Cavallerleone

Cavallermaggiore is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) south of Turin and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northeast of Cuneo. Cavallermaggiore borders the following municipalities: Bra, Cavallerleone, Cherasco, Marene, Monasterolo di Savigliano, Racconigi, Ruffia, Sanfrè, Savigliano, and Sommariva del Bosco.

The Church of San Giovanni Battista, while only a parish church in Racconigi, Italy, because of its size, it is considered the duomo of the town. A church at the site is documented from the 14th century. It was reconstructed in the 18th century by the architect Francesco Gallo, with interior quadratura decoration by Pietro Antonio Pozzo and Giuseppe Dallamano. The altar statuary were carved by Carlo Giuseppe Plura and Stefano Maria Clemente. The main altarpiece is by Claudio Francesco Beaumont. The church gallery has a painting by Carlo Sismonda.

As of January 2017, it had a population of 1,373 and an area of 14.91 square kilometres (5.76 sq mi). Monasterolo di Savigliano borders the following municipalities: Cavallermaggiore, Ruffia, Savigliano, and Scarnafigi. The town originated from a castle built here by Thomas I of Saluzzo in 1241.

The municipality of Villanova Solaro contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Vernetto and Airali. Villanova Solaro borders the following municipalities: Moretta, Murello, Ruffia, Scarnafigi, and Torre San Giorgio.
