Johnson Square is one of the 22 squares of Savannah, Georgia, United States. Located in the northernmost row of the city's five rows of squares, it was the first of the squares to be laid out, in 1733, and remains the largest of the 22. It is east of Ellis Square, west of Reynolds Square and north of Wright Square. Situated on Bull Street and St. Julian Street, it is named for Robert Johnson, colonial governor of South Carolina and a friend of General James Oglethorpe. The oldest building on the square is the Ann Hamilton House, at 26 East Bryan Street, which dates to 1824.Interred under his monument in the square is Revolutionary War hero General Nathanael Greene, the namesake of nearby Greene Square. Greene died in 1786 and was buried in Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery. His son was buried beside him after drowning in the Savannah River in 1793. Following vandalism of the cemetery by occupying Union forces during the Civil War the location of Greene's burial was lost. After the remains were re-identified Greene and his son were moved to Johnson Square. An obelisk in the center of the square now serves as a memorial to General Greene. The cornerstone of the monument was laid by Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, in 1825. At that time the obelisk did not yet commemorate any specific individual or event. In fact, due to financial restrictions the unmarked obelisk served for several years as a joint monument to both Greene and Casimir Pulaski. Inscriptions honoring Greene were added in 1886, but the Greenes’ physical remains did not arrive until 1901, following their "rediscovery."Johnson Square contains two fountains, as well as a sundial.Another landmark of Johnson Square is the Johnson Square Business Center. This building, formerly known as the Savannah Bank Building, was the city's first "skyscraper", built in 1911. Johnson Square is known as the financial district, or banking square, and many of the City's financial services companies are located here. These companies include the Savannah Bancorp, Savannah Bank, Coastal Bank Headquarters, Bank of America branch, SunTrust branch, TitleMax Corporate Headquarters, and a Regions Bank building. Christ Church Episcopal occupies the southeastern trust lot of the square at 28 Bull Street. Christ Church is "the Mother Church of Georgia", established in 1733. Early clergy of the church include John Wesley and George Whitefield.

The Ann Hamilton House is a historic home in Savannah, Georgia, United States. It is located at 24–26 East Bryan Street in the northeastern tything block of Johnson Square, the city's oldest square. Completed in 1824, it is now the oldest extant building on the square. It is part of the Savannah Historic District.The home was built by Amos Scudder for Ann Hamilton.

Christ Church is an Episcopal church at 28 Bull Street, Johnson Square, in Savannah, Georgia. Founded in 1733, it was the first church established in the Province of Georgia and one of the first parishes within the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, earning it the nickname "the Mother Church of Georgia". The present church building was constructed in 1838 and is located in the Savannah Historic District.

The U.S. Customhouse is a historic custom house located in Savannah in Chatham County, Georgia. It was built to house offices of the United States Customs Service.

Located a block south of the Savannah River in the Savannah Historic District, the building dates from 1821.In 1984, the significance of the building was recognized by the Historical American Buildings Survey. That same year, architectural students of the Savannah College of Art and Design determined that William Jay was the building's architect.

9 Drayton Street is a historic building in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Located in the northeastern residential/tything block of Johnson Square, part of the Savannah Historic District, the building dates from 1853.It was built for George Wayne Anderson and later owned by Confederate Army veteran Edward Clifford Anderson Jr. and officer George Mercer.The building, which has an angled entrance at Drayton and East Bay Lane, is believed to be the oldest continuously operated saloon and restaurant in the city. An oyster bar and public house stood on the same site from 1850 and possibly earlier.During and after the Civil War, it served as an office building and restaurant. It also has a connection to the Wanderer slave-ship scandal. Charles Lamar, mastermind of the scheme, had offices next door in the Bank of Commerce building. Richard F. Aiken, his co-conspirator, operated a bar, named the "Gem", from 9 Drayton Street after the war.

The Thomas Gibbons Range is a building in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Now comprising eight properties, it is located on West Congress Street, in the southeastern civic block of Ellis Square in Savannah's City Market. Built in 1820, it is the oldest building on the square, and the oldest operating commercial building in Savannah. It is part of the Savannah Historic District, and was built, towards the end of his life, for Thomas Gibbons (1757–1826), a planter, politician, lawyer, steamboat owner and the plaintiff in Gibbons vs. Ogden. The building was erected by his son William. Gibbons had owned the lot since 1809.In 1943, Frank C. Mathews purchased the property at number 116, where he established Mathews Seafood. The following year, he purchased the adjacent number 114, and a local signmaker was commissioned to make a neon fish sign for the restaurant now known as Sorry Charlie's Oyster Bar. The sign became a popular landmark, and the Historic Savannah Foundation designated it a historic artifact. (This is not the sign on the building today.) Sorry Charlie's expanded again, into 112 West Congress Street, in 2018.The Lady & Sons, a restaurant owned by Paula Deen, has occupied number 102, at the Whitaker Street end of the building, since 1996.

The Thomas Gamble Building, formerly known as the Eugene Kelly Stores, Kelly's Block and Kelly's Building, is a historic building in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Located in Savannah's Historic District, between Upper Stoddard Range to the east, Savannah City Hall to the south and the Hyatt Regency Savannah to the west, the addresses of some of the properties are East Bay Street, above Factors Walk, while Olympia Cafe occupies the former King Cotton warehouses on the River Street elevation. The building was constructed in 1877, by W. G. Butler, replacing the 1869 Eugene Kelly Stores, designed by Muller & Bruyn but which burned in 1876. Shortly after the fire, Kelly, a millionaire from New York, stated that he intended to rebuild, naming it "Kelly's Stores 2". To match the Bay Street frontage, the River Street façade was given a stucco finish in 1883, under the supervision of Bernard Goode.Several prominent Savannah companies were located in Kelly's Block for many years, including the John Flannery Co., which moved into the building upon its rebuilding was completed in 1877. Purse Printing & Paper Co. occupied space in the property for over sixty years.After the death of Kelly in 1894, his family maintained the property until 1907, at which point it was sold to New York's Temple Court Company, owned by Eugene's son, Thomas Hughes Kelly.The Temple Court Company sold the rear half of Wharf Lot 9, which contained the structure of Kelly's Block. Thomas rented another part of the building to the City of Savannah, before selling the entire building to the city in June 1943.The building was renamed in 1945 for Thomas Gamble, Savannah's mayor between 1933 and 1937 and 1938 until his death in 1945.

Hyatt Regency Savannah is a high-rise hotel in Savannah, Georgia. Built in 1980, it stands adjacent to Savannah City Hall at Bay Street's downtown midsection. Originally envisioned as a 14-story structure in Savannah's Historic District, a long battle with the Historic Savannah Foundation concluded with a compromise being reached of its being limited to six storeys. Another source of controversy is that it bridged River Street, physically dividing the waterfront in two, although the air rights were actually a remnant of the preceding structure, the Wilcox and Gibbs Guano Company. A tunnel allows pedestrian and vehicle access along the street.

The Olde Pink House (also known as The Pink House and, formerly, Habersham House) is a restaurant and tavern in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Located on Abercorn Street, in the northwestern trust lot of Reynolds Square, the building dates from 1771. It is bounded by East Bryan Street to the north, Abercorn Street to the east and East Saint Julian Street to the south. One of its key features is a Palladian window above the portico. The property sits directly across East Saint Julian Street from the Oliver Sturges House, which was constructed 24 years later.
