Tibbermuir railway station

Tibbermore is a small village situated about 4 miles (6 kilometres) west of Perth, Scotland. The parish extends to Aberuthven. Previously known as Tippermuir, it was the site of the Battle of Tippermuir in 1644, between the Marquis of Montrose's army and an army of Covenanters. The church building, dating from 1632 and enlarged in 1789 is in a poor state of repair. Restoration was being considered in 2007. The church building is now only used occasionally for weddings and funerals. Tibbermore has several listed buildings.

The Battle of Tippermuir (also known as the Battle of Tibbermuir) (1 September 1644) was the first battle James Graham, 1st Marquis of Montrose, fought for King Charles I in the Scottish theatre of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. During the battle, Montrose's Royalist forces routed an army of the Covenanter-dominated Scottish government under John Wemyss, Lord Elcho. The government side took heavy losses. The battlefield is presently inventoried and protected by Historic Environment Scotland under the Scottish Historical Environment Policy of 2009.

Royal Air Force Methven, or more simply RAF Methven, was a World War 2 Royal Air Force Satellite Landing Ground (SLG) located 1.6 miles (2.6 km) south east of Methven, Perth and Kinross, Scotland and 4.1 miles (6.6 km) west of Perth, Perth and Kinross.

Methven Castle is a privately owned 17th-century house situated east of Methven, in Perth and Kinross, Scotland.

Almondbank railway station served the village of Almondbank, in the Scottish county of Perth and Kinross.

Almondbank is a village in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, about 4+1⁄2 miles (7 kilometres) northwest of Perth. With the building of Royal Naval Aircraft Workshops, Almondbank grew significantly during and after the Second World War.

Pitcairngreen (pronounced 'Pit-cairn Green') is a hamlet in the Scottish council area of Perth and Kinross which is more or less adjoined to the much larger village of Almondbank. It lies 4 miles (6 kilometres) northwest of Perth. As its name would suggest, two features of the settlement are a green and a cairn. In the 18th century the nearby River Almond was used to power textile mills and the local nobleman Lord Lynedoch created the village to provide housing for mill workers. The village's layout was designed in 1786 to have a green at the centre of it by James Stobie, a factor to John Murray, the 4th Duke of Atholl. The presence of a village green is unusual for a Scottish village as these are more commonly associated with traditional English villages. Stobie designed Pitcairngreen to be an industrial textile manufacturing village for Thomas Graham, a textile manufacturer. Its rivalry with the Manchester textile factories is set out in the poem "The Scottish Village, or Pitcairngreen" by Hannah Cowley which starts with the lines: "Go Manchester and weep thy slighted loom its arts are cherished now in Pitcairne Green."There is a prehistoric burial cairn to the north-east of the village which is made from boulders from the River Almond.

Methven Junction railway station opened in 1866, following the extension of the already existing Perth, Almond Valley and Methven Railway line which terminated in the village of Methven to the north. This new line, operated by the Crieff and Methven Junction Railway continued westwards from this junction through Balgowan, Madderty, Abercairney, Innerpeffray and finally, Crieff. Following the closure of Methven Station on 27 September 1937, Methven Junction was renamed 'Methven Junction Halt' until its own closure as a passenger station on 1 October 1951.

Methven (; Scottish Gaelic: Meadhainnigh) is a large village in the Scottish region of Perth and Kinross, on the A85 road due west of the city of Perth. It is near the village of Almondbank. The village has its own primary school, church, bowling club, community halls, playing field with sports facilities and skate-park, and a variety of businesses. There is a local primary school in the village, and a large co-educational boarding and day independent school nearby, called Glenalmond College, described by The Good Schools Guide as providing an "outstanding" quality of education.

Huntingtower and Ruthvenfield is a village in Perthshire, Scotland, on the River Almond, 3 miles (5 kilometres) northwest of Perth. Bleaching, the chief industry, dated from 1774, when the bleaching-field was formed. By means of an old aqueduct, said to have been built by the Romans, it was provided with water from the River Almond, the properties of which rendered it especially suited for bleaching. Bleaching (by chemicals under cover, not with bleach fields) continued Huntingtower until 1981. Huntingtower Castle, a once formidable structure, was the scene of the Raid of Ruthven (pron. Rivven), when the Protestant lords, headed by William, 4th Lord Ruthven and 1st Earl of Gowrie (c.1541–1584), kidnapped the boy-king James VI, on August 22, 1582. The earl's sons were slain in the attempt (known as the Gowrie conspiracy) to capture James VI (1600), consequent on which the Scots parliament ordered the name of Ruthven to be abolished, and the barony to be known in future as Huntingtower. The Ruthven name and reputation was re-established in 1651, by Sir Thomas Ruthven, for service too the Crown. The source of the 4.5 mi (7.2 km)-long Perth Lade is just west of the village, at Low's Work weir on the River Almond.

The Battle of Methven took place at Methven, Scotland on 19 June 1306, during the Wars of Scottish Independence. The battlefield was researched to be included in the Inventory of Historic Battlefields in Scotland and protected by Historic Scotland under the Scottish Historical Environment Policy of 2009, but was excluded due to the uncertainty of its location.

Methven railway station served the village of Methven, Perth and Kinross, Scotland and was located between the city of Perth to the east and the town of Crieff to its west. It was the western terminus of the Perth, Almond Valley and Methven Railway line and opened on 1 January 1858.
