The Green Cove Springs Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on March 28, 1991) located in Green Cove Springs, Florida. The district is bounded by Bay Street, CSX RR tracks, Center Street, Orange Avenue, St. Elmo Street and St. Johns Road. It contains 78 historic buildings and 1 structure.

Green Cove Springs is a city in and the county seat of Clay County, Florida, United States. Green Cove Springs is a part of the Jacksonville, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 9,786 at the 2020 census, up from 6,908 at the 2010 census. The city is named after the portion of the St. Johns River upon which it is built. The river bends here, and the area is sheltered by trees that are perennially green.

The Clay County Historical Society Museum is located in Green Cove Springs, Clay County, Florida. It is located in a former train depot. Exhibits include railroad memorabilia, a country kitchen display and a country store display. It is operated by the Clay County Historical Society. The museum is located at 915 Walnut Street in the Historical Triangle which also includes the 1896 county jail and 1890 courthouse at Walnut Street and Ferris Street (Hwy 16).

The Clay County Historic Courthouse is a historic county courthouse in Green Cove Springs, Florida. The two-story brick building was built in 1889 and used until 1973. A historical marker commemorates its history. It is located at 915 Walnut Street as part of the county's Historic Triangle which includes the Clay County History Museum, Railroad Depot Display, Old County Jail and Archives Center. On June 20, 1975, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It was designed by Ellis and McClure. This historic location is home to Clay County Teen Court programs and is a venue for events such as mock trials, plays, swearing-in ceremonies, photo shoots and tours. The modern, fully operational Clay County Courthouse is a separate facility located at 825 North Orange Avenue in Green Cove Springs. Employees of the Clay County Clerk's Office (Clay County Clerk of Court Tara S. Green) oversee the operations of both locations' offices.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church is an historic Carpenter Gothic church located at 400 St. Johns Avenue in Green Cove Springs, Florida. On February 17, 1978, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Naval Air Station Lee Field was a United States Navy air base that opened on September 11, 1940, in Green Cove Springs, Florida to support the World War II efforts. The Air Station was on the St. Johns River in Clay County, Florida. The Air Station and Navy base was on 1,560 acres. The US Navy and United States Marine Corps used the site to train pilots on four 5,000-foot (1,500 m) asphalt runways. The Grumman F6F Hellcat fighter plane was the most common plane use at the Navy Air Station. The Vought F4U Corsair was a common plane for the Marine Corps training. The base was named after Ensign Bejamin Lee, who was killed during World War I in a plane crash at Killinghome, England. Naval Air Station Lee Field was renamed Naval Air Station Green Cove Springs in August 1943. After the war, Naval Air Station Green Cove Springs was reorganized into a Naval Auxiliary Air Station (NAAS) of Naval Air Station Jacksonville. The Naval Auxiliary Air Station closed in June 1962.

Clay High School is a four-year high school located in Green Cove Springs, Florida. It is a part of the Clay County School District.

Black Creek is a tributary of the St. Johns River in Clay County, Florida. It is formed by the confluence of North Fork Black Creek and South Fork Black Creek. North Fork Black Creek originates as an outflow from Kingsley Lake and flows north and then southeast, meeting South Fork Black Creek on the east side of MIddleburg. North Fork Black Creek has Yellow Water Creek as its main tributary. South Fork Black Creek originates in a chain of lakes about four miles south of Kingsley Lake, with Ates Creek, Bull Creek, and Greens Creek as its main tributaries. Both forks are fed by areas of wetlands and numerous small streams.

The Clay County Fairgrounds, officially known as the Paul E. Reinhold Agricultural Fairgrounds, are fairgrounds located in Green Cove Springs, in Clay County, Florida, United States. Located on 28 acres (110,000 m2) first donated to the county by Paul and Klare Reinhold in 1972, the site hosts the annual Clay County Agricultural Fair, which was first held in 1987. The fairgrounds contain several indoor and outdoor venues, one of which was the intended home to the Green Cove Lions of the National Indoor Football League in 2007.

The Shands Bridge is a two-lane automobile bridge carrying SR 16 over the St. Johns River south of Jacksonville, Florida.

Virginia Village is an unincorporated community in Clay County, Florida, United States. It is located along US 17 at the intersection with Clay CR 226, and has an airstrip named Haller Airpark. The historic Bellamy Road also ran through the community, and currently survives as a dirt road intersecting the southbound lanes of US 17 with a historic marker on the northwest corner.

Hibernia is an unincorporated community in Clay County, Florida, United States. It is located off US 17, on the western bank of the St. Johns River. It is the home of historic St. Margaret's Episcopal Church and Cemetery.
