repulsed by most of the French defenses. After the French failed to recapture Monte Settepani, Kellermann ordered a phased withdrawal to a more defensible position. By 7 July, the French army established itself in a new position running from Borghetto Santo Spirito on the coast northwest to the crest of the Ligurian Alps. The setback compelled the French to relinquish the territory captured in the First Battle of Dego.
