Buttapietra is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) west of Venice and about 10 kilometres (6 mi) southwest of Verona. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 6,195 and an area of 17.2 square kilometres (6.6 sq mi).The municipality of Buttapietra contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Bovo and Marchesino e Settimo Gallese. Buttapietra borders the following municipalities: Castel d'Azzano, Isola della Scala, Oppeano, San Giovanni Lupatoto, Verona, and Vigasio.

Vigasio is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) west of Venice and about 14 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Verona. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 7,393 and an area of 30.8 square kilometres (11.9 sq mi).The municipality of Vigasio contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Isolalta and Forette. Vigasio borders the following municipalities: Buttapietra, Castel d'Azzano, Isola della Scala, Nogarole Rocca, Povegliano Veronese, Trevenzuolo, and Villafranca di Verona. Composer Italo Montemezzi was a native of Vigasio.

The Quadrilatero (English: Quadrilateral, for greater specificity often called the "Quadrilateral fortresses") is the traditional name of a defensive system of the Austrian Empire in the Lombardy-Venetia region of Italy, which connected the fortresses of Peschiera, Mantua, Legnago and Verona between the Mincio, the Po, and the Adige Rivers. The name refers to the fact that on a map the fortresses appear to form the vertices of a quadrilateral. In the period between the end of the Napoleonic Wars and the Revolutions of 1848, they were the only fully modernized and armed fortresses within the Empire.Starting from c. 1850, supplies and reinforcements were shipped to the positions through the new Venice-Milan railroad. The experience of the Second Italian Independence War of 1859, in which rifled guns had been used for the first time by the Italian Army, pushed the Austrians to build a second line of eight forts, about 4 kilometers from the main line (completed in the spring of 1866), pivoting around Verona.

Dossobuono is a town in the Veneto, in northeast Italy. It is a frazione of the comune of Villafranca di Verona, in the province of Verona. It has a population of around 6400.Air Dolomiti, a regional airline and Lufthansa subsidiary, maintains its head office in Dossobuono. At one time the airline's registered office was in Dossobuono, while the airline's executive headquarters were in Ronchi dei Legionari.

Santa Lucia was an ancient paesino next to Verona (its parish is still called Santa Lucia extra, since it is positioned outside the ancient town wall). Today it has been absorbed into Verona, located to the south-west of the city centre, forming part of the Circoscrizione 4 of the Commune of Verona.

The battle of Santa Lucia was an episode in the First Italian War of Independence. On 6 May 1848, when the king of Sardinia, Carlo Alberto, sent I Corps of the Sardinian army to assault the fortified positions held before the walls of Verona by the Austrian army under field marshal Josef Radetzky. The Austrian army, though outnumbered, managed to withstand the attack and hold their positions. The battle is named after the Santa Lucia district of Verona. Franz Joseph (then only 17 years old) assisted at the battle.

On August 2, 1919, a Caproni Ca.48 airliner crashed at Verona, Italy. All aboard died, with various sources placing the death toll at 14, 15, and 17. It was Italy‘s first commercial aviation disaster and the earliest heavier-than-air airliner disaster in history.

Verona Villafranca Airport (IATA: VRN, ICAO: LIPX), also known as Valerio Catullo Airport or Villafranca Airport, is located 10 km (6.2 mi) southwest of Verona, Italy. The airport is situated next to the junction of A4 Milan-Venice and A22 Modena-Brenner motorways. It serves a population of more than 4 million inhabitants in the provinces of Verona, Brescia, Mantua (Mantova) and Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol.

The Shrine of St Therese of the Child Jesus is a place of Catholic worship in Verona. Located in the southern outskirts of the city, in the Borgo Roma District, entrusted to the Discalced Carmelites. Construction began in 1901, was completed in 1904 and the church was consecrated the following year.The first stone was laid on 29 July 1901 and the project was completed in 1904. On 15 January 1905, Bartolomeo Cardinal Bacilieri, Bishop of Verona inaugurated and blessed the church, originally dedicated to the Holy Family. Pope Pius XI raised it to the rank of minor basilica in 1938.

The Province of Verona (Italian: Provincia di Verona) is a province in the Veneto administrative region of Italy. Verona Porta Nuova is the main railway station of Verona, Italy. It is one of the two stations serving central Verona; the other station, Verona Porta Vescovo, is located at the east of the city. It is situated at Piazzale XXV Aprile ("25 April") at the south of the city centre. The station is a 20-minute walk (approximately 1,5 km) or 10-minute bus ride from Arena di Verona. The station was opened in 1852 by the Austrian Empire's Südbahn and, after its transfer to Italy, has substantially been rebuilt between 1910 and 1922. Following the destruction by allied bombings during the Second World War, the present building was reconstructed between 1946 and 1949. Verona Porta Nuova is a major cross-junction station in Italy: the north–south Brenner Railway connecting Austria and Bologna meets the east–west Milan-Venice railway. The north–south route has been classified by the European Union as Trans-European Network (TEN) Axis No. 1 Berlin-Palermo. The station handles 25 million passengers annually.
