Yauger Park is a mixed-use recreation and sports park in Olympia, Washington across from Capital Mall. The park contains a natural filtering water retention system that serves as a wetland preserve and is home to a community and demonstration garden. The 49-acre (20 ha) park was created in the early 1980s on land once owned by the Yauger family. The grounds were purposefully constructed to flood and the stormwater retention area was expanded twice, in 1995 and during a large scale project completed in 2011. A system of bioswales, ponds, rain gardens, and weirs can hold up to 27 million US gallons (100 Ml) of urban runoff from hundreds of acres in the surrounding West Olympia neighborhood. The natural filtration system connects with other bodies of water, including Capitol Lake, delivering clean water throughout the local ecosystem until it reaches Budd Inlet. The ponds, located in the southern portion of the park, form part of a 5-acre (2.0 ha) wetland area and during most of the year, is home to various species of aquatic creatures and waterfowl. The stormwater grounds were intentionally built to create a habitat for wildlife. A forested area in the northern portion, near the gardens, is home to a variety of birds. Most sports and recreational amenities were built as part of the early beginnings of Yauger Park. Features include baseball fields and space for additional sports, a competition horseshoe pit area, a jogging path, a nature trail, playground, and a skate park. The skate park was built in 2000 after a community-led initiative. Ongoing issues at Yauger Park regarding safety, such as drug use and homeless camps, have been a focal point in the 21st century. Yauger Park contains the last athletic complex created in Olympia.

Capital High School (CHS), commonly referred to as Capital, is a public high school in Olympia, Washington, United States. It is one of two comprehensive high schools in the Olympia School District. Capital is located on Olympia's Westside, and serves the entire northwest corner of Thurston County. High School students from the Olympia School District and Griffin School District attend Capital.

Woodruff Park is an 2.38-acre (0.96 ha) urban park located in and administered by the city of Olympia, Washington. Amenities include a seasonal sprayground, picnic shelter, restrooms, volleyball court, tennis and pickleball courts, and a basketball half-court.Woodruff Park was named after Samuel C. Woodruff, Jr., who in effect donated the property to the city in 1892 for just $1. The park sits at the crest of Olympia's westside hill, between the arterial Harrison Avenue and Garfield Elementary School.

Simmons Lake is a lake in the U.S. state of Washington. The lake has a surface area of 24.5 acres (9.9 ha) and reaches a depth of 12 feet (3.7 m).Simmons Lake was named after Michael T. Simmons, a pioneer citizen.: 77  A variant name was "Ken Lake".

Grass Lake Nature Park is a nature reserve in Olympia, Washington. The park has an area of 195.71 acres (79.20 ha).The central feature of the park is Grass Lake, a reservoir dammed in 1966. Swamp grass in the lake accounts for the name.The lake and surrounding wetland has been owned by the City of Olympia since the 1980s. Amenities include a 1.3-mile (2.1 km) hiking trail.

South Puget Sound Community College is a public community college in southwest Olympia, Washington. The college contains 125 acres (0.51 km2) and is serving about 5,300 full and part-time students as of the fall 2020 quarter.The school offers transfer associate degree programs, transition studies program, professional technical programs, and corporate and continuing education programs. As of fall 2020, SPSCC offers 78 degrees and certificates in 30 areas. It also offers short-term study abroad program designed by the Washington State Community College Consortium for Study Abroad (WCCCSA). In 2021, SPSCC was named among the nations' 150 best community colleges by the Aspen Institute, which is determined by student outcomes in learning, completion rates, employments rates and incomes, and equity.

Percival Creek is a stream in Thurston County in the U.S. state of Washington. The creek empties into Percival Cove, a bay within Capitol Lake.Percival Creek was named after Captain Percival, an early settler.

Warren Point is a point in the U.S. state of Washington.Warren Point was named after Alonzo Warren, proprietor of a local sawmill. Construction of a railroad along Warren Point altered the geography of the cape, and little remains of its former prominence.

Capitol Lake is a 3 kilometer (1.9 mile) long, 260-acre (1.1 km2) artificial lake at the mouth of Deschutes River in Tumwater/Olympia, Washington. The Olympia Brewery sits on Capitol Lake in Tumwater, just downstream from where the Tumwater Falls meet the artificial lake. The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) manages the lake, as part of The Washington State Capitol Campus.

The Washington Governor's Mansion is the official residence of the governor of Washington. The Georgian-style mansion is located on the grounds of the State Capitol campus in the capital city Olympia. It is on the crest of Capitol Point, with a view of mountains, Capitol Lake and the city.
