Rawdon College

Rawdon is a village and civil parish in the metropolitan borough of the City of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It sits on the River Aire and on the A65 south of Yeadon. The northern parts of the village are part of the Guiseley and Rawdon ward of Leeds City Council and the southern part in the Horsforth ward. The whole village is included in the Pudsey parliamentary constituency.

Little London is a village in West Yorkshire, England, that is divided between the Guiseley and Rawdon and the Horsforth wards of the City of Leeds and the Idle and Thackley ward of the City of Bradford. It comprises a conservation area in the westernmost part of Rawdon town which is unique in that the historic area covered by the designation straddles the boundary of districts of Leeds and of neighbouring Bradford. Apperley Lane (A658) forms the municipal boundary.

Benton Park School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Rawdon, West Yorkshire, England. Formerly a technology college, it has over 1,400 students.

Rawdon Billing, sometimes referred to as Billing Hill, is a tree-topped hill situated in Rawdon, West Yorkshire, England. Reaching an elevation of 231 metres (758 ft), it is a significant landmark in the Aireborough area. The remains of a quarry, as well as concrete foundations for World War II defensive installations, can be found near the top. A number of local footpaths (81, 89, 90 and 91) cross the Billing or near to it, and it is possible to see many landmarks on a clear day, including York Minster, with a very good view of aircraft entering and leaving Leeds Bradford International Airport. It is owned by the Rawdon Trust, land agents for the Emmott family from Lancashire. The Billing is a popular place for local walkers and plane spotters as it overlooks Leeds Bradford Airport.In 1778, a gold torc was found on the Billing. The whereabouts of the artifact is unknown.Though sparse, there is evidence of coal on the Billing; however, though it was used previously as a quarry, there is no sign of mining. Stone from the Billing was apparently used at the base of 48 Albion Street in Leeds city centre. The former bank now houses a Starbucks.

Calverley Old Hall is a medieval manor house with Grade I listed building status situated at Calverley, West Yorkshire, England.

Yeadon railway station was a goods only railway station in West Yorkshire that operated between 1894 and 1964. A station for Yeadon was first proposed in 1881 when the North Eastern Railway were approached to build a line between Horsforth and Guiseley via Yeadon. The North Eastern declined to be involved so the promoters of the railway sought assistance from the Midland Railway instead. With some support from the Midland Railway, a company, the Guiseley, Yeadon & Rawdon, was formed and obtained, in 1885, an act of parliament to build a branch line from Rawdon Junction to Yeadon - a distance of just over one mile. In 1891 the company obtained parliamentary approval for an extension of the line to Headingley. At the same time the company changed its name to the Guiseley, Yeadon & Headingley Railway Company. Despite the additional powers the company was unable to raise the necessary capital to even build the line as far as Yeadon. Instead the Midland Railway took over the powers authorised by the earlier act and built the line from Rawdon to Yeadon.Yeadon station opened to goods traffic on 26 February 1894 and despite being equipped with all the necessary facilities for passengers, the Midland Railway did not introduce a regular passenger service on the line.Post-grouping the station came under the control of the London, Midland and Scottish railway who continued the practice of no regular passenger traffic although it was used for excursion trains until the 1950s. During the Second World War there was an increase in freight traffic due to an Avro aircraft factory being established at nearby Leeds-Bradford airport but in spite of this demand the line was closed as a wartime economy measure in 1944. After the war the line reopened but the amount of traffic was never great and a decision was made to close both the station and the branch line. The last train ran on 7 August 1964.

Woodhouse Grove School ('The Grove') is a private, co-educational, day and boarding school and Sixth Form. it is located to the north of Apperley Bridge, West Yorkshire, England (Apperley Bridge is located in the City of Bradford, however the school is located just over the municipal border in the City of Leeds). The school, and its preparatory junior school, Brontë House, is located in the Aire Valley. There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, currently including around 90 boarders. The school was founded as an all-boys boarding preparatory institution, for the sons of Methodist Ministers. It developed over the latter part of the 20th century. Woodhouse Grove has evolved into an independent education centre, providing education from the age of three through to graduation from the sixth form.

Calverley is a village in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, England, on the A657 road, about ten miles (16 km) from Leeds city centre and four miles (7 km) from Bradford, and lying north of the town of Pudsey. The population of Calverley in 2011 was 4,328. It is part of the City of Leeds ward Calverley and Farsley, with a population of 22,594 at the 2011 Census.

The A657 is an A road in West Yorkshire, England that begins in Bramley and ends in Saltaire near Shipley. The road is approximately 8 miles (13 km) long. The road starts from the Bramley Town End (Stanningley By-Pass junction) and ends at the junction with the A650 at Saltaire.

Yeadon Town Hall is a municipal building in Yeadon, West Yorkshire, England. It is Grade II listed.

Apperley Bridge station is situated in Bradford on the (Leeds and Bradford, later Midland) line between Leeds and Shipley, West Yorkshire, England. It serves the district of Apperley Bridge in the north-east of the city. The station opened in 2015. A previous station with the same name was opened in a different location in 1846 but closed in 1965 as part of the Beeching Axe.

Calverley and Rodley railway station, originally called Calverley Bridge Station for the nearby river crossing, is a closed railway station on the line of the former Leeds and Bradford Railway (whose route now forms part of the Leeds to Bradford Lines, the Airedale Line, and the Wharfedale Line), near the villages of Calverley and Rodley, City of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was situated on the left bank of the River Aire under Calverley Lane. The location now belongs to Horsforth.
