Springdale Cemetery was a passenger rail station on the New Canaan Branch of the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad and later the Penn Central. Located in Darien, Connecticut, near the border with Stamford, the station opened in 1898 to service the St. Johns Cemetery in the Springdale neighborhood. A decline in station ridership that had begun in the early 1900s culminated in the station being closed and merged with the nearby Springdale stop.

Talmadge Hill station is a commuter rail station on the New Canaan Branch of the Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line, located just south of the Merritt Parkway in New Canaan, Connecticut.

The Connecticut panhandle is the southwestern appendage of Connecticut, where it abuts New York State. It is contained entirely in Fairfield County and includes all of Greenwich, Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien, as well as parts of Norwalk and Wilton. It has some of the most expensive residential real estate in the United States. The irregularity in the boundary is the result of territorial disputes in the late 17th century, culminating with New York giving up its claim to this area, whose residents considered themselves part of Connecticut. In exchange, New York received an equivalent area extending northwards from Ridgefield, Connecticut, to the Massachusetts border, as well as undisputed claim to Rye, New York.The two British colonies negotiated an agreement on November 28, 1683, establishing the New York–Connecticut border as 20 miles (32 km) east of the Hudson River, north to Massachusetts. The 61,660 acres (249.5 km2) east of the Byram River making up the Connecticut panhandle were granted to Connecticut, in recognition of the wishes of the residents. In exchange, Rye was granted to New York, along with a 1.81-mile (2.91 km) wide strip of land known as the "Oblong" running north from Ridgefield to Massachusetts, alongside the New York counties of Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess.

The Elinor and Sherman Ford House is a historic house at 55 Talmadge Hill Road in New Canaan, Connecticut. Built in 1952 for the parents of architect Russell Ford, the house is a good local example of Mid-Century Modern architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Springdale is a section or neighborhood in Stamford, Connecticut. It is known around Stamford to have a small-town feel in the middle of a mid-sized city. Springdale offers both older, relatively modest homes in the lower Springdale area along with more expensive real estate toward the woodsy and affluent North Stamford section. Home of Mulberry Street. The Springdale section is generally defined as the area in the immediate vicinity of Hope Street and the New Canaan Branch of the Metro-North New Haven Line. It is on the east side of the city, north of the Glenbrook section and south of Newfield. To its east is northern Darien and to its west is the Belltown neighborhood. Springdale has its own traditional downtown area, mostly along Hope Street, containing such venues as the State Theater movie house and Twin Rinks ice rink. Twin Rinks has two regulation-size (200 feet by 85 feet) rinks at 1063 Hope St. Easy access to New York City is available through the Springdale train station on the New Canaan Branch. Other amenities include restaurants, professional offices, laundromats, banks, and a variety of small, locally owned shops. The Weed Branch of the city library system is also in the neighborhood, on Hope Street. Nearby is the Springdale Little League baseball field, which has lights for nighttime games. It has become one of the premier Little League fields in all of Connecticut, playing host to many summertime "All-Star" Little League games from all over the region. The neighborhood is served by Springdale Elementary School, Dolan Middle School, and Stamford High School. Both Sacred Heart University of Fairfield and the University of Bridgeport have conducted classes at "campuses" (rented space for classrooms) in Springdale near the railroad station. The Riverbend Office Park and Omega Engineering Inc. are also near the railroad station.

Waveny Park (also known as Waveny House) is a park in New Canaan, Connecticut. The park's centerpiece is "the castle" built in 1912 and surrounded by 300 acres (1.2 km2) of fields, ponds and trails. The architect for the structure was William Tubby. Landscape design for the original residence was by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. The house was used for exterior shots for the fictional 'Cortlandt Manor' on the soap opera All My Children for many years; exteriors of the estate were also used in the 2004 remake film The Stepford Wives. The park is bordered by Farm Road to the North, the Merritt Parkway to the South, South Avenue to the East and Lapham Road to the West. Over the years, numerous additional town structures have been built on parts of the property including New Canaan High School, Waveny LifeCare Network, an aquatic center, two public water supply towers, as well as paddle tennis courts. To be able to use some of these facilities, a nominal annual fee is charged. The Parks recreations are enjoyed by many people from all around Fairfield County. Lewis Lapham, one of the founders of Texaco and the man who built Waveny House, spent summers there with his family for many years. The Lapham family gave the Town of New Canaan most of the estate land in 1967 and sold Waveny House and its surrounding 300 acres (1.2 km2) to the Town for $1,500,000. Actor Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, The Addams Family), born in Stamford, CT, lived in the Waveny mansion.

The Noroton River is a 9.4-mile-long (15.1 km) stream flowing into Holly Pond and forming most of the border between Stamford and Darien, Connecticut, United States. The river's headwaters are in New Canaan, Connecticut. It is the largest flowing body of water between the Mill River/Rippowam River to the west and the Fivemile River to the east, although Stony Brook and the Goodwives River in Darien are not much smaller. Pollution runoff from Interstate 95 flows down the Noroton River into Holly Pond. In 2009, the Stamford and Darien local governments asked the federal government for an $11.7 million grant to fund 65 percent of an $18 million project for "dredging and ecosystem restoration" in the pond and river, including "construction of wetlands, bioswales and other restoration structures".Two restaurants are located at the mouth of the river, where U.S. Route 1 (known as the Boston Post Road on the Darien side and East Main Street on the Stamford side) crosses it. Both feature windows offering diners a view of the river. The restaurant on the north side is in Stamford. On the south side, the current Giovanni's II Steakhouse is the most recent business to occupy a lot where restaurants have been sited since the early 20th century.

Jennifer Dulos (née Farber; born September 27, 1968; presumed dead May 24, 2019; ruled legally dead October 24, 2023) was an American woman who went missing on May 24, 2019. Authorities believe that she was killed in an attack at her home in New Canaan, Connecticut, United States. Her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, were arrested on charges of tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution in connection with Jennifer's disappearance. Later, the two – along with Fotis's attorney Kent Mawhinney – faced additional charges related to Jennifer's murder. Fotis died by suicide in January 2020. Troconis was convicted of the six charges against her in March 2024 and sentenced to 141⁄2 years in prison in May. Mawhinney is awaiting trial. Jennifer and Fotis were in the midst of a contentious divorce and child-custody proceedings. Police believe Fotis lay in wait for Jennifer, attacking her when she returned home after dropping her children off at school. In the evening, he and Troconis drove to Hartford to dispose of garbage bags containing items with Jennifer's blood on them. Police further allege that Mawhinney conspired with Fotis and Troconis.
